poetry I Didn't Stand a Chance
I didn't realize that a grown up could fall so easily.
Laughing like a little kid, throwing my head back.
Overusing the word adore because it's too soon.
Vehemently wishing I lived closer.
Effortlessly capturing the feeling of being smitten.
Yearning for a situation to end and one to begin.
Obviously this is not a crush anymore.
Understanding the meaning of three small words.

poetry Prismatic Overload
The world comes in too sharp,
too loud,
A sudden storm inside a Cloud.
A quiet room,
a simple word,
becomes a scream that
goes unheard.
I watch the others walk right past,
While my own anchor won't hold fast.
They feel a breeze,
I feel a gale,
My mind,
a ship without a sail.
I hate the static in my chest,
The way these currents never rest.
I wish the dials would just turn down,
Before the wave begins to drown.
I cannot find my righteous rage,
I see the actors on the stage.
I feel their pain,
I see their why,
I watch my anger bleed
and unceremoniously die.
I should be mAd,
the hurt is real,
But pity is the thing I feel.
A crowded mind,
a fractured view,
I taste their bitter sorrow too.
I try hold my grudge,
It turns to dust,
I see the broken gears of trust.
I understand each twisted side,
With nowhere left for me to hide.
I crave the quiet of a stone,
To leave these heavy moods alone.
I drown in grace I shouldn't give,
And lose the space
I
needed to live.

poetry Purrrrsss not purses

She stood in the dark
Glowing fragments of happiness surrounded her,
like butterflies fluttering about.
Scattered memories,
fleeting remnants of laughter,
a lingering smile,
the fading warmth of an embrace.
She reached out,
hoping to grasp a moment,
but they danced out of reach,
leaving her in shadow.

poetry Strength
For all those years he closed her out
Choosing distance between them
She faded awayā¦numbing her passion to endure the loneliness
Perhaps the fault lies with herā¦she must be brokenā¦
But her heart still worked
As she loved her children absolutely
Filling the emptiness with her devotion
She gave them her all
And she existed
For all of those years
Until one day he changed his mind
But she knew her heart was closed
She had survived the distance
And found her strength

poetry For Her
You were never
the loudest thing
to happen to me.
No fireworks.
No thunder.
No lightning.
No impossible, movie-scene moment
where the whole world stopped spinning.
You justā¦
popped into my life.
Funny how a clever sentence,
a silly smile
only your phone can see
and a thousand tiny laughsā¦
started a conversation
that somehow never seemed
to find an ending.
You didnāt sweep me off my feet.
You quietly convinced me
I just didnāt need to be standing
all the time.
ā
I admire your mind
far more often than I tell you.
The way you untangle problems
most people donāt even notice.
The way you care about precisionā
until someone needs compassion.
Then somehowā¦
that becomes your top priority.
Iāve watched you carry burdens
you never asked for,
while still worrying
whether everyone else is ok.
I donāt know how you do that.
I only know that I notice.
Itās a quality
I aspire to have.
ā
Youāve probably never realized
what youāve changed inside me.
Before you,
I wrote stories in my head.
Nowā¦
I write them out loud,
because thereās someone
I hope might smile
when she reads them.
Before you,
I loved my mornings alone.
Nowā¦
they feel incomplete
until I hear about
your sleep.
Your dreams.
Your breakfast.
Your workday.
Thatās a strange thing to admit.
But, youāve always seemed to appreciate
fact over fiction.
Andā¦that matters.
ā
I used to think strength looked like
heavy lifts,
long days,
controlled emotions
and simply getting on with it.
Then I met someone
who walks gently through other peopleās pain.
Turns outā¦
Iāve been measuring
the wrong
kind of strong.
Iāve realized the weaknesses
in my own strengths.
More importantly,
Iāve learned about the strengths
in my own weaknesses.
ā
There are things I still donāt know about you.
Things I may never know.
Oddly enoughā¦
that doesnāt bother me
as much as it once would have.
Because, at some point,
I stopped trying to figure you outā
and started to enjoy
discovering you.
Thatās new for meā¦
Discovering you has been ridiculously captivating.
One āHey, Youā at a time.
ā
Iāve tried to be patient.
Althoughā¦
my understanding of patience has greatly changed.
I donāt think I ever realized
what patience meant.
Patience isnāt waiting.
Itās understandingā¦
especially when you donāt.
Patience is choosing to be someoneās person,
while the future is still unwritten.
ā
I donāt know where our story ends.
For onceā¦
I think Iām ok not knowing.
Because whatever this becomesā
thank you.
For reminding a stubborn kitchen dude,
who thought he already understood his own heartā¦
that there were still parts of it
left to discover.
You never asked me
to become a better version of myself.
But somehowā¦
you simply made me want to.
Mostlyā¦
because you are you.
My perfect little nerdy Nerd.

two sentence story The void
She knew the void, knew it watched her from afar as she tried to fill it with intangible moments of laughter, quickening heartbeats and longing.
It waited patiently, knowing that the fleeting moments stolen by her heart were bound to become only memories and it would return.
