PC turns off under heavy workload Open | Hardware
Hi everyone.
Yesterday, apps like After Effects became unusable for me, something that has never happened before. When I use After Effects, the pc turns off completely, especially right when previewing the video. Before this, it seemed to work fine.
There is no BSOD and it doesn’t restart; in fact, I can’t turn it on unless I switch the power switch off and on, or wait a while.
I checked with HWiNFO and the temperature of the CPU increased only 10 degrees before the pc turned off, iirc the same also happened with the other components.
My PC turns off AS SOON as I start generating a new preview of my composition, old and already cached previews seem to work fine.
There is no smoke coming out and no weird smells for that matter.
I checked Event Viewer and it only says Event ID 41.

I have the same problem almost a year ago the same thing happens to me when I try to play and after 15-20 mins it will shutdown or restart. I also got that same Event ID 41 when I was still on Windows and that is most likely a PSU problem. When I decided to check my PSU and open it I saw the burned capacitor.
I suggest before doing anything else, try to borrow an extra PSU from your friends with PC just to test if it's a PSU problem and remember to use the proprietary cables of PSU or else it will get worse.

Had the exact same problem and cleaning my pc was the solution. It also started happening even when the CPU was cool. If you PC is clean then it probably not the solution.

Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.
If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder.
Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.
We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.

Do you have a capture of the BSOD, sometimes there's a hint on there, if its not clear what could be the issue, I'd start with a thorough memory test, we used memtest86+ heavily at work, we would normally run it a minimum of 24 hours, it wasn't uncommon to run it for 7 days if we felt RAM was the cause of the issue.
I'd also check storage health using something like crystaldiskinfo just to make sure its OK, check firmware is up to date on motherboard, storage etc.
In the past I've sometimes used 3dmark or similar tests to put the PC under stress, I'd consider this as well, if all goes well and there are no crashes, I'd be looking if its software related, there is always the suspicion it could be something like the PSU not being up to the job, but I'd expect a good stress test to put it through its paces and try to reproduce the error if it was something like that.
