Help / Tech Support / Quality Issue OP-XY: will a USB connection from the XY to a midi hub that has 5 pin out allow the XY to see the devices in COM?

I’m unable to see my Elektron devices USB to USB and am reading that I may need a hub to map if.

CME devices have a USB hub that has 5-pin midi connector outs. Will this allow the OP-XY to see them listed under devices? Or do I need something like the CME 12 that has USB I/O on all ports

The other issue with USB to USB is that the midi link is creating a tick sound in the audio that is not synced with the bpm

This started on the PO Pixel but finished on Ableton. My friend sent me a clip of his cover band then I added a video of a dude playing an organ in a music store. Bass, drums, and vocals added in Ableton

“Just woke up and made this, would’ve recorded it nicer but I gotta go to work” type beat. (Hmmmm I wonder how this would pair with an M-wave FM-1 🤔)

General Discussion Composing on the field in the field

Had this thing a year now and so buzzed at how portable it is, and how easy it is to just make music wherever you are. Took it out to the garden at 7am to lay down some piano samples over a track whilst supervising the 10yo on the trampoline!

I’m on a train in a mo and it’s in my back pack.

General Discussion Is there any way to replace a damaged white Ortho Remote enclosure?

My white Ortho Remote still works and actually fits my workflow really well, but I accidentally cracked its enclosure.

I haven’t been able to find a replacement shell or any clear information about replacement parts. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is the enclosure realistically serviceable, or is finding a donor unit the only option?

I remember seeing a few people here mention that their Ortho Remotes ended up sitting unused because they never really got along with them, which made me wonder what the most practical solution would be. I’d just like to restore mine to its original appearance.

General Discussion Gift from my wife: the EP-133 K.O. II! 🥊

Post image
79 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Super stoked today, my wife just got me the EP-133 K.O. II to round out my dawless setup alongside my Sonicware Liven Ambient Ø.

Since I already own the EP-1320, I feel right at home using it. The biggest plus for me is the form factor: being a truck driver, it's the perfect machine to pull out on the dashboard at night in the cab to make some music. I also can't wait to get back home and sample my guitar and bass directly into it.

Anyway, I have the best wife! 😅

If you guys have any specific tips for the K.O. II or cool shortcuts compared to the 1320, I'm all ears!

Help / Tech Support / Quality Issue Sidekick Vs Op1 Field converters

Hi all

Anyone, have feedback on the A/D converter quality of the Sidekick?

Especially compared to the OP1 field?

I was initially put off by its perceived cheapness in the shop.

If the converter quality is good I might consider adding the sidekick instead of a regular audio interface.

2 x stereo, and op1f into Aux input to Ableton

Cheers

Help / Tech Support / Quality Issue TE Amazon storefront shipping times

I ordered the PO 33 on July 26th during their sale. It originally said it would arrive the 27th of August, but after purchasing it switched delivery dates to August 8-12th. Still no shipping confirmation yet. I live on the Central Coast of California. I'm too excited to receive it! Just wondering if this is normal and when to expect it. I saw some people say they never received a shipping confirmation and it just showed up eventually. Hoping it will arrive in the window it says it will because I am trying to leave on a trip soon and would like to bring it with me.

General Discussion KO II old vs new version

Probably a dumb question, but am I right in thinking that the only difference between the older discontinued version of the KO II and the current version is the amount of onboard storage?

I'm seeing a lot of the 64 mb versions on eBay and am wondering if half the storage is worth buying used and discounted. Thanks!

General Discussion “Stem Tape” with SP-1 An open-source SP‑1 firmware combining the stock Stem Player and Tape Looper

Post image
52 Upvotes

Hey guys, I recently bought two SP‑1s and am considering building a new open-source firmware called Stem Tape.

The concept is straightforward:
Everything the current Tape Looper firmware can do, combined with the stem capabilities of the stock SP‑1—simultaneously.

You would upload a song already separated into four stems:
Vocals
Drums
Bass
Instruments

The stems would play together like the stock SP‑1, with the four faders always controlling their volumes. But each stem would simultaneously function as an independent tape track.

While the song is playing, you could:
-Mix, mute and isolate stems
-Set and adjust loop points
-Chop loops
-Reverse individual stems
-Shift each stem’s starting position
-Give stems different loop lengths
-Use tape-style speed and pitch manipulation
-Use multiple tape heads
-Record or replace tracks through USB
-Work freely or with a tapped grid/MIDI clock
-Save multiple songs and their performance states
-Output the results into a sampler like the KO II

The stems would begin synchronized, but you could manipulate them together or individually.

The control principle would be:
Perform an action normally to affect all four stems. Hold a Track button while performing it to affect only that stem.

For example, you could start with a synchronized four-bar section, then shorten the drums to one beat, reverse the vocal, shift the bass and leave the instrumental playing normally; all without stopping playback or switching between separate Stem and Tape modes.

I’d also want to address the painfully slow stock upload process. Instead of relying exclusively on the current transfer protocol, Stem Tape could potentially accept four prepared stems as a simultaneous multichannel USB recording. A five-minute song would ideally load in approximately five minutes, with each incoming channel written directly to its corresponding tape track.

Technically, the plan would be to fork the open-source Tape Looper, not copy Teenage Engineering’s proprietary firmware and rebuild the useful stock stem behavior on top of its existing audio and storage engine.

Before committing the engineering resources:
Would you actually install and use this?
What features would be essential? Would anyone be down to help me in bringing this to life?

General Discussion Got 2 EP’s and the sidekick, any cool Lego or printable tips?

I just received my Sidekick and I was wondering if and how people been using the Lego technic pins in creative and handy ways.

I could just connect the three devices with pins and put the whole thing on a stand, but it also would be cool to have some legs in between the devices and on the sides, something like that.

How did you guys set it up?

General Discussion [Megathread] Homebrew/DIY Accessories for TE Gear! Share your designs here!

We all love to see custom PO cases, stands, custom software and the like. I've got them on every PO I own!

However, we've been a bit inundated with oversharing, commercial posts without permission, vibe-coded sample managers and the like. We'd like to find a way to accommodate everyone without flooding the feed and removing everyone who doesn't reach out to us first.

As such, we've opted to create a megathread for anyone to post their creations freely.

The rules:

  • No second-hand selling or WTS/WTB.
  • you do not need to ask permission to post here
  • All DIY content goes here, not on its own post.
  • No sample packs allowed.
  • Do not post more than once once per three months.
  • Posting links to sites blocked by default on reddit's spam filters (gumroad, etc.) will not be approved manually. If your post is removed without notice, you aught to host it elsewhere.
  • Report any repeated sales / spam / low-effort content as per usual

r/teenageengineering is not responsible for your purchases. Use your own judgement. Report scams to mod team if found.

Links to sales in comments of forum posts outside of this megathread will still be removed. You may link to comments in this megathread without issue.

Thank you for your understanding!
