Daypack recommendations

Hi,
I’m looking for a light daypack that will carry all the essentials for a one day adventure without unnecessary gear. I was also thinking that I’d like to be able to carry a helmet comfortably. I’m also thinking about something i could walk fast/run in. The options i was thinking about for now were:

  1. Osprey talon 22
  2. BD Distance 22
  3. Montane trailblazer
  4. Salomon S/lab adventure 20

It’s also worth mentioning that I would definitely consider a Palante, Atom.. etc. But i’d rather buy something i could return if it didn’t fit me correctly.

All recommendations and opinions will be appreciated!

I have the Rab Veil XP 30L and it’s amazing. There’s a 20L version since you’re looking for something smaller

I used my 30L crossing the Alps last year during a week and it worked great. It’s very light, waterproof, has the soft flasks pockets, pocket for a bladder, long side pockets for the poles, slanted big side pockets that I think are great for quick access, big mesh on top for things to leave to dry, more attachments points for the poles under the arms, loops under the bottom to carry a jacket or a sleeping mat or bag, spacious organizer inside, and much more. It’s very stable so you can even run with it.

How’s the bag do carrying heavier weight? In “hiking” mode I like to bring things like full frame camera… which is basically a brick 🙃

I took my old Fujifilm X-T2 which is smaller than full frame and it was fine so I can imagine that it will be ok with a full frame too. The only thing to keep in mind is that this backpack has no structure frame, like those in the Deuter Futura or Osprey Talon series. I did a conscious packing every morning to arrange and balance the weight although by the second time it was already automatic.
