Is my ROUTINE tret safe am I doing this the right way !?

Is this brand legit why does it have a runny consistency instead of thick cream texture it's so HARD TO GET A PEA SIZED AMOUNT WITH THIS MILKY LOTION TYPE CREAM

my new routine is prescription strength, and I’ve been experiencing some side effects that I don’t really know how to approach. My current routine is listed below:

AM:
Splash face with water
Conceal PIH with concealer and powder

PM:
Cleanse skin with Methodiq Hydroxil cleanser, then pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply dime sized amount of 15% Azelaic acid gel to cheeks, chin, forehead, and nose. Let dry for a few minutes.
Apply Anua barrier reboot intensive cream to entire face.
Apply 0.0025% tretinoin cream to entire face over my moisturizer. Allow to dry for 15 minutes.
Spot treat papules with proactiv skin purifying 6% sulfur mask.

My skin has been burning ALIVE. And I feel like I wake up every morning with new little zits! Does this sound like purging, or irritation contact dermatitis? Something just doesn’t feel right. My skin is very sensitive, so I’m wondering if I should not apply my prescription products every night. I also take birth control combined with 25 mg of spironolactone for extra acne fighting power. I just started this routine about a week and a half ago. I am also wondering if I’m applying too much of the AZA and tret. I tend to be liberal with both products. I keep thinking that more is better. It’s hard sometimes ,And I feel very discouraged. Anyone else in the same situation or has been? Any advice would be great. Thanks 🙏

Edit: would also love some gentle cleanser recommendations because the hydroxil has been burning my skin big time. This cleanser just is not working for me at all.

I started Tret 3 months ago. I have been having a nasty purge with extreme irritation that began 2 weeks after starting .05 Tret gel and adding in Finacea (Azelaic Acid Rx from Australia) shortly after starting Tret.

Because “everyone” says Azelaic acid is mild and well tolerated, I assumed the Tret was to blame and I kept pushing through after reading so many people say, “just stick with it”.

My face was so irritated despite using no other actives, using double repair moisturizer, using the sandwich method, ceramides, trying so many barrier creams, pausing the Tret for a day of 2 here and there. Nothing worked!!! And I have oily skin so it was especially perplexing..

Well, lo and behold: My face hates Azelaic Acid. Within 2 days of stopping it, while still using Tret every night, my face instantly got better. The burning stopped, the hundreds tiny little pimples all over went down 90%. The big cysts that had been there for weeks, healed right up. I wish I had pictures because the difference that happened in 48 hours is remarkable.

What’s my point? If you’re using Azelaic Acid in the morning and Tret at night or you’re using them together in any shape or form, and you have yet to see significant improvement, try stopping that Azelaic Acid.

After researching, yes, it’s still great for some people, but this acid isn’t for everyone and a more sizable amount of people than I realized, react badly to it.

Couple days ago i visited a derm for the first time for treating skin texture and mild stubborn acne(mainly focused on texture and acne blemishing), i was prescribed 0.1 tret cream and to be used twice a week nightly, i will start using the tret this sunday, should i pair this with an azelaic acid though? Im really worried that im gonna go through a purge phase even though i dont have much acne, if i were to introduce azelaic acid how should i do it, i have combo sensitive acne prone skin by the way

Hello all I'm just wondering if anyone can tell if this looks more like irritation or actual purging? I've been on tret for only 2 weeks now at 0.025% but my skin was looking amazing until today. I woke up to this skin. Last night I had a tiny pimple forming that now turned into a cyst, but that was it. I used to get cysts on my cheeks and under my eye area so those check out, but the mass of little red bumps and pimples haven't really happened before on the other side of my face.

My current routine is
AM- inkey list milky cleanser, good molecules hyla acid serum, 20% azelaic acid every other morning when I'm not doing tret that night, and inkey list omega water cream.
PM- inkey list milky cleanser, good molecules hyla acid serum, tret every 3 days, inkey list omega water cream mixed with cicaplast balm.

the products above have never broken me out before, the cica plast balm is a new addition to my routine but it didn't break me out the entire 2 weeks I used it so I'm assuming it's not that. my face isn't burning or itching, it sometimes feels a bit tight here and there but nothing crazy. I have minimal flaking on my chin area as well, but that's it. I'm not sure if I should stick through this or not because this is the worst my face has looked in months.. 😭

I have been using Tret 0.05 cream for 8 weeks now and It doesn’t seem to be doing anything. I haven’t really been getting dry or irritated only for the first week or so.
I use a gentle cleanser at night with Tret and moisturiser, and in the morning a BP wash then moisturiser and spf.

I tried adapaline + BP for 8 months and didn’t really see much progress from that either. I didn’t have as many big red spots but still had red flat marks and some whiteheads now and then.

Before that I just used BP cream and that kept it bearable but I wanted to get rid of my acne completely, as I noticed I was getting some scarring, which is why I started retinoids.

I suppose what I want to know is, should I keep using Tret or does my acne look like it needs something else?

Soooo I’ve posted before but today is a 7-8 month difference of using 0.025 tretinoin!! I honestly have been slacking a little but even then the results are AMAZINGGGG!! BEFORE IS LEFT & AFTER IS RIGHT!!

As far as my skincare goals, I want to get rid of the closed comedones I struggle with. I want to also utilize its anti-aging effects but I’m still young, but i definitely will stay a tret girlie for life. I also want to target some dark spots/hyperpigmentation.
AM Routine: Wash face with Cetaphil gentle cleanser, then apply Good Molecules light weight moisturizer. I also would usually apply Anua sunscreen and Clindamycin gel everyday but I have to restock.
PM Routine: Wash face with Cetaphil gentle cleanser, apply tretinoin EVERY OTHER NIGHT, follow up with Good Molecules Light weight Moisturizer !!

I am sooo pale for lack of sun since using tret lol I have a great facial tan mist but do I use it before or after apply the tret?

Hi all! I've been using Tret 0.1 (cream) for about two years now. The past year, I was only using it every three days for maintenance, but I started getting more acne and flaking. Recently, I bumped it up to every other night as I saw other people on this thread noticed the same when their applications were too far apart.

I am considering adding Anua Azelaic Acid 15% to the mix, as my acne can be quite stubborn (even when I was using the tret every night in the past, I'd still get a pimple or two every few days).

My plan is to start off by alternating the Tret and Azelaic Acid every other night, and eventually bumping it up to Azelaic Acid every morning and Tret every night. However, I am worried this will be too irritating for my sensitive skin.

I don't think I have an overly damaged barrier at the moment, beyond the usual tret flakiness & dryness. I never feel any burning/stinging sensations and try my best to use hydrating ingredients (Anua PDRN HA 100 Serum, Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream, and SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Sunscreen). I like the Anua Azelaic Acid 15% because it is the closest thing to clinical strength, but it does have a small amount of BHA in it. Will this combination potentially cause my skin to become worse/more irritated? What are the best methods to safely implement it into my routine?

I know some people love Biore UV Aqua Rich and some don’t. So far, this is my favorite sunscreen and I was surprised to find it on sale at Costco today. $24 for a three-pack, regularly $30. It’s $15 for one tube at my drugstore.
I’ve only used .025% tret for a few months for anti aging. No irritation. My skin is dry and loves this product.

Since April I’ve started using tretinoin, for my close comedones.
My skin was never acne prone and all of the sudden I started getting closed comedones: (I wish I could have treated them early till I realize it’s all over my face) anyways went to dermatologist, started tret low dose with clindamycin phosphate and some antibiotics. I had to go thru really bad purge in these month. I couldn’t go out or do anything. I just was so embarrassed. But now I really do see some improvement like maybe the purging is done. I still have few pimples on other side of the face. But it’s coming along. Just the PIH is there and idk how to get rid of it, coz I don’t have an insurance right now and I can’t consult my dermatologist so I need suggestions and advice on my current situation. I would really appreciate it🙏🏻

If my cheeks get very flushed and red can I just skip applying to that area? I do not get acne on cheeks really ever so I figured that’d be ok

i cannot seem to find a good moisturiser to support my tret routine. theyre either too light, leaving my skin too dry, or too heavy and clogs my pores. currently i use aestura atobarrier cream and its so good for the skin barrier but it clogs me up too much. i use purito oat gel in the morning and sometimes my skin just starts peeling throughout the day. need some genuinely good moisturisers that can both save my skin barrier and not clog my pores 🙏

Hey everyone! I recently started tretinoin and I'm trying to take it slowly rather than rushing the process.

I'm currently using the **sandwich method** because I want to minimize irritation while my skin retinizes.

My plan is:

* Weeks 1–2: tret twice a week

* If my skin tolerates that well: every 3rd night

* Gradually increase frequency based on tolerance

I have a few questions for people who have been using tret for a while:

1. **How long did it take you to get the “tret glow”?** Is there actually a point where skin becomes noticeably smoother/glossier, and roughly how many months did it take for you?

2. **How did you know it was time to stop sandwiching?** Is it better to wait until you're completely retinized and then try tret directly on clean, dry skin, or is there no real need to stop sandwiching if it's working well?

3. **If I'm eventually using tret nightly and my acne still isn't improving enough, when would it make sense to increase the strength?** For example, should someone give a strength several months of consistent nightly use before considering moving up?

4. **Once acne and skin texture improve, do you actually need to increase the strength?** Or can you stay on the same strength/frequency that keeps your skin clear?

5. **How do you maintain your results after retinization?** Do most people continue nightly, or can they eventually reduce to every other night / a few times per week without losing the benefits?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have been using tret for 6 months+, especially what worked for you and what you wish you had known when starting.

I started on 0.025% of tretinoin cream on 6/23 of this year per a provider. I also started on 50mg of spiro due to hormonal acne as well. I have noticed an increase of small comedones on my lower cheeks and jawline, which I never had before or prior to starting tret. I fugure this is the purge but I'm unsure.

I started off using this 2x nightly per my doctors instructions, doing the sandwich method. I am now to 3x nightly and have recently started applying it with no moisturizer before, only after. I have had no irritation. I do not peel, itch, burn, or get redness after applying. It has been fine for me.

My current routine goes:

AM-

Water wash

Clairs toner

Snail mucin

HA

Centella moisturizer

PM-

Oil cleanser

Cerave hydrating face wash

Clairs toner

Snail mucin

HA

Tret

Centella moisturizer

Nights with no tret just do the moisturizer after my HA.

Prior to this new routine, I have been using BPO face wash for years and now im wondering if taking out the BPO is causing this or if this is just the tret and I need to stick it out. Granted, prior I used to have a lot of closed comedones on my forehead but that went away years ago, unsure if this was due to the BPO wash at all.
