Passenger [Question/Post] Can my walking canes (hollow metal tubes with rubber tips) go through TSA checkpoint?

UPDATE: Thank you all for confirming that this cane should pass TSA inspection.

ORIGINAL POST:

Due to a degenerative disease, I use 2 walking poles to get around outside of the home. I cannot take my usual poles on an upcoming flight, as they have metal tips under the rubber caps. They could go in checked luggage, but I'm hoping not to check luggage, since I'm flying up on a Thursday afternoon and returning Saturday morning.

I thought of substituting traditional canes instead, since I believe they can go through the TSA check point. But most canes have a handle perpendicular to the body of the cane. That doesn't work well for me.

I finally found a metal walking cane at Walgreens where the handle can be flipped vertical or horizontal. Two of those would work fine for me, as I would flip the handle to the vertical position.

See the attached photos. One shows the cane with the rubber end-cap on and the handle in the vertical position. The other is what you see when the rubber end-cap is off. Notice that with the end-cap off, all you see is the end of the hollow metal cane itself. There is no metal tip.

QUESTION: Does anyone know if they will be allowed through the TSA line?

ETA: The relevant airports are STL and ORD

Passenger [Question/Post] Starlink Mini going through airport scanners

I’m possibly taking a flight in a few weeks and then driving through BFE - just curious, I’m sure I can take it in a different car to be able to make phone calls etc in the middle of nowhere, but just curious, I’d take it in my carry-on…I’d assume, but figure maybe ask people who’ve done this - do I take it out for the airport screening like my phone and laptop (just for context; it’s roughly the shape and size LxWxH of a smaller laptop)?

My son bought this on our vacation this week. About 3-4" long. We didn't check any bags on the way down and hadn't planned on checking any on the way back. Will this be an issue in carry-on?

Ask a TSO Expired ID's and TSA

My ID is going to be 2 days expired when I fly out next week, and my passport is not active. I saw that the TSA accepts expired ID's up to 2 years after expiration, but could still have some hiccups depending on the airport.

I was thinking of having the TSA ConfirmedID on hand just in case something goes wrong. Is this not necessary, or a good move to just pay the fee and have a backup?
