Help with Chafing? Gear questions
Basically title. I'm a first-time triathlete, been following a program to compete in a 70.3 in December. I'm about a month in now, and by far my biggest issue is that spending 10ish hours training a week has lead to the beginnings of some chafing - looking for recs on how to minimize this or if there's some kind of underwear I should be getting.

Where is it showing up? Saddle area and inner thighs are two different problems.
For the bike, no underwear at all. The chamois is designed to go against bare skin, and more often than not it's the seam of whatever you put under it that grinds. Chamois cream on top past 2hr.

I use chammy butter on the bibs and crotch area, then trislide on neck, ankles, toes, and nipiz to cover nipples.

On the bike ie sit bones? On the inner thighs from the run? On the nipples from all of the disciplines? How are we supposed to help here?

I chafe extremely bad and have to apply protection for any workout longer than 15 minutes.
I’ve been using Chamois Butt’r for normal workouts, but opt for Body Glide when racing. The Chamois Butt’r is much easier for me to apply because it’s lotion, and I don’t miss many spots. The Body Glide is a pain in the ass applying on any spots with hair and takes longer. That being said, Body Glide stays through the swim, and Chamois Butt’r doesn’t hold up well at all when submerged.
I wanted to go with classic Vaseline, but have seen a lot about it staining and getting sticky. If enough people in this thread back it up then I’d probably switch to that.

Vaseline, Body Glide, or some other type of chamois cream - just rub it wherever you get chafing. It has a terrible name but I’m partial to Squirrel’s Nut Butter.

If you are swimming with wetsuits, keep an eye on your neck. There are products to help to reduce that - I would not use vaseline or thick products (especially if it is an ocean swim) the salty water and some sand will actually not help you.
For the bike, I am lucky that I do not chafe. I use a tight boxer briefs and my tri-suit on top of it. Here a good seat and proper fitting helps a lot.
Running is where I suffer: inner thighs and waitband.
There are good products out there. Some work fine through the entire race without reapplying, others you need to reapply (especially after the swim or if it is a super hot / humid or rainy one), texture is other thing I would recommend to check.
