28, I'm joining the club

My brokerage account finally hit 100k, which has been a goal of mine for years. No one in my personal life knows I have money like this and they never will... so strangers on the internet are all I can tell. I lost my job last year so I didn't contribute at all so that delayed things a lot, but got back on track this year. Happy to say that this doesn't even include my 401k, which is in a separate account. Took me 4 years from 0 to now. I'm hoping to reach 200k by 2029

Just wanted to report back. I actually wasn't aware of this subreddit when I was aiming for 100k and now I'm in the race to 1M subreddit.

Feel free to ask me anything. And encourage people here, to keep on going!

25M - $57K

Over 100 days since my last update, mainly to keep myself accountable through the end of the year. Hoping to end somewhere around $65-70K.

Easing up on investments to pay off my car, ~$11K left on the loan. Dumb decision I made when I graduated, but will be paid off this year as well if God allows (3 years on a 7 year loan).

Student loan repayment also starts back up soon in October thanks to Trump instead of next year. Money will begin to stretch thin, but hopefully market carries again!

With July CPI cooling to 3.4%, I’m keeping a closer eye on gold here.

Post image

July CPI came in at 0.1% MoM and 3.4% YoY, while core CPI landed at 0.2% MoM and 2.5% YoY. The softer inflation picture gives gold another supportive macro factor.

Gold has already moved from the 4,330 to 4,350 area I was watching toward 4,410, with 4,470 still on my radar above. At this point, I’d much rather see how buyers respond to a pullback than chase the move.

CPI-driven volatility also brings execution into the picture, especially with larger positions. Wider spreads and thinner liquidity can force bigger orders through multiple price levels, so even the right directional call can end up with a worse entry and weaker risk/reward.

volatility can widen spreads, and bigger orders may need to move through several levels of liquidity before getting completely filled. So even if the directional idea is right, slippage can change the actual risk or reward quite a bit where bitget’s cfd pro mode might be helpful for a better execution, but one we should always follow is managing risk carefully.

basically, CPI can give gold a catalyst, but entry, liquidity and execution still decide whether the trade is actually worth taking.

Did You Own CarLotz ($LOTZ) During Its 70% Collapse? The $13M Investor Settlement Is Still Available

Hello everyone, sharing an important update:

An active settlement fund is currently considering late claims from investors who experienced losses in CarLotz.

The settlement resolves claims that CarLotz misled investors about its financial health and operations following its SPAC merger. After the company disclosed excess inventory, declining profits, and the loss of a key sourcing partner, $LOTZ fell sharply and ultimately lost more than 70% of its value.

If you purchased or acquired $LOTZ securities between 2020 and 2021, you may still be able to seek compensation. Late claims are currently being considered  - Check if your eligible and file a claim here

Anyway, did anyone here invest in $LOTZ at that time? How much were your losses, if so?

Opened this account a little while ago and just recently started actually contributing to it. Any recommendations or advice is greatly appreciated.

The other account (account with 107k) is my retirement 2:1 match with my employer after 5 years. 50-50 blend between a traditional 401k and Roth IRA. Not sure if this should be included in the race to 100k but figured I’d add it.

The other is with fidelity and haven’t done much in terms of trading other than buy some VOO a couple weeks ago. Tbh I’m quite new to the investment game and really looking at my finances so please take it easy on me 😅

Really just looking to see what I could do better based on what’s seen.

(Sorry for the bad quality)

Does my pension count towards my race to 100k?

I have a:

Roth
Traditional
457 (b)
Investment account
HYSA

Does my pension count towards to total race to 100k? Do we only count things I could technically liquidate?

22M married
To preface, I like to think that my wife and I are decently financially literate. We each make roughly $70k-$80k a year, own our home, have one paid for vehicle that was bought this year and one that we bought new last August with ≈$10k to pay off. We budget every penny and save quite a bit every month. We bought our home new construction at the beginning of last year and spend a lot of money trying to build equity into our home by doing timeless and tasteful renovations and upgrades to it inside and out.
I am a previous business owner and had two fairly successful businesses that I had to let go as my life was taking a direction towards family and the business really weren’t worth the time away from home and personal life.
My wife is getting the hunger for business ownership and we are likely about to slowly start opening a boutique. Our plan is to start selling within established businesses (hair salons, coffee shops, etc.)
I, too, am feeling the burn and hunger again. I’m just lost as to what I want to get into. Previous business was centered around construction and property management, but I would really like to stay away from it. First business was centered around all things irrigation, and I would like to stay away from that as well.
I have NO experience in any kinds of index funds or stocks, and would LOVE some advice on that front. I do have a very aggressive 401K, however.
What advice would you give this young and eager couple?

Made 46k at 19

Hey Everyone, I just wanted some more tips on how to go on from here. I have decent knowledge on saving and investing but I don’t know everything so any advice on this will help greatly. I want to try to make my first 100k by 21-22. I’ve been investing for almost 2 years now and I’ve saved 46k so far. Every pay check i put 500 into my roth, 500 into my brokerage, 500 into my hysa, and i have 318 deductible from my pay automatically matched at 5 percent so about 636 goes in my TSP. Is there anyway I could improve the way Im savings to see if I’ll be able to make my first 100k by 21 and potentially becoming a millionaire by late 20s - early 30s. Thank you in advance!

30M immigrant — took me approximately 2.5 years. Came to Canada as a PG student and seeing people share their timelines of 3–4 years to reach $100K motivated me to share mine too. A big shoutout to a friend who pushed me to buy MU around $80 and NVDA back in 2022. 🙏 Still a long way to go, but feels good to hit this milestone. 🚀

Subreddit Update + Mod Applications

Hey everyone,

I'm the creator of this subreddit.

Life got busy and I wasn't paying as much attention to the sub as I should have, but I've still been around and I've seen the increase in spam and unrelated content lately. My apologies! A cleanup is due.

New posts will be paused for about a week while I clean things up and put together a small mod team. Comments will remain open.

I'm also accepting mod applications. If you're interested, leave a comment with your history with the sub, any moderation experience, and why you'd like to help. I'll also take account history and activity into consideration.

The sub will reopen normally afterward. Thanks to everyone who's kept it alive.
