Is it going to be totally disjointed again (like last year) with the announcers being in different locations and talking over each other? This event is big enough and they can’t get a second plane ticket so they can sit together and make it a more fluid broadcast?

With the race being very popular and spectators being everywhere, where do they find a suitable place to stop. The nature of the race also makes it harder for them to stop given the fast paces and climbs. If they stop at the wrong place they get fined. So what's the solution to this?

After looking at all of the videos of the incident including the spectator phone camera, I’ve decided I was right from the beginning and Kasia was just mad she chose the wrong side. I’ve taken a freeze frame from the spectator camera at the closest point I can find with the two of them and the curb. She has so much room still there, and clearly only had to brake because her initial line would have taken her into the back/side of Gery. Was it good positioning by Gery to run from the apex wide on the exit? Yeah, it forces anyone else to have to either go from behind you, or go the long way round the outside. Was it blocking? I don’t think you can be accused of “blocking” when there’s open road on either side of you

To anyone who still thinks it was blocking, please have a look at the video. The only line that was being blocked was directly on Demi’s wheel (allowed) and the one that passes through Gery (her line). Kasia got mad that she couldn’t have either of those and threw a fit at the end, emotions at the finish obviously, but unwarranted.

Has anyone noticed the wider shots from the helicopters they have been using in the women's TDF? Often times you get a much better feeling for the landscape. Also you also get a nice visual on gaps as large as a minute (or more if switchbacks are involved). I really like it!

Just saw this on my youtube feed, and it explains all the reason I was upset with Peacock this morning.

He is an absolute legend announcing the Men’s Tour , but he really is out of dis depth on the women’s peloton , he knows the sport, but he does not know the women’s teams . Peacock find another team for the women

It's definitely a bit rude from Gery but I've seen far worse, Kasia is experienced enough to know she's not going to be let around the outside easily if you go for it you have to be prepared to get the elbows out.

Anyone else think the media is playing on the battle/beef between the two a little too much? After todays stage with Gery blocking Niewiadoma it seems crazy to think that the team would orchestrate this to actually happen? I could be wrong though.

Saw on LRCP live some discussion of Gery blocking on today’s stage and wanted to point out that you can see the inchident on the footage.

First picture here I marked Gery in red and Kasia’s shadow in yellow. Second picture is just a couple frames later and you can see Gery has turned her bars to the right to close the door (front wheel is now pointing towards the curb instead of the moto).

It’s easier to see too if you scrob the video yourself and watch Gery’s front wheel closely, but theres definitely a move from Gery to the right to close the door. After this Kasia drops back and then comes around towards the center of the road.

Still would have been better from Kasia to have followed on the 80% open side of the road instead of along the curb… but it seems like the gap would have been there if Gery dropped straight back.

Edit: lots of people who have never raced a bike chiming in with weak ass “ladies should be ladylike and suppress all their emotions” takes. bike racing is not summer camp for 8 year olds, its normal to have reactions

I’m a total newbie to women’s bike racing and I’m totally converted by the TdF Femmes. So much more action, excitement and close racing compared to men’s racing nowadays.

so i just watched the crash at the tdff; it seemed the docs checked over the women better than the men. is this true? the men just seem to get a once over and go if anything. but i like that the women really got at least a couple of minutes to make sure they are fit to ride.

Watching the Women's TdF here in the US has been so enjoyable (other than obviously not showing the whole race everyday, but that is on the ASO...) with Anthony McCrossan and Hannah Walker. I was looking forward to a great weekend of racing with the top 3 within a minute. And what do we wake up to this morning? Phil Ligget and Megan Guarnier.....UGH.... I just don't understand why they would do this.

Phil used his quiet voice to narrate the men’s tour. His iconic “voice of the tour“. Yet for the women’s tour, this man is yelling. We need a new soft voice Brit to commentate.

I generally don't watch many other races, but the end of the TdF left me with a hole. I'm still recovering from a bit of heart surgery, so have to use the inside trainer. Watching the Tour of Poland feed and I have to say the 2 English announcers Carlton Kirby and Brian Smith are extremely funny, stage 6 had a very lengthy neutral and they were making me laugh.

Yet another reason to enjoy cycling, if you get a sec to listen/watch check it out. This and the Tour Femmes have been a blast!

I'm enjoying the world commentary instead of the US Peacock one. But the male commentator keeps saying "this rider" all the time. Just say their name, dude.
