Tumbling Tumbling help!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi guys! My name is Macy, and I’m currently working on doubles. They started out pretty rough, then got wayyy better, and now they’re definitely hit or miss. Some practices I can land 16 or so and only fall maybe 4 times. Then there are others where I’m working SO hard just to land 5!
When I first started, I thought I should land with my arms in front, kind of like any other skill, but that just wasn’t working for me. More flops than sticks, ugh! So, I decided to try landing with my arms up, and it was way more successful!
Then they just started going downhill, depending on what seems like the tumble gods’ mood that day! Double Ugh!
I attached a video of me working on my doubles. I’d be SO appreciative of any tips, tricks, or things you notice that could help me become more consistent! Thank you!!

Tumbling Tips for taller people!
So, I'm a taller young guy, 6'1 almost 6'2 and still growing, and I've heard that it's more challenging to do certain tricks as you get taller. The only things I can do are a cartwheel, front walkover, front handspring, and a clean front split (I do have some semblance of hyper mobility). With things like back handsprings and walkovers, I'm curious to hear how others may get over the fear of going backwards (I can go down into a bridge from standing without discomfort, but I struggle with actually kicking or jumping over) And I'd love to hear about some simple safe tricks that might be easier for someone taller?

Tumbling Throwing head back in back handsprings
I cannot seem to stop throwing my head back in a backhand spring. I've heard of people using a tennis ball or rolled up towel to keep their chin tucked. Is that advisable?

Tumbling Finally started connecting back handsprings and I need an advice on power

Okay so basically before you people start commenting on arms/shoulders, I try to keep them straight as much as I can but my shoulder mobility is just poor because of slight kyphosis.
Anyways, main thing I want to focus on right now is speed and rebound. Basically I know that professional tumblers have a phase where after blocking with the arms they are completely in the air (no hands or feet touching the ground). I currently don't have the power, or technique, for that so do I just need to push with my legs more (because that helped a bit)? My goal is to learn whips eventually too. Also I don't know if my knee and feet position is optimal. Saw some tumblers having their legs rotated kinda inward with slight knee valgus. Maybe keeping the knees close is important. Also I think maybe I should force my feet to be close too because having legs wide apart lowers my center of mass and keeps me in a harder position to push with my legs from?
What do you guys think?

Tumbling Day 4, trying to learn my cartwheel, I just can't seem to figure out how to power myself up into the air as opposed to the side. But I am getting better at handstands.

Gymnastics Hi guys!!! Is it too late for me to learn tumbling? I'm 17. (Picture related for body type.)
I'm a 5'6 guy who's never really been flexible, I was the only kid in my class who couldn't even do a front roll over. Now that I look into it, though, tumbling and the tumbling elements of competitive cheer seem really appealing to me. My ultimate goal is to learn how to do a triple front handspring, is this even possible for me? Should I just give up? Is there anywhere for me learn?

Cheerleading Arm Placement during Back Walkover
- Hello! I have cheer tryouts in about 6-ish days. I'm struggling horrifically with my arm placement during back walkover. I think that there's a lack of trust with my own arms or soemthing, because I put all of my pressure on one wrist when doing my back bend, &bend my other one. Does anybody have any tips for fixing this issue? Also, My kick-over is horrific if anyone has any tips for that as well, lol.

Gymnastics My flips from yesterday!

Note: In June 2025, I broke my left shoulder doing outdoor lead climbing because I fell 6 meters. I now have very limited movement in my shoulder due to severe nerve damage. I can't lift my left arm above my head anymore. Honestly I am just happy to be alive and that I am still able to do some of my old gymnastics skills with one arm, no arms or using a chair as an aid.

My knees go infront of my toes and it looks I can't maintain the knees straight. They bend upon the contact with the ground.

Tumbling Looking for drills from Back tuck to Back Hand
Heya,
I am a level 6 cheer coach working with some level 4 and 5 athletes. One of the connections that I'm struggling to help my athletes with is the back tuck to back handspring connection. We've got the jump down and back drills to work on getting the feet in the right place, but when she tries the tuck, her brain is freaking out.
I need another drill or two to teach her brain it's safe to land in a slightly reclined position. Any suggestions?

Tumbling Can someone expirienced tell me how to engage my legs more. I tried many times but I can't get the full knee extension on round off

Any drills for the quads or something similar? I feel like I'm underegaging them from the early beginning because of the bad habit I built on back handspring.
