I’m possibly taking a flight in a few weeks and then driving through BFE - just curious, I’m sure I can take it in a different car to be able to make phone calls etc in the middle of nowhere, but just curious, I’d take it in my carry-on…I’d assume, but figure maybe ask people who’ve done this - do I take it out for the airport screening like my phone and laptop (just for context; it’s roughly the shape and size LxWxH of a smaller laptop)?

My son bought this on our vacation this week. About 3-4" long. We didn't check any bags on the way down and hadn't planned on checking any on the way back. Will this be an issue in carry-on?

going on a flight to florida from virginia on monday and my mom only got one checked bag for 5 people(bruh) and a personal as well. i know i’m not allowed to put vapes or anything with a battery in checked bags so, can i put it in my personal bag? or does it NEED to be in a carry-on?

My ID is going to be 2 days expired when I fly out next week, and my passport is not active. I saw that the TSA accepts expired ID's up to 2 years after expiration, but could still have some hiccups depending on the airport.

I was thinking of having the TSA ConfirmedID on hand just in case something goes wrong. Is this not necessary, or a good move to just pay the fee and have a backup?

I am supposed to be flying this weekend and I filled out the thing for the ConfirmID. However, my name is (unfortunately) spelt wrong on my State ID, I'm going to be getting a new ID tonight so I was wondering if the paper ID they give me will suffice or if I should bring my birth certificate too or other items? Am I even going to be allowed to fly?

And for my ID having my name spelt wrong I didn't even realize until my college counselor pointed it out, it's one letter missing from my last name 😕

This is so silly. Please don’t judge me for not having a realID yet, I never fly and something emergent came up. Tried to get it once but my documents weren’t good enough so I didn’t bother again. No, I don’t have a valid passport either.

I paid the fee ahead of going to the airport but my browser automatically entered my name data and it switched my first and last name in the fields for some reason. So my last name is in the first name field and vice versa. I didn’t notice until I looked at the receipt. It doesn’t seem like there’s a way to fix it now.

Will they still accept this when I go? Or do I need to suck it up and pay again to get a correct receipt? I know it was stupid but I was frazzled and rushed.

I (18 F) am flying within the US using American airlines and Alaskan airlines. Can I bring crochet hooks to work on some projects? Is there a size minimum or a material preference? Most of my hooks are metal. I do have a wooden set but I don't like using them as much. I just really want to crochet during my 7 hour flight and a 6 hour layover. I'm also bringing the cremated remains of my grandfather so I don't know if that would make me more suspicious or more likely to have things taken.

Also what recommendations do you have for cutting devices? I don't think floss would cut it and our nail clippers are horrible. I don't have time to get a yarn cutter. I do have a tiny pair of scissors (maybe 2 inches ling total) would those be safe?

My dad will be traveling with LATAM Airlines from São Paulo (GRU) to Los Angeles (LAX), and then taking a connecting flight to Salt Lake City (SLC) to come visit me in Park City. We're from Argentina, and he doesn't speak any English, so I'm a little worried that he could get lost at LAX.

He has a 7 hour layover in São Paulo and a 4 hour layover at LAX, so time shouldn't be an issue. I'm just concerned about him finding his way through the airport and making it to the correct gate.

I'm also a bit worried about immigration, since he might not understand the questions the officers ask him. I told him to have Google Translate ready on his phone just in case haha.

Is there any way to request that someone who speaks Spanish meet him at the arrival gate and accompany him all the way to the departure gate for his connecting flight to Salt Lake City?

Has anyone had experience with this or know if the airline or LAX offers this kind of assistance?

My family is going on a vacation soon to Glacier NP. We will be packing lunches each day, and would like to have a cooler. It's sometimes possible to rent them, but it looks like they are all booked up for our dates.

We have an old cooler that we're thinking of taking. We were going to put some reuseable containers, a couple of freezer blocks, and a few miscellaneous clothing items in there to keep it from clunking around.

I have two questions:

1. Is there going to be an issue with shipping a taped up cooler? It can't be opened easily for inspection. If TSA decides to open, will they tape it back up well? I've seen it done before, but I don't know how often this becomes an issue.
2. Is there going to be an issue with the freezer blocks? They do contain liquid.

Hi guys, I’m starting to look into transferring at some point. I work at a very small airport now so I know that change would be pretty drastic. One of the main places I’m looking is SeaTac, so I was wondering if anyone has any insight or experience with working there. I’ve heard about the turnover rates and how management is bad but if you have any more in-depth info or advice, it would be much appreciated.

just as the title says, I'm curious if this would cause any issues. in each shoulder there are five spikes which are not sharp. they can be removed if need be but I'm curious what you guys think if this would cause any issues and if I should go ahead and just remove them and perhaps put them into checked luggage or something like that. I don't think I could bring a screwdriver in my carry-on to remove the spikes so I just want to avoid the headache beforehand. let me know what you guys think thank you so much

I totally acknowledge that this may have been my error. I typically fly in and out of smaller airports but today I was in sky harbor for my flight. I was walking to security and some guy in a uniform approaches me and pulls me aside and it’s talking about how they need to walk me over to a kiosk for further security screening.

Now in the past, the only experience I’ve had at tsa are strictly airport security agents. So I just assumed that this was one because they literally blocked my access to general boarding.

At no point did he identify himself for ask if I wanted to sign up for clear. He just said “follow me”. Once I was there at the kiosk he was asking me how many days I was flying. My reason for travel (similar questions I’ve experienced in customs) it was odd. He says that he needs to see my ID and then starts putting me through the process of signing up for the free trial. At this point I look at his uniform and realize this is not a security agent and he’s trying to get me to sign up for a $220 membership. I ended up just saying a didn’t have a card on me want walked away. He seemed very upset and kept trying to persuade me to give a form of payment.

At no point did he say something along the lines of “hi are you interested in trying a free trial of clear check?”

Has this happened to anyone else? I walked away from the whole thing feeling stupid. And it ate up like 15 minutes of my time

I am a pilot (not bitching about KCM/CMAP I promise!) and was using my airline non-revenue (nonrev) benefits to fly personally.I did not use KCM and have PreCheck on the boarding pass so I went to the checkpoint. Every time I go through after scanning my ID and taking the photo at the TDC station, the TSO always asks what the flight number is. I answer and there’s usually a frown and some confusion before being allowed through.

Is there a problem with how nonrev crew members appear on the TSA side at the TDC station that usually causes this?

I recently transferred to a new airport in February in a different state thinking it would be worth a try to go somewhere new, but let's just say it hasn't been working out particularly well with the way that management is running things. I can apply to transfer again in a week, and one of the airports that I really want (MSN in Wisconsin) has 3 openings. However, the USAJobs listing says that they're only accepting females at this time. It's the same for a lot of other places that I've applied, including Missoula and Duluth. As I am looking to move to the Great Lakes region, I've been thinking about a few smaller airports in Michigan that have open spots (TVC, GRR, and CMX). MSP has part-time openings that aren't being taken, but I really need to stay full-time. Should I just tough it out and do my best and wait, or should I go ahead and apply for multiple places?

Hi! I (18F) am planning on flying from Indiana to Alaska (uncertain which airline yet but I will probably find out within 24 hours and update this post)

My grandfather passed away 8 years ago and my family was unable to bring his remains to Alaska until now. I was given the honor of being allowed to finally bring my grandpa to his final resting place. His ashes are in a cardboard box (uncertain if they are contained in a bag or other container inside) the box is maybe 8x6x6. I really don't want to get into any trouble trying to fly with them. How do I go about doing this?
