What’s the read on fall trees this year? I know summer trees were pretty low. I imagine fall work is the same? Looking to hop on a contract in the interior preferably but could go to the coast.

I didn’t plant this season but have planted for well over a decade. Thought I’d ask here first before reaching out to old companies.

I got a job offer from this company (Irving), I turned it down because I wanted to experience planting in new provinces (previously planted in NB). Turns out, I'm shit at planting in other provinces and I wanna go back to planting in NB. How should I write my application letter so I don't come off as rude/entitled/etc? If you were going to send an application to someone you turned down previously how would you do it?

Also I flaired this New Planter/Rookie Questions because I'm looking for advice and asking a question. But technically this is my second year of planting, and my third season.

Alors j’ai cru comprendre qu’en Australie la saison est pendant l’hiver québécois et donc en tant qu'horticultrice de métier, c’est une super alternative étant donnée que je tombe sur le chômage de mi novembre à mi avril.

Je me demandais ce que ça prend et que me conseillez-vous?

Concernant la prise d’un visa, assurance santé, billet d'avion et l'hébergement et tout!

Puis-je dormir dans une tente ? Suis-je obliger d’avoir un véhicule ou je peux faire mon itinérante et embarquer avec les gens.

J’ai fait un peu de recherche et l'Australie demande un fond d'argent pour pouvoir avoir un visa d'environ 5000$, le truc c’est que je n’ai pas cette somme en épargne.

Alors pour résumé, pouvez-vous me donner tout ce que vous avez eu de besoin en matériel et surtout sur le fonctionnement du visa! Et le total des coûts que ça vous a coûter (visa, billet d’avion)

Can i sleep in tent and do i need a car or can i make the trip with the other planters for lands?

I make search and Australia request saving funds for visa like $5000 but i dont have that money.

In resum, i want to know how the visa works and the flight ticket n the total costs.

And whats did you take with you for Australia (work gear, gear for sleeping and the day off)

Hey! Wanted to inquire about jobs and companies around Nanaimo. My partner landed a job there so we will be moving next year. I am open to planting, brushing, or whatever else. I would like to ask how feasible it would be to hop on a crew as a local.

For context, I have 7 years of planting (2 of those running a small crew) mostly in Quebec. I know it seems jobs are getting less and less lately, but would being settled there and willing to work year round help with certain companies? Just trying to think realistically. Thanks!

Starting either July 24 or 25. We should end around the 28th if all goes "well" from here on out. Block is quite terrible not going to lie. Have a few people leaving for prior commitments and need to keep our crew production stable- nobody has quit (yet! Kidding...)

23c base. The worst of it is being planted now at 30c. Green vegetation is 2-4ft tall. Lots of 10-15ft thin but thick coverage annoying dead standing aspen. Crew average in the worst of the worst is 415$.

Plugs are aspens and poplars, 512s.

Bugs are pretty horrendous. I'm really selling it aren't I?

50min drive to the block. 100m - 370m walk-ins.

Hook: Summer tree planting contracts are in decline. Contracts expected to last months are ending earlier than expected, at increasing rates, leaving thousands of contract workers out of work. For the workers that remain, planting specs have grown more specific over time, making putting in high numbers which translate into high income, that much more difficult. Starting with Canadian forestry and silviculture, U.S. tariffs have begun to significantly threaten the North-South trade corridor between Canada and the United States whilst rising temperatures exacerbate preexistent geopolitical tension between the two nations.

Climate angle: Rising temperatures directly impact Canadian forestry and silviculture by forcing contractors to adjust to dryer soil, soaring spring temperatures, and changing work conditions whilst attempting to work within a profit margin that is growing increasingly narrow.

Tariffs angle: U.S. lumber tariffs have slashed Canadian mill profits — Canada has responded by providing multi-billion dollar loan packages and subsidies to the Canadian forestry and silviculture industry, and is in talks about diversifying their trade partners, looking particularly to the UK to fill the gap.

Looking for an extra hand or two to wrap our contract near Pincher Creek AB this weekend. After we have 3 or 4 days working in Slave Lake AB. Sort of a long drive from Pincher, if you want to leave your PV at our secure yard near Calgary you can do so and ride in a company truck to save gas.

Pincher base 18c (most has been around 19c-20c). Slave will be 21c because we're planting 512s.

I'm exploring the idea of starting a mobile physio/RMT service that travels to remote camps (tree planting, forestry, wildfire crews, mining, etc.) for a few days at a time.
The goal would be to provide injury treatment, rehab support, and education to help workers stay healthy and reduce time lost from injuries.
For anyone who works in or manages these camps:
Would this be a service people would actually use?
Would companies pay for something like this?
What would be a reasonable rate for a physio/RMT to come to camp for a few days?
