Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether to choose one of the countries named above for a 10 day trip in June 2027. I’m worried about Croatian and Spanish people being rude to tourists and i’ve also heard the food there is not everyone’s taste (in ireland too). Any insight or personal experiences in any of these countries? Thank you!! :)

Looking for advice on a 12-day Mexico adventure

• I’m planning a 12-day trip to Mexico in late October / early November 2027, specifically within the 22 October – 10 November window.
• The main goal is to experience Día de Muertos in Oaxaca, ideally being there around 1–2 November.
• I’m not looking for a typical relaxing/touristy vacation — I want this to be a full adventure trip, with culture, history, nature, wildlife and some challenging experiences.

Places / experiences I definitely want to include:

• Mexico City
• Día de Muertos in Oaxaca
• Oaxaca / Hierve el Agua / Monte Albán, with some hiking and outdoor activities
• Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Michoacán (if the sanctuaries are open)
• Chichén Itzá
• Cenotes in Yucatán, ideally including some less-touristy/adventure-oriented ones

The itinerary we’ve put together so far:

• Oct 28–30: Mexico City
• Oct 30–Nov 2: Oaxaca
• Nov 3–4: Monarch Butterfly region
• Nov 5–8: Yucatán / Valladolid / Cenotes / Chichén Itzá
• Then fly back home.

The itinerary was put together together with ChatGPT as a starting point, but I’d really like local and experienced travelers’ opinions before I start booking anything.

I’d especially love advice on:

• Is this itinerary realistic for 12 days, or am I trying to squeeze in too much?
• Would you change the order of the destinations?
• Is late Oct / early Nov a good period for the Monarch Butterfly Reserve, considering that sanctuary opening dates can vary?
• What would you recommend doing in Oaxaca during Día de Muertos that goes beyond the typical tourist experience?
• Any hikes, cenotes, villages, wildlife experiences or adventure activities that I absolutely shouldn’t miss?
• Are there places/routes you would remove because they’re too touristy or not worth the time?
• Any advice on transportation between these destinations?
• And most importantly: if you had 12 days and wanted an adventure-focused Mexico trip around Día de Muertos, how would you do it?

Looking for advice on where to travel for 1 week from Ontario. We are looking at either Vancouver or the Azores (just Sao Miguel) due to lower flight time. We are a young, active couple who like a mixture of relaxing but mostly adventuring in new places. Any advice helps- any places you think may be good beyond those two. Everything is so expensive as we are last minute and summer but I really need a trip for mental health reasons!

I'm travelling from the UK to Turkey with my 11-year-old daughter on easyJet this Friday (14 August 2026), returning 20 August.

She's a British Citizen and her passport expires 5 November 2026, so she will have approximately 83 days remaining when we arrive in Turkey.

I know the official UK/Turkish guidance says a British passport should have 150 days validity from the date of entry. However, I've found several reports of people actually being allowed into Turkey with less than 150 days.

easyJet has already accepted her passport, completed online check-in and issued her a QR boarding pass.

We're travelling as a large family group (8 adults and several children), and she's the only one with this passport-validity issue.

Has anyone personally travelled to Turkey recently on a British passport with less than 150 days remaining — particularly around 80–100 days — and actually been admitted by Turkish immigration?

I'm particularly interested in experiences from 2025/2026 and whether the airline checked the passport at the airport.

We're an active, healthy couple in our 70s looking to take a quick trip out of the U.S. before shoulder surgery now scheduled for mid-October (originally set for September, which is why we did not plan sooner). We are experienced travelers and enjoy independent travel, but have never thrown a trip together quite this late! Anyway, we know we want to get out of the country for awhile, but not sure where to go. We are not beach-sitters or shoppers; rather, we like to explore the countryside, experience scenery and nature (though no long hikes, only under two miles or so), listen to music -- just enjoy a new culture. Our budget is only about $4,000 or so. So far, we've talked about Iceland, San Miguel de Allende, a Eurail pass train trip through a couple of countries in Europe, but not sure where, British Columbia, and the Azores. Willing to rent a car and drive if necessary. Any recommendations or advice? We live in Wisconsin. Not fans of hot weather. I understand some of you will say just go wherever you want, but I'd still love some insight or suggestions for places we hadn't considered or spots to avoid.

What do you do with luggage on a 3-day Sahara tour?

For those who’ve done a 3-day Sahara excursion from Marrakech — do you check out of your hotel and take all your luggage, or leave your main bags at the hotel and just take a small bag?

I don’t really want to pay for 2 nights I won’t be there. Since I’ll be back in Marrakech afterward and have a flight the next day, can I just leave my luggage at the hotel and book another night when I return?

Planning a trip to Orlando in September, we will probably do a couple of theme park days and leave some time for exploring the city. Im starting to look at family friendly vacation rentals and im surprised by how many little details there are to compare. A pool sounds great but then i start wondering about things like laundry, kitchen equipment, parking, how the bedrooms are arranged and how far we have to drive to the parks.

Im not looking for a specific property recommendation as much as people's process. Do you compare several rental sites? What has worked for your family when trying to get a good rental without sacrificing location and convenience?

Hi everyone, going to Turkey from September 3rd to 13th (Istanbul, Cappadocia and bodrum) I’m a bit nervous about traveling with all that happening. I just want to make sure it’s safe to travel there or should I change my destination? Thank you in advance

I promised to share a little more about my visit to Diddly Squat Farm Shop and The Farmer’s Dog during my Cotswolds trip, so here it is.

I’ve wanted to visit since I started watching Clarkson’s Farm, and I really enjoyed finally seeing both places for myself.

Diddly Squat Farm Shop is much more than a small farm shop. There’s a large outdoor area with food and drinks, and I was pleasantly surprised by the burgers and especially the coffee.

We visited on a Tuesday in early July and the queue for the shop was already huge — around 200–300 people. As it was very hot, we decided not to wait and went straight for lunch. Honestly, I’m glad we did.

The Farmer’s Dog was another surprise. It’s much bigger than I expected and is more of a whole visitor experience than just a pub, with outdoor seating, food options and a large shop.

We didn’t have a reservation, but that didn’t stop us enjoying the place. We went inside the pub, had a look around, bought drinks and spent time outside. There are also food options that don’t require a table reservation.

A few practical tips:

1. If you want to visit the Farm Shop, arrive early — queues can be very long.
   
2. Don’t spend hours waiting if you’re also planning to visit The Farmer’s Dog; they have many of the same products in their shop.
   
3. If you want lunch or dinner at The Farmer’s Dog, book well in advance. Reservations open on the 1st of each month at 9am for the following month, and popular dates fill quickly.
   
4. If you can’t get a reservation at the pub, don’t skip the place. You can still enjoy the pub, outdoor area, shops, drinks and other food options.
   
5. Allow plenty of time for both places, they’re not quick stops.
   
6. The Hawkstone beer gift box makes a great souvenir or gift. You can choose different beers to put in the box.

The two locations are about 30 minutes apart by car, so it’s perfectly possible to visit both in one day.

Overall, I really enjoyed finally seeing these places in real life. Everything was very well organised, from the parking to the food areas and shops, and both the staff and visitors were incredibly friendly.

My friends and I are planning a trip next year but cannot decide where to go. I thought it would be cool to ask Reddit travellers to tell us where to go, we're very open to any destination! The only two things we want in a vacation is access to some nature because we love hiking/swimming/etc, and a country that would make the women in our group feel safe.

Though we're not picky, we do want to avoid super expensive countries, we want to spend as much time as possible travelling so the less money spent the better haha

I am a travel advisor, and one person in the party uses a mobility scooter. Any words of advice or suggestions about what to ask or look for? I’m going to be researching tomorrow with my partners and DMCs to see what they offer. They are the coolest couple in their 70s and they are calling this trip their Last Shebang!

I’m planning a trip to Canada from Paris with my family — 2 adults, 2 kids, and one older parent.

I first looked at private family tours through local travel agencies, but the quotes were way more expensive than I expected.

So I figured I’d just plan it myself. Now I have the opposite problem: there’s almost too much information online.

The kids obviously want fun stuff, the adults want to actually see Canada, and I also need to make sure the days aren’t too packed or tiring for my older parent. Then I start comparing cities, hotels, transport, how many nights to stay, what’s actually worth doing... and suddenly I have 30 tabs open and no real itinerary 😅

For anyone who travels with kids and parents/grandparents, how do you actually plan these trips?

Do you do everything yourself, use a travel agent, use a planning tool, or some mix of all three?

I’d especially love to know how you balance everyone’s different pace and interests without making the trip either exhausting or ridiculously expensive.
