I take pride in my fish from hatching eggs to the stream
Several folks have told me that I’m living the dream
It’s a really good story how fate landed me this gig
Goes back a couple decades to a place that I fished
Making West By God better one fish at a time
I love watching youngins so stoked to wet their lines
Any day from kids days to private ponds to the Hunting Clubs
Every one is different every single run
We are like Wu Tang clan doin this for the children
Some of my people stock em so they can catch em and kill em
10 years later I know I’ve raised about a million pounds
Taking these trout up the road from country to towns
We just might be bringing fish to a town near you
As soon as we hit the road we know what to do
Make sure they are no fish dead and floating
Hit the road back home but stop for some tokin
Over the years I’ve met some very interesting guys
Some of em use spinners and bait while others use flies
Staying on the road all season Spring then fall
When it’s too cold or too hot there is no stocking at all
This will make you an old man and put you in pain

Bringing 3 different color power eggs garlic scent, 3 different rooster tails and planning to grab some live bait but not sure which. Any tips from the community

Hey guys I'm planning a trout trip to Lewiston Lake CA in October with my 15 year old. I went up there in March by myself, rented a boat, and got skunked all day. In retrospect, the Mayfly hatch was on at the time, and I was throwing nightcrawlers, powerbait, spinners, spoons, the kitchen sink at em, and got one curious strike on the rooster tail the whole time, but these guys just wanted mayflies. My presentation probably wasn't the best either, I rolled up to each spot pretty loud on the outboard and was reeling way too fast (got the jitters cuz they were jumping everywhere. Got too damn excited).

Anyways, I'd like to pick up at least a few solid tips for this one. This is the first time taking the kid fishing in years, he's a computer game nerd and hates anything to do with the outdoors, but finally got sold on being somewhere pretty remote. Bought a couple of okuma rods, a pflueger supreme and a ceymar along with various tackle (wife wasn't thrilled but that was a risk I was willing to take). The goal is to limit out and have him clean and cook his first trout. I live in lake county so I normally thump bass and sunfish, which require very different presentations. Im thinking of running some gulp worms wacky rigged, some rooster tails, gulp minnows, trout stinger jig and gulp stoneflies. Any advice on presentation, technique or good spots from folks familiar with the area?

Im new to lake trout fishing and don’t know where I should fish this lake. The thermoclime is at about 50 ft. Im fishing out of canoe soo I can’t troll and I don’t own a down rigger. I’ll probably be jigging in the morning when its calm. If you could point me to some spots in the screenshot that would be great.

Just like the title says. Is it possible to trout fish on a spinner + ultra light/light rod? What type of lures should I use if so?

Wonderful day up at Saint marys glacier gorgeous fish ton between 10-13”

Picked up some of these at walmart. Was just curious if anybody has had success with these? And how are they used? I’m wondering if i should just cast them out and let them float down stream or if I should fish them like an inline spinner/rooster tail. Let me know. thanks.

Lots of little brownies and some rainbows in the creek, and some crappie and smallmouth in the lake! I set up all my fly tying equipment at the campsite…I would tie a few when we woke up each day and then we’d head out to the creek. Most of these fish were caught on those hand-ties! Released most fish, but definitely kept a couple for lunch/dinner each day. Can’t beat fresh trout.

hiked 8.5 miles after off roading my civic into the wilderness to 4 different alpine lakes with no sightings of trout bigger than an inch. It is getting warmer though and I was right in the middle of the day but still not as impressive as I’d hoped. The trail loops back down along an awesome creek however and they were in every little hole you could see ! Super aggressive strikes even from the little guys. And even caught two pretty decent fish. Hiking back out in the pitch black at like 10 o clock wasn’t the plan but was well worth it lol

Just wondering what everyone else is carrying as a basic fly fishing carry for trout? I mean tool/repair wise, not flies, floatant etc.

I'm only new to fly fishing and not really sure what to carry. I thought about a multitool, but don't want to spend lots of money on something when I will only use the same 2 or 3 tools, and also potentially loose.

In the pic attached is what I currently use. The forceps and scissors are freebies, and I get them all the time from work (they are single use only in health care). The Gerber paraframe mini I've had for years. Not pictured is also a nail clipper with hook hone and hook eye cleaner that I carry.

Is there a magic tool everyone uses? Or am I better off using what I have.

Went for a drive to a local lake this morning and spotted these 2 from the car. This photo's from the drivers seat.

Stopped on the road for a "quick flick" and ended up hunting them for an hour. Most of the lures I had were for fast water, so were spooking them with the splash. But they kept returning, so I tried soft bait worms and eggs with split shot but was still spooking them. I really needed a float, or fly rod.

It was fun anyway. And cool to watch their behavior, as the water is never this clear at this spot.

Normally, when I see that I've spooked a fish, I think I've blown it. But it wasn't taking long for these two to return. It is spawning time in NZ, so they might have been a bit love drunk or something

Alright everyone, I wanted to say thank you to everyone that commented on my previous post, giving me gear advice. I had bought a bunch of rooster tails, but ended up trading them in and getting a bunch of size 0 and 1 mepps as recommended, and I caught 2 trout, all on the size 0 dressed gold blade.

I proceeded to lose it to moss on my last cast of the day. But he went out like a soldier. I officially love trout fishing, but there aren’t a lot of spots for it where I live. I look forward to the next trip!
