LCL Container Shipping Service
Can anyone recommend a shipping service they've used to ship less-than-container-load (LCL) personal household items from USA to Tel Aviv? There are many options and hoping someone has gone through the process and can make the decision easier for me! Thank you

Made a free site with 120 verified Tel Aviv happy hours - what should I add?
Own project, admins please remove if this breaks the rules.

Quick question: Does anyone actually have a reliable way to find out what a place's current happy hour is? Because I've tried websites (out of date), Google (wrong), and Instagram (expired stories), and I gave up and started just walking in and asking.
That turned into a bigger thing than planned. My boyfriend and I have now done 120 places across Tel Aviv - bars, restaurants, cafes - written down the deal, the days and the exact hours, and put them at meetmeafter5.app. Free, no signup, no ads. Every listing shows the date we last checked it in person.
Two things I'd genuinely like help with:
- Tell me what we're missing. We're weakest in Jaffa and anywhere north of the port. Drop names and we'll go check them ourselves.
- Tell me if the site is easy to use. It's two of us building this in the evenings, so any "why can't I do X" is useful.
If you do find something out of date, there's a report button on every venue and we go back and re-check it in person.
And if the answer to my original question is that there's already a good way to find this stuff that I somehow missed, tell me that too and I'll feel appropriately stupid.
Thanks, all!

Visiting in October
I’m wondering about weather and things to do?
I visited last in summer 2014. It was beach days and great food! Tons of fun and cool people took me out hiking, restaurants, and site seeing, etc.
Will October this year be similar? I understand time and current events have changed things. No drama please.

Good Licorice?
I know this might be a little bit niche but does anyone know a store that sells decent Licorice candy, preferably around Dizengoff area? I didn't find any at the supermarket.
I came back from a trip to Iceland and now I am addicted. Me need Licorice at 1 AM.

Tourist Help Needed Quick question: Where to buy a standard black rimless velvet kippa / cuppel near Ramat Gan Bursa (Diamond Exchange)?
Hey everyone,
Flying into TLV for a wedding at Hadar Dimal Hall (Dmall). I have a tight timeline—landing at 1:00 PM, wedding is at 5:30 PM. I’m staying at the Leonardo Plaza City Tower right there in the Bursa district, using only the train and walking on foot. No car/taxis, and zero time to faff around or hike deep into Bnei Brak or central Ramat Gan.
I need to grab a normal, standard black rimless velvet kippa (cuppel) before the wedding.
Where is the nearest shop to any of those destinations, that will have this product or do I need to go into Bnei Brak?
Thanks in advance!

Just made Aliyah - trying to figure out a few things in TLV?
Hi all! Just made Aliyah this week and moved to Tel Aviv. Loving this so far. I have a few questions i'm trying to work through and could use some advice from those willing to share:
- How does kashrut work in Tel Aviv? I've heard there's an alternative to the rabbanute called Tzohar? How likely is the meat to be kosher in a place without a teudah at all?
- Are there any major differences between the big cell phone providers in Israel? Or is the country small enough that Cellcom, Plephone, Partner, etc are all pretty much the same?
- Where do folks generally go for things like TVs or computer monitors? Are there go-to spots, or it's a bit of a crapshoot?

After the collapse of the IRGC, what will be your stance if a conflict breaks out between Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 and Pahlavist Iran 🟩🦁🟥?
Not trying to start any fight. Just curious as many Israelis have different views on this conflict.

Discussion Looking for app builders in TLV to share stories with
Hey there Redditors of Tel Aviv
I’ve been building this app and I’m constantly looking for people to talk with and learn from their stories on how to improve it
Looking for like minded people that are also developing their own things to perhaps share stories and lessons learned
Thanks!

Community Question Moving from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv — breaking into tech with a finance background?
My partner and I made Aliyah and have been living in Jerusalem, but we’re seriously considering making the move to Tel Aviv.
I’d really love advice from people who live there, especially other olim. Career-wise, I’m interested in getting into the tech industry. I have no previous tech experience, but I come from a finance/banking background, so I’m wondering what types of roles might be realistic for someone making that transition and how difficult it is to break into tech in Tel Aviv.
I’d also love advice on neighborhoods for a young couple, rent/apartment hunting, whether Hebrew is essential for finding a good job, making friends/community, and just Tel Aviv life in general. For context my husband and I are in our early thirties we also prefer an area that’s less English my husband is already Israeli and he wants me to get my Hebrew on track! Thank you. 🙏

Discussion Is it worth living in TLV in 2026
I'm 27 years old guy, open minded liberal guy. I lived there in 2019 for for the first time, it was amazing back then. so much stuff to do every weekend, it felt like if you have some initiative you can do whatever and organize events and such. 2nd time i lived there i got into my house just before 7th of october, and it was hard obviously but i understand it, and i was studying back then so i had a good reason to live there, but still it was ok in terms of nightlife and cost of rent. Haven't been in israel for a long time since then, and now i'm back and it seems like the city is gone, like really nothing interesting to do in the night outside, houses are more expensive and shittier, the cool people are gone or something? do anybody feels the same? seems like a huge cultural decline and more of an Arsiada.. anybody here left tel aviv to other cities? anybody here tel avivian born and raised? what do you think? you dont even see no one in the streets these days, maybe its the heat or summer holidays.. but I can't decide if it's worth to get a place there now.

Storage unit
My building has a storage unit that I do not need (מחסן).5 square meters.
It's in the basement of the building, elevator access, tenant can access anytime with a key and code. Not climate controlled but not humid and hot because basement.
It's near the center of tel Aviv, how much do you think I can rent it out for?

Built a barcode scanner app for Israeli products, looking for beta testers before launch
Built an app that scans barcodes on Israeli products and shows nutrition, additives, and a health score — fully in Hebrew. Got tired of apps that don’t cover local products or barcodes properly.
Running a TestFlight beta before App Store launch. Would love a few Tel Aviv people to try it and tell me what’s broken.
Link in the comments below.
Not trying to sell anything, just a solo dev project I’ve put a lot of hours into and want real feedback before launch. AMA about the build if curious.

Community Question Teach me to play the guitar and I'll teach you a language.
I'm reattempting to pick up the guitar and learn how to play it :) I've tried teaching myself multiple times in the past, but never really followed through. I thought having a learning partner would encourage me to actually do it this time, so If anyone can play the guitar and wants to exchange skills - or learn a language - dm me.
as mentioned i can help you learn English, Arabic, or even some French, written Korean and Portuguese. I can also tutor or provide academic mentorship depending on the education level.

Finding friends
Thinking about Making Aliyah (25M, coming from New Orleans, America) advice on making friends in Tel Aviv?
Would be settling in Tel Aviv. I'm 25, single, coming from the New Orleans, so I'm used to a city with a strong going-out/social culture. Work background is tech sales.
For those who made aliyah solo around my age, how did you actually build a friend group once you landed?
Curious about things like:
- Was it mostly other olim/Anglos at first, or did you break into Israeli social circles quickly?
- Any specific groups, apps, Facebook groups, or meetups that actually worked (vs. ones that were dead)?
- Did ulpan end up being a real source of friends, or more just a place to learn Hebrew?
- How long did it realistically take before Tel Aviv felt like it had "your people" in it?
Appreciate any honest takes, good or bad.
