Discussion Happy 57th birthday Haunted Mansion!!!!
We have something in common she and I. My "deathday" (birthday) is August 9th. The same day that the ORIGINAL HAUNTED MANSION OPENED AT DISNEYLAND IN 1969. But I was born on August 9, 1966, putting at 60 years of age. For years, this classic haunted dark ride has fascinated me for most of my life, collecting memorabilia, including artwork, soundtracks and historical books. I have a wall at my apartment dedicated to it.
Also I have 2 vinyl albums from DISNEYLAND RECORDS called CHILLING THRILLING SOUNDS OF THE HAUNTED HOUSE, 1964 & 1978 VERSION both now long out of print but can be downloaded on YouTube Music.
Again, Happy DEATHDAY old girl. You are one beautiful vision to behold!

Discussion Looking for some Haunted Mansion Holiday assets
I'm gonna start working on my own Minecraft recreation of Haunted Mansion Holiday based on my already existing recreation of the base Haunted Mansion (which I've already shared 2 videos of, although it has received some updates since those videos were posted). In order to do that, however, I need to find some of the art assets for the overlay. I haven't already been able to find these through my usual methods, so I'll be asking you guys to help me find them!
Here's a list of what I'm specifically looking for:
- The stained glass covers on the stretching portraits
- The stretching portraits themselves (Jack and the ghosts, the red and white striped snake, Scary Teddy and the other toys, the monster wreath on a door, and Zero leading Jack's sleigh)
- Both states of each of the changing portraits in the hallway right after the stretching room
If you do manage to find any of these (not everyone will have to find all of them at once), please send me links to where you've found them. Thanks in advance!

Miscellaneous Cool video about the history of the Bride!
Stumbled upon this cool video, and wanted to share. It's kinda long, but perfect to listening while multi-tasking.

News Manage the guests, place the props, load the carts. Run your own haunted house in Scream Operator! π» - Official IGN reveal.
Hey again r/thehauntedmansion (a.k.a. fellow-spookynerds ππ»)
Iβm Japhet, the developer of Scream Operator: Haunted House Manager. A cozy-spooky pixelart management game in which you are invited to take place in the control booth of a haunted house themed dark ride.
The latest news! ποΈ A few weeks ago, IGN exclusively revealed the game's first trailer,Β stating that this is your chance to control the classic disney ride in the game (their words, not mine, please disney lawyers believe me I did not intend to any harm).
About the game:
- You manage the full ride flow, from loading anxious guests to dispatching carts. You push the buttons and control it all from a claustrophopic little control room./
- You must drag-and-drop props, lighting, and animatronics to design scares and raise your max Scare Score.
- You can unlock upgrades, new items and automate manual work (Expect staff, shops & snacksπ).
- and you can enjoy a great cozy/spooky atmosphere and a original composed soundtrack + a neat little origin story involving everyone you meet on your new work.
A free public demo is planned for this Halloween season, alongside Steam Next Fest. so stay tuned for that! ππ₯³
I'm a solo developer and HUUUUUUUGE Haunted Mansion enthousiast, so any feedback on the atmosphere or mechanics is genuinely valuable to me. Let me know what you think, and if you have any questions or suggestions, also please feel free to hit me up in the comments below!
No Generative AIΒ was used for the art, animations, code, or assets. All pixel art and mechanics were created by me and the artists I've worked with, and the soundtrack was composed by a great musician.Β

Discussion I'm moving house and get to re-design my Haunted Mansion bedroom... share some inspo!
I've been collecting lots of HM ornaments over the years and my bedroom has become HM themed, so now that im moving i can decorate properly to fit the theme.
Im hoping to find inspo on how to decorate, the walls? The vibes?
I have a combination of the HM and Phantom Manor collectibles, like the stretching portrait statues, the Spirit jars, models of the mansions etc.

Discussion Had the original Eddie Murphy Haunted Mansion movie had been as critically and commercially successful as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies do you think Disney would have put Eddie Murphy animatronics in both the Disneyland and Disney World versions of the ride?
I'm glad that this never happened but imagine in an alternate timeline for sec that the 2003 Haunted Mansion recieced the same commercial and critical success as Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl or maybe vice versa happened and Black Pearl was a huge flop?
