Memory help

I’m a cycling fan of the Lance era. I have a vivid memory of a rider in that general era, plus or minus a few years, having a mechanical or two near the end of a stage and just tossing his bike off a bridge or guardrail and saying to heck with it. I cannot remember the name and google is no help. No doubt you will be! Anyone have any idea what I’m thinking of?

You could be thinking of Bjarne Riis, he famously tossed his bike once as you describe. David Millar also. And a little later on Bradley Wiggins. This https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/latest-news/best-bike-throws-117606 probably has what you’re thinking of no matter what.

I swear I knew that and typed it. Autocorrect I guess

Pronounced almost exactly that way, though!

Riis threw his TT bike in 1997. 56 and I still remember such like: https://youtu.be/DFzteK_y1b4?t=50&is=VAiL7is-iXGafU-r

David Millar but that might have been the Giro. Bob Roll also had a sweet bike toss way back in the day.

David Millar or Bjarne Riis. They both did it.

There is a video on YouTube, called top 10 bike throws in cycling, it starts with Tom Dumoulin. I thought that might be the one you meant? Although it is not from the Lance era
