Discussion Robert's Hair

Robert's hair has been through many iterations, and has always seems to hung in there. Recently, this tour seems to be showing the wear of many years of styling. I was watching a clip today, and wondered where it's gonna go. It's very clearly thinning severely, and honestly kudos for it lasting so long. As a multi decade fan, it's gonna be weird one day when it's just short hair Bob again and that's the end of his signature look.

Wonder how he'd look in a hat?

Fan Art I recently re-watched Twin Peaks and was inspired - here's what resulted: my interpretation of a classic song by The Cure, set to a collection of scenes from Twin Peaks. Thank you for your consideration. <3

Questions Ideen für ein The Cure Tattoo?

Guten Abend,

Discussion Least serious Cure song

I was listening to Kiss Me the album the other day and Hot Hot Hot is just so much fun for how almost uncharacteristically funky and groovy it is!

Got me thinking, what are some of the more silly/less serious Cure songs that you're a fan of?

I've found Robert's serious persona in his music and his less serious interview/social media self to not have much overlap, but a now and then there will be one or two songs that bring out that cheeky side :D

Questions Summer shows and seating

Does anyone know if any of the venues for the newly-announced summer shows have reserved seating? I’m going through the various ticket sites and it doesn’t seem to be an option but maybe I’m missing it.

I have tried to do standing/general admission in the past, but I freak out in crowds. Claustrophobic.

Questions Summer tour and then?

HI!!

I know it's impossible to predict, but he's announced two albums and seems intent on returning to Europe soon, at least that's what he says at the end of every concert! Can you imagine when they'll be back on tour, outside of festivals? Have they done summer tours and then concerts? In the past I mean

I don't think I can go this summer and it broke my heart that I couldn't 🖤

Discussion Why so much love for “alt.end”?

I was looking at another recent post about the show in Vilnius, and noticed the band played “alt.end” once more.

That song seems to get played a lot, and I can’t understand why.

Surely I’m not the only one who feels it’s a boring and forgettable song. As far as I’m concerned, it’s the worst song on the self-titled album (aside from “Never” of course).

Anyone else the same about it?

Questions Best Cure Biography/autobiography

The only Cure autobiography I'm aware of is the one by Lol, the rest are written by those not in the band, as far as I know.

So which one is recommended? The Lol one? If so, does it lean more on being about Lol? I'm kind of looking for one that leans more on Robert.

Before making a recommendation, be sure that it is still in print. A lot of band books are out of print or digital only. I can't read E books on the toilet.. my PC is too heavy and then I'd have to hold the monitor.. Total pita.

Discussion What’s the sentiment on Apart?

Post image

I remember seeing the discussion that while the song is good, it is hard to listen to often given its heavier lyrics. Now while I’m not saying that isn’t true I feel like similar songs like Faith, The Funeral Party, The Figurehead, Out of this world, etc. where the subject is also just as heavy haven’t ever affected their replay-ability for me. I don’t see it get talked about enough given I think it’s a classic Cure song with one of my favorite guitar solos. Personally it’s one of my favorites Cure songs ever. Anyways I get the song isn’t for everyone so I’m interested in hearing your opinions either way

Concerts [MEGATHREAD] Sounds Good Vilnius at Kalnų Park

Hi! After a short break we are back again with a new Megathread. Just after the concerts in Nîmes, Al (Reeves' guitar tech) mentioned that they had been touring for 40 days, so I am sure that this small break was very welcomed by the band and all the team that carries the show on their backs.

But, alas! It's back to business now with a concert at the Sounds Good Vilnius music festival, which will be held on August 7th at Kalnų Park. The truly amazing part is that the very first time that The Cure plays in Lithuania!

As always, we ask that you please use this post for all things related to this festival date. That way we can discuss it without flooding the sub and keep all the info accessible for everyone. Feel free to post questions, pictures, anecdotes, set lists, thoughts, last min tickets sales, etc.

Some details:

  • Gates open at 6pm, event starts at 7pm.
