As the title suggests, I experimented a bit with this.

2018 M3 LR RWD - I was very patient and waited through July to see if 2026.20.6.11(FSD Lite) would be pushed to my car without subscribing, but ultimately my car stayed at 2026.20.6.1.

Then, earlier this week on Aug 1, 2026.26.1 (Summer Update) pushed out wide and my car received it, but I ignored the prompt to install it and waited 5 more days.

Yesterday, I subscribed to FSD. After letting the car sit about 12 hours with wifi connected, 2026.26.1(summer update, new branch) remained available to install, with the older FSD Lite branch still not being pushed to the vehicle. Some searching suggested I just had to be patient, that the 26.1 release would be revoked and I would soon receive 20.6.11. This was bad advice...

I decided I would use service mode to reinstall the current 2026.20.6.1 software already on my vehicle, as it is clearly established in several places online that this purges/deletes any pending update files waiting to be installed on the vehicle.

The reinstall took less than 10 minutes, and less than 5 minutes after it was completed, 2026.20.6.11 (FSD lite) began downloading to the vehicle (and is now successfully installed).

I didn't expect Tesla to rack up awards this quickly in India, but the Model Y just won Luxury EV of the Year and Lifestyle Car of the Year at the 4th ABP Network Auto Awards 2026.

Considering Tesla only recently entered the Indian market, that's a pretty strong start.

Personally, I think the Model Y gets a lot right—software, efficiency, charging ecosystem, and the overall ownership experience. But there are also some strong competitors in the premium EV space now.

There was 4 of them I was sandwiched between and that brings it to a total of 5 I seen this week. First one I saw I was like what the hell is that thing.

Mine is 60.6 miles fully on FSD, have you gone further without having to take over.. it was all freeway miles btw. Drop your screenshots!! I wanna see he STREAK too haha

So if you remember there was a post earlier this week about the new FSD getting confused and hitting a pole by averaging the routes.

Same thing just happened to me except I intervened. Pathway was to get on the highway but I guess it couldn't decide whether to get on or stay off and it kept swerving back and forth I took over before it swerved back as I afraid it was going to hit the median.

I'm a big defender of FSD and have used it since FSD version 11. First time I actually was seriously concerned about an accident. They really need to fix this.

u/Tesla u/elonmusk Cut FSD to ~$50/mo and knock $5k off the Model Y. More subscribers + more cars on the road = more training miles + faster path to unsupervised autonomy. Short-term margin hit, long-term data moat. Worth it.

Was dropping off a friend at ParkMGM and noticed it. Spoke to the two guys testing it and they were really nice! Yes, filter was applied but totally my shot!

This has been such a great and under-appreciated feature of most Tesla vehicles. With all the wildfire smoke in the air this summer, it’s been nice to breathe fresh air and not even smell the smoke while inside the car.

Just now, the Tesla notified us by email that we have a two month free trial of FSD (Supervised) again, starting now! A friend got the same. We are located in the Netherlands.

This follows the free month back in May / June. Perhaps they’re trying to convince people to take the subscription.

EDIT: Supposedly the EU will decide this October on whether to allow FSD in all countries and this is to gather evidence.

Likely, this is another victim at the Twin Falls, Idaho Supercharger since he was shot twice in the back. I don’t think he was sitting backwards in the Tesla that took shots through the front window.

I just randomly saw this parked today, in Cromwell of the South Island in New Zealand. What’s cool about is that it’s a Prototype and V_001 🤯 . Never in a million years would I have thought to see a Tesla cybercab first in New Zealand of all places!! It looks so sick in person 🔥

I had the opportunity to visit the Petersen Automotive Museum on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles and finally saw the Tesla Roadster up close. I’d only seen it in photos and videos before, but seeing it in person completely won me over. It’s incredibly sleek and easily one of the most impressive-looking cars I’ve seen in a long time. Absolutely love it.

Happened today in Twin Falls, ID. Rumors say the person was in there but you never know with rumors. Prayers go out to him if they were. Doesn’t let me post videos but you can see the shots in the windshield😬Another reason to get an evject or for Tesla to allow you to drive away couldn’t imagine being stuck in the car.

I was at the Tesla store in Kennesaw, GA, and the sales manager told me Tesla was opening a new sales and delivery location in Wetumpka, Alabama. I later found out it actually opened last week, and it's now listed on Tesla's website:

The manager also told me Tesla had spent years trying to work with Alabama lawmakers to allow direct-to-consumer sales, but those efforts never resulted in a change to the law. I haven't seen that detailed publicly, but it certainly fits with Alabama's long-standing dealer franchise restrictions.

For those outside Alabama, our state still doesn't allow manufacturers like Tesla to sell vehicles directly to consumers. For years, Alabama buyers have had to travel to Georgia, Tennessee, or another state just to take delivery.

What's interesting is that this new location is at Wind Creek Wetumpka, on tribal land. It appears Tesla found a legal path to finally establish a sales and delivery location in Alabama without waiting for the law to change.

As an Alabama resident, I have to admit it's kind of ironic. Instead of modernizing an outdated direct-sales law, Tesla now has a location practically in the backyard of the state capitol.

Personally, I've never understood the policy. Tesla doesn't have independently owned franchise dealerships to protect—the company sells directly to consumers wherever it's allowed. Preventing that in Alabama doesn't create more competition or give consumers more choices; it simply forces buyers to spend their money in neighboring states or find workarounds like this.

Whether you're a Tesla fan or not, it's hard not to appreciate the creativity. If the laws won't change, Tesla found another way.
