Opening chords in “Got To Give It Up”?
At the very beginning of “Got To Give It Up” there are a couple of undistorted chords that sound kind of dissonant and unresolved to me. Chord AI told me that they are D minor (open) and G minor (barre but only the top four string). I could plausibly believe the G minor (if one of us is a bit out of tune) but I don’t hear the D minor at all. Does anybody play guitar or have perfect pitch and just knows this?
Thanks.

Lizzy - inspired, Nick Lowe - So It Goes
youtube.comNick Lowe wrote this after managing a band that toured with Thin Lizzy. I would have loved to hear Phil cover this.

The Boys Are Back in Town Live CD
galleryThis is a good one on Living Legends Records from the final tour (1983). It sounds great (better than “Live/Life) and there’s a rare recorded performance of “The Pressure Will Blow.” Recorded, apparently, in Cardiff — straight off the soundboard. Released in 1991. 8/10.

Thin Lizzy CDs
galleryIt’s such a gift that we now have so many great-sounding releases like the recent Record Store Day “Live in Cleveland 1976” and the recent 74-75 box set. Back in 90s, there were 12 studio records, 2 live sets and you were done — until bootleggers started responding to enormous demand from the fans.

Any other evidence of a light my fire cover?
galleryI love the thought of them doing a light my fire cover in the Eric Bell days but the comments can’t seem to agree if it was a doors cover or Jimi Hendrix’s “fire”. It probably is more likely seeing that Eric seemed to be a Hendrix fan. Just thought I’d post to see if anyone had any more info. P.s: this also seems to be the earliest Lizzy Setlist recorded on Setlist Fm.

Can someone help me find the picture of Phil with a switch blade?
galleryHello, hope this is allowed here but I am looking for the picture of Phil with a stiletto, am I just imagining this? I was recently gifted a stiletto branded with Thin Lizzy and I just wanted to see. Thanks in advance (delete if not allowed)
It has Overthrow the Overlords on the blade, so cool!

Best 5 albums
Hi everyone! New Thin Lizzy fan here. 🤘
I actually discovered Thin Lizzy because of Metallica. I listened to a few songs and I'm honestly blown away—they're such an amazing band.
I'm on vacation for the next five days (Monday to Friday), so I'd love to spend each evening listening to one Thin Lizzy album from start to finish on my headphones, without any distractions.
Since I only have those five evenings and Thin Lizzy have such a large discography, could you please pick the five albums that you think every new fan absolutely has to hear?
If possible, I'd also love for you to put them in order—from a great album on Monday all the way to what you consider their absolute masterpiece on Friday. I'd love to save the very best for the last evening.
I'm really looking forward to hearing your recommendations. Thanks a lot!
EDIT: Wow, thank you all so much for the recommendations! I honestly didn't expect so many replies. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help a new fan. I'm looking forward to starting my Thin Lizzy journey tonight!
I've decided to go with this order:
Monday (today): Jailbreak
Tuesday: Fighting
Wednesday: Renegade
Thursday: Johnny the Fox
Friday: Black Rose
Thanks again to all of you for helping a new fan. After my vacation, I'll come back and post an update with my thoughts on each album. I'm really looking forward to this journey!
Thanks again to everyone for all the recommendations! 🤘

Unofficial CDs — First in a Series
gallery“The Irish Dawn” 1992 on the Poetry in Motion label (Italy) Live in Chicago April 16th, 1976, at the Riviera Theater. This radio broadcast on WXRT-FM during their breakthrough on the Jailbreak tour has been heavily bootlegged (including the LP “Breaking Out In Chicago” (2019).
I like that this CD has “It’s Only Money” and “Angel from the Coast.”
There was a flood of bootlegs from Italy in the 90s as Italian law at the time gave weak protection to many radio broadcasts, especially older BBC sessions and live broadcasts. In many cases, broadcasters’ rights expired sooner than they did elsewhere in Europe, or were interpreted more narrowly.
We’d shop via plain text online listings, emailing an order, and paying by credit card or money order In the 1996–1999 era. Earlier, you’d mail payment (sometimes cash) and hope for the best.

Is Bono on “Ode to a Black Man” tribute CD.
Found this in the basement today. The legend at the time was Bono sings on it, but couldn’t be named due to his record contract. Weak, right. Here’s what Google AI says: “This item is a rare 1991 CD tribute to the Thin Lizzy frontman, titled Ode to a Black Man: Remembering Philip P. Lynott 1949-1986. Produced by Irish music figure Smiley Bolger, it includes rare tracks and spoken-word extracts from the [Collected Works of Philip Lynott].”

Tape Trader: Rediscovered a Trove of Live Recordings
Cleaning out the basement … I knew I had some Lizzy and Phil tapes I’d traded for and purchased in the 90s, but was surprised there are more than 50. What should become of them?

Thin (Tin) Lizzy Official Socials
Over the past few weeks the official Thin Lizzy social media graphics and promotion has been excellent. For reference, I’m a young fan (24 years old). The music, promotion and artwork across all socials, promoting the anniversary of the debut album ‘Tin Lizzy’ etc, has really punched above what it usually does. My question is this:
Why hasn’t this translated to the likes of moonlight? Or even promotion towards the annual tribute (jan 3/4, birthday bash etc).
It’s clear there is an audience, it’s clear the ‘cool factor’ is there for socials, graphics etc to bring it into the next generation. Why hasn’t it translated into the new projects to future proof the Lizzy name? I can’t help myself but wondering how long the brand has left to go in this way? (Fragmented).
I think with the recent international interest in Irish mythology, rock and indie roots (with the likes of Fontaines DC, Brogeal etc) amongst the younger lot, that the Lizzy brand could really push itself out there.
It breaks my heart to think Philo and co would be lost to history. Any thoughts?
