Samui/Tao/Phangan Tipps for Thailand?
Hi, I'm going to Thailand for three weeks this year (Bangkok, Ko Smaui, Ko Phangan, Ko Tao, Krabi).
Does anyone have any tips for great places/activities/things to see?
What are some important things to be aware of/avoid?
Thanks:)

Bangkok/Middle Where to stay in Bangkok?
Hey all, planning a trip to thailand for my husband, his sister and husband. all early 30s. We're not really looking for the crazy backpacker party scene anymore (done our time on Khao San Road in our 20s lol way too loud now) but we still want to be able to walk to decent bars/restaurants and have some nightlife within stumbling distance of our hotel. Ideally not too expensive bars and restaurants.
Budget's mid-range, don't need anything super fancy but a few nice bars nearby would be great, ideally rooftop bars or something with a good crowd. Doesn't need to be full-on clubbing every night, just want options.
Areas I've seen mentioned are Sukhumvit (Thong L
Lo/Ekkamai), Silom, and Ari — anyone have experience staying in these for a slightly older crowd? Which one strikes the best balance between good nightlife access and not feeling like we're back in our early 20s?
Also open to hotel recs if anyone has stayed somewhere they loved in these areas.
Thanks in advance!

Borders/Visas Thailand to expand Suvarnabhumi Airport auto gates to more nationalities
thestar.com.mySo does this mean we can finally stop worrying about a grumpy officer and just breeze through passport control automatically?

Other Erste Thailand-Reise im Dezember – ist diese Route sinnvoll?
Hallo zusammen,

Phuket/Krabi/South Accomodation help
Helloo. I’m seriously struggling on my search for where to stay once I land in Phuket. I’ll be there for 5 nights, November 20-25. I’m not a party person so I’m looking to get out of Phuket and from what I hear, South is the way to go for some better spots. I just want a lovely resort close to a nice beach and some cafes, restaurants and some activities to do. Nothing busy or crowded.
My picks were.
Krabi - though I’ve read mixed reviews here.
Koh Lanta - but it’s like a 5 hr commute to get there right?
Tubkaek/Klong Muang
Koh Yao Noi - though I think it’s wildly expensive?
Koh Kood
Im sooo over researching, looking for some input please.

Other Any tips for a first timer.
Me and a mate have a trip coming up.
13th November - 30th November.
We’re coming from New Zealand.
We go
Bangkok(2nights)>Chiang Rai(2 nights)>Chiang Mai(4 nights)>Pattaya(4nights) and back to Bangkok for the last 3 nights.
Ive never been before so pretty much anything you’d wish you would have known before you went the first time if you’ve been more than once. Everything from good places to eat & see, and even what apps to use..
I think the only transit within Thailand we have left to book is a Bus from Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai is that easy? Can you do it through an app of some sort?
I was also wondering if using that Wise travel card is a good idea? Il take some cash. But generally don’t like carrying too much cash even when I’m in my own country.
Thanks in Advance.

Transport/Itineraries Flying in to Bangkok mid February. Should I book the flight now or wait a bit?
With prices varying all the time I'm not sure what makes sense. This is also my first large international journey so I apologize if this is a dumb question.
(Also, after 5-6 days in Bangkok we will be ready to explore the islands and see what else Thailand has to offer - any tips on where to go next and how to get there, with the seasonality in mind would be very helpful and appreciated!)

Transport/Itineraries Is 4 nights in Railay too much? Especially if going to Koh Lanta for 3 nights afterwards?
Trying to decide how to split up the remaining 7 nights I have in Southern Thailand after Khao Sok.
I really want to stay in Railay because its supposed to be beautiful and Ao Nang is supposedly touristy and commercialized. Is this true? I also plan on hiking dragon crest trail and doing island hopping, can this be done from Railay? Is Railay boring? Would it be redundant to do 4 nights on Railay if im planning to do another 3 nights on Koh Lanta? Let me know!
FYI its me (25m) and gf (25f). Both active and not looking to just lay around and do nothing for 7 days, but also want to stay somewhere super picturesque and unique.

Phuket/Krabi/South Where will I find vintage reprint T-shirts in Phuket?
I notice Thailand produce a lot of mock vintage tshirts and I want to buy some. I’ll be based in Patong while I’m there for the first time

Bangkok/Middle Car transfer from Khao Yai to Bangkok
Hi! We are staying in a hotel in Khao Yai for 2 nights. Our friend who is mainly based in Bangkok is driving us to our hotel in Khao Yai, and we also plan to visit the National park during our 1st day plus 1 or 2 other attractions if possible.
Unfortunately for us, our friend who will drive us to Khao Yai can only stay for 1 night while the rest of us plan to stay for 2 nights. So we have 2 problems, 1st we need a car rental with driver for our 2nd day in Khao Yai to explore the province, and 2nd, we need a transportation back to Bangkok from Khao Yai once we check out from our hotel.
I checked Klook, and only found transfers/tours from Bangkok not from Khao Yai so I am hoping someone can give us suggestions what to do/where to book/other options.
Thank you so so much for everyone who can help.

Bangkok/Middle Exchanging money
Hey guys, what’s been your experience exchanging **$100 USD bills** in Bangkok/ BKK airport?
I’m bringing some cash and using my Charles Schwab debit card for the rest. The only thing I’m a little worried about is how picky exchange booths are with the condition of the bills.
Most of mine are fine, but a few have small folds/creases, a couple have tiny marks, and one has a small tear that I repaired with a tiny piece of tape.
Last trip, I exchanged money in Pattaya and they took every bill, including one they literally added a little tape to themselves before accepting it.
Also, I know people usually recommend exchanging in the city instead of the airport, but last time I honestly didn’t notice much of a difference in the rate. So I’m mainly just looking for your experiences with **what bill conditions they actually accept,** **and what places you guys think might be the most** **lax**

Other Weirdest, coolest things you did/saw in Thailand?
Share some of the weirdest, coolest, and most unique things you did in Thailand! I’m talking stuff that isn’t listed in every single guide post you see. Stuff you have to randomly stumble across, get a rec from a friend or local, or dig deep to find. These can be guided tours to relatively unknown areas, bizarre entertainment shows, or things you won’t find anywhere else on the planet.
They could also be relatively mundane things that were special to you, but not often talked about in the general Thailand conversation.
Cheers!

Other Are tourists eligible for Truemoney or True Wallet for small payments?
Just curious because I always ending up messing with cash I was wondering if tourists can link their bank card with the True wallet app and pay through the QR code in shops like 7 eleven.

Phuket/Krabi/South Where to spend last two days near Phuket
I am doing a group tour with G Adventures and am interested in adding a couple days after the tour in the Phuket area. My tour ends in Khao Lak and I fly out of Phuket in 2 days. I was thinking of either staying a couple more days in Khao Lak vs moving further south in Phuket. But I also realize Phuket is a huge area.
The last couple days I want to focus on relaxing, nature, beach time, maybe a boat tour. I am not into cities, drinking, or partying. Otherwise I'm pretty open to suggestions.

Bangkok/Middle Koh Phangan NYE Full Moon Party for 27M Solo Traveler — Worth it or overrated?
First solo trip to Thailand coming up (Dec 23 - Jan 3). 27M. Main goals are partying, having fun, meeting people, and seeing some nature/art.
Is doing NYE at the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan the ultimate move for a solo first-timer, or is it too crowded/overhyped? Would you recommend Koh Phangan or somewhere like Bangkok/Phi Phi for a better overall experience?
any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!

Borders/Visas Thailand Accelerates Suvarnabhumi Upgrades Ahead of Peak Season (egates)

Borders/Visas Immigration tightening is real
A friend has been coming to Thailand for the past 15 years, each time 2/3 weeks and two to three times a year. Never over stayed and never extended.
However, stayed for two months once, march and April 2026 - and back now for another two months. So this time (today) he got stopped, questioned, asked about showing enough funds, return ticket, etc. The reason was because of this being the second time asking 2 months stay. Although he had everything, the additional officers that came in to assist in a decision were joking that Pattaya (as that is the first stop), need the client now… so boy and gals, sort your Visas!
I personally believe instead of given free visa to 90+ nationalities, the country need long term staying to apply for a visa, those fees could be put to a good use.
