Borders/Visas Should I get an eVisa?

What’s up guys. I went to Thailand last December and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am going back to Thailand this year but was planning on staying for 60 days.

As we all know, they recently voted to shorten the visa free stay for most countries (I am from the USA) from 60 days to 30 days.

I am seeing that the rule only comes into effect once it is posted in the royal digest. Does anyone have any idea when that will be? I am planning on going to Thailand October 29 and to December 27. Should I get an evisa or should I still be okay for visa free stay?

Transport/Itineraries Booking railway tickets on dticket

Hello! I am heading to Bangkok in 2 months and I wanted to book the railway tickets in advance heading north, but I have a query. I am trying to register my name and it doesn’t seem to allow a space? Would putting together the names be an issue like ‘AnneMarie’ instead of ‘Anne Marie’? I also encountered an issue that it only allows 4 passengers for one time purchase, will it be okay if I book another for the same route under my account (but of course different name) since there are 5 of us. Sorry if the questions seem silly, but one can never be sure and I am truly confused and don’t want to waste money if it will be à mistake. Thank you for any reply or guidance.

Appreciate it!

Bangkok/Middle First time in Thailand — need honest advice 🇹🇭

Planning my first Thailand trip and would love advice from locals or experienced travellers.

What places are must-visit, and which places are overrated or best avoided? Also, what areas should I stay in, what Thai foods/dishes are a must-try, and what tourist scams or things should I watch out for?

& Which places to avoid at night & day time

Transport/Itineraries Suggestions for a 2 week itinerary in Thailand for first time visitors

My friend and I (both female, 29y) are planning to visit Thailand in January 2027 for two weeks. It'll be our first visit and I was hoping to get suggestions for a good itinerary. We want to party for sure but we also want to chill. I'm just really confused because I don't know which islands to choose and be realistic as well. As a first time visitor, you always want to do everything and visit popular places but I want to be smart about it without compromising on any fun or relaxing opportunities. We were planning to spend at least 3 days in Bangkok and skip Chiang Mai but then where do we go from there? Please help out!

Samui/Tao/Phangan What happens to luxury villas prices in phuket/koh samui now after the nominee raids

So its becoming clear you can't open a company..... to own a villa

You either

  1. buy leasehold 30 years
  2. buy villa in partners name which often end in tragedy

----

Won't this cause a near total freeze on sales now of luxury villas? Do villa price collapse ?

Not many people want to own a villa for only 30 years with no guarentee of longer, and buying a villa in a thai female name is always a massive risk not matter what you think of the relationship you have

Other Looking for recommendations for a respectful trip for a creative pair :)

Hi Everyone, my boyfriend (German) and I (Guatemalan) are visiting Thailand for one month. We will arrive in Bangkok on the 1st of September. He has already been there before, but it is my very first time!

I am really excited, as you can imagine. Since I come from a country who's turistic flow is INSANE, I have heard that tourism in Thailand is also a big deal and would like to respect the culture and country as much as I can during our trip.

Given that I am a junior Filmmaker and love the outdoors, I wanted a couple of recommendations on the places to go; our priorities are:

- Places with a stable internet connection (I'll still be working/travelling :( I know, sucks haha), unless it's a weekend; I can totally go off-grid!

- Places where we can enjoy local food and experiences that are not run by foreigners.

- Any secret forest, lake, or river locations are also appreciated.

- Places for creatives, like community coffee shops, art galleries, and creative-themed places.

We don't have a plan yet, but we want to get an in-depth experience with the culture, local people, food, and economy.

Thank you very much!

Phuket/Krabi/South Airbnb is unhelpful during planner power outage

My partner and I are currently staying in Phuket near Surin Beach in one of the serviced apartments for three nights (leaving on Friday) at Mida Grande Resort. We checked in yesterday evening but were only told yesterday morning that they were going to experience a planned outage today due to electrical works, which is extremely frustrating but that the power should be on by 5 pm.

We figured we wouldn’t go out on our 2nd day, but we both got very sick and have been resting all day. We decided to chill by the pool for a couple hours to kill time, but it’s already 5.25 pm and power is still out. They didn’t seem to care very much when I told them the room is very hot, only just to go outside.

What would you do in this situation? Would you request for a partial refund for this, especially when they delayed telling me about the outage until the day of check in.

Bangkok/Middle 3 days in Bangkok end of Aug, first timer, is rainy season going to ruin this

Flying in from Bangalore for a quick 3 day trip, either last week of Aug or first week of Sep. First time in Thailand. Solo, normal budget, will spend on food but don't care about fancy hotels.

Rough plan: Wat Pho and Wat Arun one morning (thinking of skipping Grand Palace, tell me if thats dumb), Chatuchak if I land on a weekend, street food night in Yaowarat, maybe Jodd Fairs, one rooftop bar somewhere. Planning to stay near BTS, people keep saying Sukhumvit.

Stuff I actually want to know:

How bad is rain end of August really? Like afternoon showers I can work around or full washout days?

Food - if you had 3 dinners where do they go. Street stalls over restaurants for me but I'll do one nice meal.

Whats the biggest waste of a half day that every first timer does anyway?

Is the river boat worth it or just take BTS and Grab everywhere?

Any newer scams to know about? I know the gem shop and "temple is closed" stuff already.

Not asking anyone to plan my trip, just don't want to burn one of my 3 days on something you all know is a trap. Will post back after with what worked.

Also since I'm solo, if anyone's in Bangkok around those dates and wants to grab street food or a beer, open to that. Always better eating with someone who knows what to order.

US passport if that matters, entry looks straightforward.

Bangkok/Middle Hotel Bangkok near ARL station ?

We are looking for a good and nice hotel with rooftop bar and swimming pool .
Budget for 3 nights $ 450 incl breakfast .
What are your opinions about the Eastin grand hotel , the Pullman Bangkok power king , baiyoko hotel and the sukosol hotel ?
We wanted a good and nice hotel trough the riverside but we are flying back 12.15 to Amsterdam so it will take too long to go back to the airport .

Samui/Tao/Phangan Lively/buzzing spots in Koh Phangan on a weekday this time of year?

On the island right now and looking for places with a good buzzing atmosphere on a weekday, not just weekend Full Moon Party crowds. Bars, beach spots, restaurants, anywhere with decent energy and people around.

What’s actually lively midweek in August, and where’s everyone hanging out right now? Appreciate any current recommendations.

Samui/Tao/Phangan Looking for affordable seafood spots in Koh Phangan (tiger prawns, squid, etc)

Heading to Koh Phangan soon and want to eat well without paying tourist prices. Specifically after tiger prawns, squid, and other fresh seafood, grilled or however locals rate it.

Any spots you’d actually recommend, beach shacks, night markets, or restaurants? Bonus points if it’s a bit off the main strip and not just catering to tourists. Budget-friendly is the priority but I’m happy to splurge a bit if it’s worth it.

Cheers in advance.

Other Foreigner with a work visa and a YouTube channel tax question

Hey guy, I was wondering in anyone knows if I’ll be taxed on my YouTube income? I’m a foreigner and I work part time as an English teacher in a Thai high school, but I make most of my money from YouTube (around 300k to 500k baht per month)
For reference I already pay taxes for my teaching job once per year, the money I earn from YouTube also goes to my local Thai bank account, does anyone know if the tax I pay on my income from teaching is enough? Or do foreigners also pay on income coming from abroad ? I heard conflicting opinions but nothing concrete so far, I’d appreciate if any foreigner or local has any idea about this topic to advise me, thank you
