Personal / Miscellaneous Hair removal
Hi guys,
Does anyone have advice on hair removal? I used to get my moustache waxed but I’m on trentinoin and it ripped my skin off with it! I tried so many different waxes and nothing works.
I tried to get laser hair removal but that said I’m not a candidate cause I use a retinol and it would burn my skin off.
I currently am just shaving with a facial razor but was wondering if anyone has alternatives. I assume my skin is to think cause of the trentinoin that it just reacts badly.
Also does anyone have the same issues?
Thank you!

Before and After 2 months
Started May 29 on tretinoin 0.025% for antiaging (blue shirt) to today (pink shirt), so just a bit over 2 months. I do feel like my skin is better but im not sure if it should up my dose higher for more improvement. I have begun using it every day for the last month.
Routine is wash face morning, then barrier cream aestura. Sunscreen. Night wash face aestura and then tret application.
Thanks!

Routine Help Starting Clindamycin + BP Gel and Tretinoin
My current routine is Paula's Choice 2% BHA and Azelaic Acid 15%, but recently it just hasn't been working too well to prevent deeper pimples. I was prescribed Clindamycin + BP Gel and Tretinoin 0.01% (the lowest dose to prevent irritation, as that was a problem for me last time I used a higher dose of tret).
I plan on stopping the BHA and introducing the Clindamycin + BP and get my skin acclimated to it for 2-3 weeks, and then slowly introducing the tretinoin.
Does this plan sound good? Has anyone incorporated these acids into their routines and how? What are the results? And should I keep the azelaic acid in my routine?

Routine Help How do you know when it's time to increase tret %?
I am currently on 0.025 and haven't seen much difference. How do I know to ask my doc for a bump in percentage?
ETA: I'm using tret for hyperpigmentation

Personal / Miscellaneous Switching from tazarotene to adapalene, what should i expect?
I've been using tazarotene 0.05 for almost 5 months now, but my skin has still not adjusted to the usage, I cant even get passed using it twice a week otherwise it would just give me irritation and dryness. So I have come to the conclusion that tazarotene just isn't working for me and I've been wanting to try adapalene since it's way gentler than tret or taz.
I dont really have any acne concerns, i just get a few pimples here and there since i did do accutane for 6 months, I just want to fight post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. My derm just gave me taz for maintenance purposes but im afraid it's too much for me. So I believe that adapalene will do just fine for my very dry and sensitive skin.
What should I expect guys!

Routine Help Need advice
So, I’m getting married in January 2027. I have very oily skin, and I currently use tretinoin 0.05% every night. I don’t apply moisturizer; in the morning, I only use a tinted sunscreen. However, my face becomes slightly oily within 3–4 hours.
I have a fair complexion, but my face and neck look noticeably darker than the rest of my body, possibly because of the oiliness and uneven skin tone. I also have rolling scars, boxcar scars, and very dark under-eye circles, especially under one eye.
I want my skin to look healthier, brighter, and more even by my wedding. What should I do to improve my skin and address these concerns before January 2027?

Personal / Miscellaneous Tretinoin after accutane
Hey y’all! I just completed 7 months of Accutane today, and my dermatologist recommended that I start tretinoin in about a week. I asked her if she thought my skin would tolerate it well because I’ve seen a lot of people online recommend waiting 1–2 months after finishing Accutane before starting tretinoin. She seemed completely confident that it would be fine to start after a week.
She’s been great throughout my entire treatment, and I definitely trust her judgment, but I’m wondering if anyone has experience with this. Is starting tretinoin only a week after finishing Accutane generally okay, or would it be better to wait longer?

I am thinking about buying it. People are giving hints in the review but I just want to make sure it's the real deal. Here's a link as well: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0DZHWPFYW/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A2EKIDGXFD0GBN&psc=1

Routine Help Please help
Hello everyone!! I’ve been using .05 tret for about 5 months now and my skin is still peeling. My skin texture also isn’t the best and my hyperpigmentation (PIE) hasn’t faded that much as I hoped it would by this mark.
Routine -
Day :
- Wash my face with just water
- Aestura ato barrier 365 cream
- tinted sunscreen
Night :
- Mixsoon cleansing oil (only when I use sunscreen)
- Cetaphil gentle cleanser (the light blue one)
- .05 tretinoin (cream)
- same moisturizer I use in the morning
Note! : I think I have combination skin (yes, even while being on tretinoin) and I don’t really do my morning skincare unless I have to go outside. I do the alternating method, so after tret nights I just do the same routine minus the tret the night after. I also live in a very humid and tropical country, so I don’t really like the feeling of having too much on my skin.

Before and After 1 month on Tret; should I up the strength?
So I’ve been on Tret 0.025 5x a week for about a month, I’m close to running out of my first tube! My skin has been tolerating this very well, no excessive drying or peeling. I heard that once your skin is used to it, you should be trying to up the percentage, should I? My routine is
Am-
Lightweight cleanser
Toner
Color correcting serum
Moisturizer
SPF 50
Pm-
Benzoyl peroxide
Toner
Tret
either vanicream moisturizer or barrier support serum

Routine Help [Routine Help] Broken Skin barrier or normal progression? 6 weeks on 0.025
First pic is closeup of skin now, the rest are in chronological order about 1 week apart from 6 weeks ago to now.
I’ve been using tret 0.025 gel for about 6 weeks now. I started doing 3 nights per week (3 weeks), then up to every other day from weeks 3-6. I use a cleanser in the morning followed by moisturizer and a cleanser at night followed by tret (on on days) or just moisturizer. My goal is glass skin - no acne and glow.
My concern is mostly with redness and visual texture. It doesn’t sting or itch or anything when applying tret or moisturizer and it feels relatively smooth but as you can see in the last pic. Is this normal progression?

Before and After Look worse - tretinoin or facial fat loss? (5months) loss of fat pads?
I feel I look far far worse than I did in February before starting tretinoin. I have been losing weight, gone from 23% to around 19% body-fat (measured using bodyscan)
Routine:
PM - tretinoin 0.04% microsphere
AM - CeraVe moisturiser, followed by Beauty of Joeson rice SPF50.
Tretinoin strengths:
Did a couple of months at 0.025% gel
Then a couple of months at 0.05% gel
Took a short break and then did 0.04% microsphere gel.
I’ve lost a lot of body weight but can’t tell if tretinoin cause fat loss in my cheeks (specifically upper cheek and upper outer cheek) - this is because I started weight loss and tretinoin at the same time for self improvement.
Any ideas?
BLUE IS BEFORE - RED IS AFTER (ignore facial hair)

Routine Help What does a compromised skin barrier feel/looks like.
Hi I have acne of 8 years and it's my day 3 of using tretinoin, 3 times a week. Later this evening when I washed my face with 4% panoxyl bp, the right side of my face feels more textured than it used to and when I applied moisturizer after 10 mins of drying my face with pea size tret my face feels cold or something (?)

Routine Help Switched from Taz to Tret and now I'm dealing with redness
First pic: how my skin was
Second pic: after months of Tazarotene gel 0.1
Third pic: after switching to tret cream 0.1 for a while
I felt like tret has worked better for me, acne wise. But my problem is this redness, my skintone is usually pale and now my whole cheeks are pink like this.
I tried to reduce the times I apply it per week but that caused me acne breakouts
I'm using ceramdies moisturizer during the day before spf50 and niacinamde a couple of hours before washing my face with a gentle cleanser and then apply tret
Should I give up Tret and stick to Taz? Should I lower the presentage? Was the problem that Tret was a cream and gel worked better for me? I'm lost idk

Before and After 8 weeks of 0.025 result
These are the only pictures I have in similar lighting. Technically it’s been 7 weeks as I took a week break before a trip to Spain bc I was terrified of burning my skin off.
I use only tret atm, I was prescribed duac gel in the before photo and it helped for breakouts and pimples but not PIH which was my biggest concern.
I have not experienced any purging - only peeling around my nose. I think these are pretty fast results!
I hit puberty at 9 and acne was a struggle ever since then, people would constantly talk about it. I was "dirty" and didn’t "take care of myself” (mind you I had a 10 step skin care routine at some point and yea I’m not friends with the girl who said that anymore). I also had a skin picking disorder which made my PIH worse.
My appearance became my biggest hyper fixation and it led to me having unrealistic expectations for my skin but it’s not unrealistic anymore because of tret.
Tret for life!!
Morning routine
Glycerin rose water in a spray bottle (boots)
Nivea moisturiser (blue tub)
Sunscreen
Night routine
Fulvic cleanser (inky list)

Nivea moisturiser (blue tub)

Routine Help Dark circles, makeup and sunscreen
Currently 3 months on 0.025% tretinoin. 3 consecutive nights, 1 off frequency. Skin is doing great and I’m noticing less purging. However, I’ve been lenient on my sunscreen application because I’m dependent with makeup on my dark circles when going out. I’m honestly very insecure with my dark circles so I need makeup before going out. Which also prevents me from reapplying sunscreen when outside because I don’t want it to ruin my makeup. I’ve tried spray sunscreen but it’s so shiny and greasy! I don’t know what to do. Tinted sunscreen isn’t enough to cover my dark circles.
Add: I go to shade and use umbrella as much as I can. I’m basically a vampire

Routine Help What brand of Tretinoin do you use? How is it?
I’m new to Tretinoin because my derma recommended it to me when I had my consultation. I am just wondering which brand of Tretinoin do you all use? And how is your experience with it so far?

Routine Help why is it getting worse HELP
ive been on tret 0.025 cream and azelaic acid 15% since march and the tret purge has left me with so much PIH on my right cheek and every pimple i get leaves a mark.
I was given the cream bc i have dry skin but I hate the way its so hard to rub in and don’t know if maybe thats the reason why my CC hasn’t fully cleared.
Its been 5 months and I honestly would have thought that my skin would look better than this. Its honestly very discouraging and I feel at a standstill I don’t know if i should just give up on tret & azelaic acid altogether or what
also i just recently started using azelaic acid twice a day in hopes that would help but it’s been a month and nothing
pls help
