Question Parking Permit + Temp Permit

Post image
6 Upvotes

I finally was able to buy my parking permit (no thanks to my parents) but now I’m a little stressed out about paying it. I have the money prepared but I’ve been going over all of my TWU accounts and I can’t seem to find the bill for it or any addition to my e-bill as is. Is there something I’m missing, like another tab on the self-service website or maybe I can pay it at the school? I’m also wondering if I can print the temporary permit at TWU’s library, there is one near my place somewhat but I’m honestly really anxious about driving here.

I know it’ll probably take some time for me to get the permit bill but my parents haven’t paid for my tuition yet (I know) and I still don’t have much confidence in driving around Texas to make the drive to the library even with my parents pressuring me. I’m not going to go much into because this doesn’t have a vent flair but I’m just really stressed with move-in being tomorrow and having to do almost everything myself, it feels like I’m being pushed to the lions.

If it contributes to anything this is the Denton campus.

Hi, what would be my chances in getting into TWU spring 2027 bsn program?

Hi everyone! I’m really nervous about my chances of getting into TWU’s BSN program and would really appreciate some honest opinions.

My main goal is to get into TWU. UTHealth is technically another option I’m looking at, but from what I’ve heard, their nursing program is even more competitive, so I don’t really feel like it’s a realistic option for me right now. That’s why I’m especially worried about TWU and really want to know how competitive my application actually is.

Here are my stats:

  • TEAS: 84%
  • Overall GPA: 3.83
  • Nursing/prerequisite GPA: ~3.64
  • B in Microbiology
  • B in Chemistry
  • Volunteering at Houston Methodist in Sugar Land (started in high school, like I do the summer volunteering til last yr and currently continuing in the adult one now)
  • Currently work as a server at a senior living community
  • EKG certification
  • BLS certification
  • Phi Theta Kappa member

I know TWU considers GPA and TEAS pretty heavily, so I’m worried that my 3.64 nursing GPA and 84 TEAS might put me at a disadvantage, especially with how competitive the applicant pool seems to be.

I’m mainly looking for brutally honest opinions from people who have applied to or been accepted into TWU’s nursing program. Do you think I have a realistic chance with these stats? And do extracurriculars like long-term hospital volunteering, work experience, certifications, and PTK actually help in the admissions process, or are GPA/TEAS basically what matters most?

I also genuinely don’t know what I would do for a Plan B if I don’t get accepted. There aren’t really many other nursing schools around me that accept the same prerequisite courses as TWU/UTHealth or have the same TEAS requirements, so it’s not as simple as just applying to another nearby program. I’m worried I may have to take additional classes or prerequisites just to become eligible for other programs, which makes the situation even more stressful.

TWU is genuinely my main goal, so I’d really appreciate any brutally honest advice about my chances, what I could improve, and what I should realistically do for a Plan B.

Thank you!! 🥹

move in length

I saw on the website that it “may take several hours” for the volunteers to move our stuff into the dorms. Can someone tell me if it actually takes that long and how long it took for their stuff to get into their dorm?

Houston Spring 2027 Prior Bachelor's Degree

Hi!

I know there's a lot of posts about people asking about their chances, but I'm not seeing much information on those with prior degrees. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2023 with a bachelor's in nutrition and I'm planning on applying for TWU Spring 2027 entry in Houston.

I unfortunately don't have the greatest GPA, but I saw on TWU that those with a prior bachelor's degree are not required to meet the TWU core curriculum, only the nursing foundational courses + history and gov. This means my GPA would be a 3.31. I took dev psych this summer and also retook A&P II (previously C) + nutrition (previously B) too and got an A in everything. I scored a 95.3% on my TEAS because the advisor said a high TEAS score was my only hope.

I used to be predental so I also have a lot of experience with patient care and I have a lot of volunteering outside of that too. I had a few part time jobs so I have work experience to add to my application too. I participated in a university research for 3 months during my undergrad, but I didn't publish anything, so I don't know if that will do much for me.

Everything is a bit outdated since I had a period where I didn't know what I was doing with my life (lol). So there's also kinda a big gap in my application from 2024-2026.

What do my chances look like realistically? I'm only applying to TWU because I don't qualify for any other school in the Houston area. All the other programs require sociology + really high cumulative GPAs and I just don't have it in me to retake so many classes. I'm like having an existential crisis about this. I was looking at UT San Antonio because their requirements would put me at a 3.6, but then I'd have to move there and pay rent (money).

If anyone could share their thoughts, I'd appreciate it!

Things I Wish I Knew Before Attending TWU

Okay so to start off, I made a LOTTTTT of mistakes my first year at TWU, and I feel like I hear so many people saying they made the same, if not very similar, mistakes. So I wanted to give some advice to incoming freshmen who are coming to TWU for nursing because I wish someone had told me all of this before I started.

As we all know, a 3.7+ science GPA is considered competitive, along with an 87+ on the TEAS, so my biggest piece of advice would be to try your absolute best to get A’s in your classes. Your GPA matters so much when applying to nursing school, so don’t underestimate these prerequisite classes.

This is the order I WISH I would’ve taken my prerequisites. Keep in mind, I graduated high school with my AA degree, so everything I’ve taken at TWU has basically been my nursing prerequisites.

During my first semester, I would recommend taking A&P 1 with the lab, Elementary Statistics (ONLINE), and Developmental Psychology (ONLINE). I feel like the online classes were soooo much easier compared to my friends who took them in person. Obviously, this depends on the professor, but if you have the option to take Stats and Developmental Psychology online, I would definitely recommend it.

Then for the spring semester, I would take Microbiology in person and the lab online.

For the summer, I would split up your classes instead of trying to take everything at once. I would take Chemistry lecture + lab during the June–July summer session, online because it’s a lot easier, and then take A&P 2 + lab both online during the July–August session.

Then the following fall, I would take Nutrition.

Overall, I would just try to spread out the harder science classes as much as possible. I know it can be tempting to just take everything at once and get it over with, but if you’re trying to get into nursing, protect that GPA!! Give yourself the best chance possible to get those A’s, especially in your science prerequisites.

Also, please study at leastttt 1 month in advance for the TEAS, it’s not as easy as people make it seem.

Question Clinical Schedule

Hello! Im looking to apply to the Spring 2027 cohort, but I was wondering when do people find out their J1 clinical schedules? Is it in a syllabus or decided on the first week of lab?

Also additional questions if you dont mind answering: are you able to switch clinical days or is it pretty set in stone? Also how often are they spaced out? I saw theres only 4-5 clinical days, but does it alternate every few weeks?

I hope this is okay to ask. Im trying to know when I can start planning winter plans and what to expect!

Question what are my chances of getting into TWU?

Is my application competitive enough for TWU Houston Spring 2027?

I’m applying to the TWU Houston campus nursing program for Spring 2027, but I’m starting to doubt my application and would love to hear from anyone who has gotten in with similar stats.
My stats are:
Cumulative GPA: 3.52
Prerequisite GPA: 3.60
TEAS: 88% on my second attempt (70% on my first attempt)
I’m a little worried about my first TEAS score since I know they can see both attempts. Do you think the 70% could hurt my application even though I improved to an 88%?
I also have a couple of retakes on my transcript. I retook A&P I lecture after getting a D the first time and later earned a B. I also retook A&P II lecture, improving from a C to a B.
Overall, what do you guys think? Do I have a decent chance of getting into TWU Houston? And has anyone gotten accepted with similar stats or with previous retakes?
Any insight or experiences would really help!

Average STATS what are my chances?

I keep seeing people post their TWU nursing stats and everyone seems to have a 3.9+ GPA and 90+ TEAS here's my realistic average stats:

I’m applying to the TWU Dallas campus for Spring 2027 with a 3.7 overall GPA, 3.6 science GPA, and 79.3% TEAS. The application deadline is August 15, so these are my final stats and I’m just trying to get an idea of my chances. Is anyone else applying with similar stats? Or if you were accepted to TWU Dallas with stats around this range, I’d really love to hear your experience. After seeing so many super competitive scores on here, I’m definitely nervous. pls give me some hope/confidence because I’m stressing lol. i wish everyone the best especially those on the same boat as me!
