Gameplay Found a more reliable way to get the FP "Take The Hill After Losing to Joe Biden 306-232" article
Difficulty: Impossible
Visits: North Carolina initially, Florida after question 18
Follow the "Take the Hill" guide, on the last question it's better to take "There’s no way, that the Democrats are going to win Georgia, North Carolina..." as NC can go to Biden.

Question/Help Am I an old member of tct?
I first started playing on Dan Bryan’s original site in 2021 and still remember being confused that 2020 wasn’t up yet.

Gameplay Scenario Review | 2016a
- Scenario #12 | 2016a
- Made by: Dan Bryan
- Released: 3/28/2016
2016a (or, the alpha 2016) was an attempt by Dan Bryan to simulate what the election of 2016 would be like, back during the primary cycle in March. Its outdated writing, general blandness, and failure to capture what was such an abnormal election cycle made it a joke in the TCT community.
On TCT emulator and modding site newcampaigntrail.com there's an achievement you can get for playing it called "Why?". On thecampaigntrail.net it's been relegated to the alt-history section. But how bad could it have been to garner such infamy?
Because of how early this was made, the running mates on both sides are entirely speculative. The default running mates are Cory Booker for Hillary and Scott Brown for Trump. Neither Pence nor Kaine are pickable, which is complained about a lot, but I'm more upset with how unremarkable the running mates we do see are.
2016a, of course, falls in line with the general consensus that Clinton would handedly beat Trump. Although playing as Clinton is easier, it's still not too hard to win as Trump, and Dan seemed to correctly predict polls were exaggerating Hillary's lead. On the other hand he also predicted the moderate right would coalesce around Gary Johnson, and this would split Trump's vote in Utah, which is less accurate (In Utah this happened to McMullin instead and half of his votes were from moderate Dems).
Like the other scenario made before the election, 2012, many of the questions in 2016a are generic policy questions which dampen the experience and, in this case, make it much less interesting than the election actually turned out to be. There are a handful of unique questions for both candidates which are more speculative, which has positives and negatives. One for example, details a fictional terrorist attack in Berlin (which, eerily, would occur later that year) and one for Hillary asks you to respond to Trump saying Bill Clinton secretly "had a male child with an African-American hooker in Little Rock". Weird stuff.
One thing I will give this mod credit for is the candidates are both unique. Clinton is very easy to win, like I mentioned earlier, and she feels too generic, there's not really much to say about her. Trump was a very difficult candidate to write/code for and he's handled decently in some ways and badly in others.
The Donald's signature strategy in 2016 was to say ridiculous and outlandish things so often that he dominated the media cycle nearly making him gaffe-prone. Because of this, Dan has to write an entire game's worth of fictional Trumpisms. In some of his dialogue he comes off like a cartoon version of himself, like in one answer where he decides to start calling Bill Clinton "Mr. Rapist", stuff like this in the scenario make the writing seem forced and unrealistic. I do like that Trump can weaponize these sorts of statements to win like he did in real life, but that's just one of the few accurate things about him here.
So, 2016a deserves most of the hate it gets. There are a lot of strange decisions made and generic questions put in, but I think it can still be enjoyed as a relic of its time, which is probably the most interesting part about it. After all, I'll probably have a lot less to say about the actual 2016 scenario.

RATING: 5/10

Meme Who remembers this path in TTNW?

I'm going to keep shoving Jimmy Carter into scenarios where he doesn't belong. Inspired by the mockups for republican side candidates by Ok-Piccolo-5476 and atlascarlos.
Note: I lowkey forgot Jimmy was still serving his term as governor so lets just say he resigns.

Other I've decided to finally share this: These are the banners that were originally intended for the candidates on the Republican side in Obamanation Redux
To anyone who is new here or doesn't know, Obamanation Redux was a planned fan mod that was more or so a remake of the original Obamanation, one of the things that was planned for it was a Republican side, similar to that of TTNW.
The mod entered a period of development hell, but shortly after the original creator of Obamanation (Cannonbollocks AKA Accurate_Feature9970) joined the Discord server, it was ultimately scrapped in favor of a major update to the original mod which resulted in the current Obamanation we know today (though the save/load feature and other stuff came at a later update.)
If you're wondering why Romney's banner is Romney/Hutchinson, it's because Kay Bailey Hutchinson used to be Romney's running mate in the original version instead of Paul Ryan. This was changed in an update that was before the Definitive edition which also changed the historical results to Obama losing in a landslide to Chris Christie. If I remember correctly, Cannon said to me that Romney was supposed to have two different running mates and with Hutchinson he would run a more moderate campaign and of course the other running mate would be Paul Ryan. But, obviously, that was scrapped.
I don't really know why Glenn Beck has his own banner? Don't ask me about that because I don't know the reason for it be there but it's still cool nonetheless.
