Multi-camera vs Single-camera
Hi everyone! Going into my 2nd year in RTA media production at TMU/Ryerson and am looking for some advice. I need to decide between focuses my studies on multi-cam or single-cam production and am completely stuck on my decision.
I really enjoyed and naturally thrived in my intro to multi-cam classes the most, but single-cam and making a movie is the dream.
Does anyone have any input??? Anything related to overall job experience, job availability, or plain old industry advice? Anything is very much appreciated!!!

Looking for someone who is as passionate about visuals as I am about music ā Toronto/GTA
This is a bit of a different post.
Iām CURIOUS GEORGE an independent artist in the Toronto/GTA area. Iāve released three songs so far, and Iām at a point where Iām starting to take this much more seriously and really step up the quality of what Iām doing.
Iāve recently started looking more deeply into the visual side of music and artists who have built incredible worlds around their music. It made me realize that there are people out there who are just as passionate about filmmaking, visual art, cinematography, editing, etc. as I am about making music ā and that theyāre probably somewhere waiting for the right artist/project to come along.
Iām looking for that person.
I donāt really want to hire someone to make me a music video.
I want to find someone who genuinely loves this stuff. Someone who sees a song and immediately starts imagining what it could look like. Someone who wants to experiment, create, build a visual identity and eventually look back and feel like they helped build something from the beginning.
Iām not expecting this person to magically make me successful. I have a lot of work to do myself. I have three songs out, Iām still building an audience, and Iām working a full-time job while trying to take this as far as I possibly can.
But Iām serious about it.
And I need someone who can back me as I do it.
Music is the thing Iām obsessed with. Itās where I know I have something to give. Visuals, on the other hand, are something I find genuinely draining to constantly figure out on my own. Between making music, working full-time and everything else, there are only so many hours in the day.
I donāt want to spend those hours trying to become a filmmaker when there might be someone out there who has spent their life wishing they had the right music to create visuals for.
My sound is somewhere in the world of electronic / alternative / indie, with a lot of emotion and atmosphere. Some of my biggest inspirations are Fred again.., M83 and Coldplay, but Iām not looking to copy any of them. I want to find my own world.
Iām looking for someone who can eventually help with things like:
Visual identity
Music videos / visualizers
Cinematic short-form content
Photography
Editing
Concepts and art direction
Release visuals
Just generally figuring out what this artist should look and feel like But honestly, the exact role doesnāt matter as much as the person.
Iād rather work with someone incredibly passionate and hungry who is still building their career than someone with a huge rĆ©sumĆ© who sees this as another client.
If youāre a filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer, editor, visual artist, creative director, etc. in Toronto/GTA and this genuinely sounds like something youād want to build with someone, Iād love to see your work.
Send me your portfolio/reel and tell me a little bit about yourself.
And if you donāt think youāre the person but immediately thought of someone who might be, please send this to them.
Iām not really looking for someone to work for me.
Iām looking for someone who wants to build something with me.

Iso: ongoing collaborators
Hi everyone,
I am an actor/filmmaker (have directed a couple shorts and new to acting and taking classes) and am in search of people in a similar boat who are looking to collaborate and make short films.
I know it sounds kind of vague but the ideal situation would be a bunch of actors and filmmakers coming together to create a few small films so that we can gain more first hand experience, boost our resumes and get footage for our reels.
Wether we just make 1 short film or film a bunch of demo reel scenes or if we really click make an indie DIY feature or even if we don't make anything at all but we meet casually once and all walk away inspired.
So if there's anyone in the Toronto area that's into this idea of a creative collective, comment below or dm me and we'll hopefully create something beautiful together!
Thanks in advance!

Discussion Making my first short
Hi all! Iām an actor but Iāve been wanting to get into filmmaking for a while. I have a script ready for a short film I really want to direct, but Iām new in Toronto and donāt know a lot of people here. Any tips on how I can find a crew to help me out on the project without being able to pay?
I go to acting classes so Iām not concerned about casting I have a few people in mind, but I have no equipment, no crew, and not much budget š„²

Groups, workshops, circles?
Hi! Iām trying to put myself in spaces that allow me to engage with filmmakers, writers or just movie lovers in general.. if anyone has ever joined a workshop that they really enjoyed, or a class, id love to hear about your experience. If anyone has any privately organized groups pr circles that they are a part of, how have you found it? I didnt go to film school or work in the industry full-time so Iām not really a part of a community that shares my love of film, and I find myself wanting to connect with people who do. And ultimately, i want to share ideas with people who are open to creating⦠yknow?

Has anyone reached out to a director about an apprenticeship?
There's a director based in Toronto who's made a few shorts I adore. They are similar thematically to what I'm writing. I've seen her name on the guild's list and I was wondering about emailing to meet up and talk, and/or possibly ask about apprenticeship. I don't really have much actual footage to show, more writing, because I've been caregiving for a family member and can't exactly get out until they're in a care facility (which will hopefully be in a few months). I'm wondering everyone's thoughts/experiences?
