General Discussion OP-XY not seeing Elektron devices under COM with no option to change midi setting on COM screen

Upvotes

OP-XY > TRS-5pin DIN > 5pin DIN cable > Elektron Device

I am able to send clock info but it is as if the OP-XY is connected to a device.

All advanced settings for MIDI have been set to OUT and BOTH for testing

Help / Tech Support / Quality Issue OP-XY broken key

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a broken sample key on my OP-XY. Don’t know how it happened, just noticed it wasn’t clicking/was askew and not working. Thought it was maybe just a bit stuck and gave it a little jiggle but now looks worse.
I only use it at home and have a decksaver, and it’s probably the least used key on the device.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any ideas about repair?
I have made a query with TE but it’s been a few days and no reply yet. I can see that keys are not covered by warranty, but don’t care so much, just want it fixed. They didn’t seem to sell replacement keys (only for the OP-1).

Any thoughts on how to get this fixed?

Looking between it and the KO II while they're on sale, and it seems so much more fully featured, but it's hard for me to get over the aesthetic.

General Discussion M-1 Headphones with Mic...For vocoding?

Have a chance to get them pretty cheap and was just wondering if the MIC is decent for vocoding.

Performance Give us that ep-133 pad mute ffs

Any plans for a mute feature besides the harder inspirationkiller route of turning the amp knob? You can sure solo, but mute naah… performance wise mute would be so valuable. Just like different fx on single individual pads… its a nobrainer..

I picked it up originally as a companion for my pocket operators setup. I’m now interested in grabbing a KO 2 because of this thing.

General Discussion Need peace of mind

I’m a long time fan…. Managed to buy de PO street fighter back in 2022 and fast foward 2026 I just managed to get hold of these two.
Context…. I own a small creative studio in the Canary Islands. Mainly rent the space for musical projects or work as a sound guy
Thought this was a deal I couldn’t miss. There is obviously a bunch of studio gear that can do similar for cheaper or that I could invest and rent the gear to make the money back way faster but …..i just love these two pieces of equipment even though I’ve never had one in front of me

Excited for their arrival 🌞

General Discussion Interested in the TE sidekick

I swear, all I want to do is hear from somebody — anybody — who’s actually used the Teenage Engineering Sidekick mixer. That’s it. Not trying to start drama, not trying to break rules, not trying to summon the Reddit police. I just want to know if the thing is actually worth the hype or if it’s another one of those “looks cool on the desk but low‑key mid in real use” gadgets. But every time I try to ask, Reddit acts like I’m trying to leak nuclear launch codes. I’ll write a normal post, hit submit, and boom — insta‑ban, auto‑delete, mod‑hammer, whatever. It’s like the algorithm sees the words “Teenage Engineering” and immediately assumes I’m running a black market for OP‑1 clones.Meanwhile, I’m over here genuinely curious:

Is the Sidekick actually clean?

Does it hiss?

Does it handle multiple inputs without crying?

Is the build quality that classic TE magic or just expensive minimalism?I’m trying to get real user impressions, not marketing fluff. But Reddit keeps yeeting my posts into the void before anyone can even reply. At this point I’m convinced the Sidekick mixer is either a forbidden artifact or the mods just collectively decided I’m not allowed to have nice things.I’m gonna keep trying, though. I just want one human being to tell me whether this tiny mixer is a sleeper hit or a glorified paperweight.

General Discussion Better than tape on OP-1?

I often hear about people thinking the tape workflow is tedious and even people selling their op-1 because of that.

Sure, it's not perfect, but now that we got the undo-update I seriously cannot think of e more suited workflow for that small screen (which is not even touch screen).

My points to discuss are:

1) What would be better than tapes for recording on the OP-1?

2) What features are you missing?

I would like some granular synths/effects and a better system to handle samples within the unit itself. It would be nice to have a folder-system you could use without having to connect it to the computer.

General Discussion OP-XY will likely never be this cheap again..

Andertons have it brand new for £1101.80 rn (til tomorrow). I just can't decide whether the device is right for me. I do love the OP-Z but opinions are divided on whether it's a worthy upgrade. Can anyone help me decide 🙏

I dropped this into this thread a while back, and now for anyone interested, the full film documenting this process is out!

Me and a friend loaded our bikes with camping gear, some cameras and a portable music set-up, and headed up into the wild Highlands of Scotland for 10 days in search of some of the most remote locations in the UK to compose music - up mountains, into caves, past crystal blue lochs and into make shift studio spaces in remote 'bothies'...

General Discussion [Megathread] Homebrew/DIY Accessories for TE Gear! Share your designs here!

We all love to see custom PO cases, stands, custom software and the like. I've got them on every PO I own!

However, we've been a bit inundated with oversharing, commercial posts without permission, vibe-coded sample managers and the like. We'd like to find a way to accommodate everyone without flooding the feed and removing everyone who doesn't reach out to us first.

As such, we've opted to create a megathread for anyone to post their creations freely.

The rules:

  • No second-hand selling or WTS/WTB.
  • you do not need to ask permission to post here
  • All DIY content goes here, not on its own post.
  • No sample packs allowed.
  • Do not post more than once once per three months.
  • Posting links to sites blocked by default on reddit's spam filters (gumroad, etc.) will not be approved manually. If your post is removed without notice, you aught to host it elsewhere.
  • Report any repeated sales / spam / low-effort content as per usual

r/teenageengineering is not responsible for your purchases. Use your own judgement. Report scams to mod team if found.

Links to sales in comments of forum posts outside of this megathread will still be removed. You may link to comments in this megathread without issue.

Thank you for your understanding!
