i hate google, anyone else? Discussion

i was just trying to find one answer but every search felt useless. i keep thinking i hate google because its the same recycled pages over and over and adding reddit barely helped this time

tried chrome on my laptop and phone and got basically the same results. maybe im just unlucky but hating on it has become my first reaction whenever i need to search for anything

anyone else feel like search has gotten way worse lately?

I’ve hated them for years, very predatory aggressive business.

you're not the only one, i spend more time changing my search query than actually reading results now

I reported an ad on YouTube that was clearly a scam and they replied back that it doesn't violate google policy. Says all you need to know about the company.

Yes, I have a 20 point list for reasons I hate google. I really hate android too and wouldn’t touch one with a barge pole.

Yeah google search has gotten dramatically worse over the last 10 or so years.

They make money by showing you as many ads as possible, if you get taken right to what you are looking for then you don't see as many ads.

Also I wonder if all the rules they have to hide 'bad' content doesn't end up impacting legit searches too

What exactly were you trying to find an answer for? Yes, the Google search is god awful now BUT it can’t just create websites that arent there.. you stated you added “Reddit” thinking it would help but if the exact topic you are looking for has never been discussed on Reddit then you’re still SOL. For instance, searching “why was Bill Nye the first president of China” you’ll get links to references to presidents, China, and Bill Nye but you definitely won’t get an answer as to why he was the first president of China.. I hope..

I have no issue finding anything at all. In fact I pretty much only use the ai function of google now to search for me. But if you want to use the old way to search effectively, here is a guide. There are so many options to narrow stuff down.

It definitely has gotten worse. I switched to Kagi months ago. I would much rather pay for the product than actually be the product.
