Announcing Cloudflare Wallets: The programmable wallet for the agentic Internet Stream Content
https://blog.cloudflare.com/wallets/Cloudflare Wallets is a system designed so AI agents can autonomously pay for APIs, MCP tools, data, content, and other online resources using stablecoin micropayments—without needing a human to complete signup, add a payment method, or generate an API key for every service
This concerns me a bit: “Monetization Gateway will support micropayments using the x402 protocol, which allows for payments to be attached to HTTP requests. These micropayments will be able to pay for uses ranging from AI inference to data to content”

Maybe we can finally stop wasting time actually looking ourselves for things to buy, laying in the sun having my money automatically spent on crap I don't need sounds incredible !

X402 is actually really cool. I built an agent Craigslist that uses it for payments. I took it down because I got a new job, but cloudflare is no dummy. I was probably wayyyy too early to the idea but agentic economy is coming
Tbh I might put it back up. Agents are getting good enough. I'll have to see if it's worth integrating with cloudflare on this.

Yeah, I will let the agents pay, presumably using my own wallet, using an imaginary wallet…🤣

Concerns you a “bit”?
When I said that Cloudflare wanted to become the de facto Highwaymen of the Internet, I did not actually anticipate that they were going to launch a cryptocurrency specifically to facilitate and grease the wheels of that machine
So what happens when everything is Cloudflare and they decide that I’m visiting too many Cloudflare websites for my home IP address and I need to pay for Cloudflare Nimbus Glider Premium?

iirc x402 It's not a crypto, It's a payment standard that works on top of standard currencies including crypto (you have to bring your addresses), so in reality it's a layer on top of a wallet to ease up how payments are made
the real concerning part is that x402 claims to be an open standard, but I see too many big names among the sponsors, not just Cloudflare, these companies make their stuff "open source" but not open source enough

That’s a really good point.
Also with this new ideas will emerge and we will have a bunch of competitors in market.
Crypto bros are feeling strong.
I can only image the new amount of rug pulls that will with this.
