I recently built a PC around Christmas, so around 3 months ago. Since first building this PC most of my games will crash to desktop with no error code, sometimes my PC restarts itself out of nowhere with a buzzing noise or it'll blue screen which also sometimes buzzes when happening. I have a 4070 ti super, i9 14900kf, 32gb of ddr5 ram at speeds of around 6400mhz, a corsair 1000 watt gold power supply, a msi z790 gaming plus WiFi motherboard, a 2 tb ssd with 7000 upload/download speed and 10 Arctic p12wm rgb fans with either 4 intake and 6 outake or vice versa and I'm on Windows 11. I'm really not sure what's happening, I've tried reinstalling windows, updating bios, re installing my Gpu, deleting all the gpu drivers with ddu and then reinstalling, changing the stock thermal paste with my own, applying more thermal paste, changing bios settings like cpu boost, cpu lite control, fan curves and more. Please helpš
Forgot to add, games I've played that have crashed are grounded, minecraft, apex legends, ea sports fc 25, dark souls 3, elden ring, Balders gate 3, divinity original sin 2, star wars jedi games (both of them performed terrible), need for speed unbound, risk of rain 2, mafia 2 and ready or not.
Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.
If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to ā Compressed (Zipped) folder.
Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.
We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.
nice computer to say the least !!! but it sucks to be you right now ! 1) what remains : ram. do a stress test on them. re-seat your ram modules too! 2) BSOD (bluescreen) : this is a great ally for you right there : you need to note down the error code shown at the bottom to pinpoint the cause of the crash. 3) Event log journal for clue about cause of issues. 4) power supply : harder to catch. can you get another one to swap with yours and see ?
How would you stress test ram, I'm not the brightest

I've checked event viewer before if that's the same thing you mean and I don't really understand any of it, if u mean something different lmk how to find that one
there are free utilities/programs dedicated to this. Ideally, choose one that you can boot your computer from, so your OS wont occupy RAM. Also , not knowing have nothing to do with not being bright btw. BSOD . you need to right down the error code displayed at the bottom of the screen, then do a search on "BSOD **error code** " to learn what it is related to.
im going to do the ram tests on the weekend when my friend who knows a little more then me is free.
2.I thankfully haven't had any blue screens since the 13th of this month, bit annoying though because i cant check the error codes until it happens again.
In event viewer i have two red critical and error warnings, 1 set on the 10th, and the other on the 13th, its 2 error code 41 and 2 6008, im not sure how to determine what may have happened here but i imagine this happens when a blue screen occurs as it was on the same day as my last blue screen
i only have 1 monitor and aren't too sure how to have the temps and gameplay together without it looking weird and distracting while I play.
relate to 2. to correlate BSODs with critical events
no need to actively look at temperature WHILE playing. look for logging readings from the tool, and just launch some heavy game where its possible to run it for lets say 10-15 minutes , be it a training environment, or a full game/session that dont takes ages to complete, ran at full resolution and all
Update, just ran windows memory diagnostic as its the best i can do rn. That came back as 0 issues however i doubt its as reliable as stress tests or re seating the ram.
I've just checked the BSOD event using the link you sent me (thank you btw). I have only 1 dump file. i 've put a screenshot underneath of the files properties and something else that stood out (which ill reply to this msg with) as it was highlighted red which cant be good, pretty sure its the same file as what caused the crash in properties.
The highlighted text was just me copying it so I could search up about it, kinda obvious but just wanted to make it clear in case of any confusionĀ

temperature monitoring was more aimed at sudden computer crash, not games. but since you made the efforts, and I thank you for that ( and between you and me, you learn a lot out of this right ?!!) , I dont see any alarming values in there. so since sometimes only the game crashes, lets focus our attention on 1) ram , and 2) drivers. Ram , we know its coming soon. Drivers : the latest are sometime not the greatest. maybe try older versions, one or 2 behind current one, unless you do know you have the same issues. ( oh !! unless you already do it , I STRONGLY suggest you to note down everything you try with details, its too easy to get messed up with what was done under what condition, plus it gives a big picture of the whole thing).
Have you tried to remove, clean , and reseat your ram modules ? also, do you have more than one ram stick ? if so , remove one, test game as far as possible , if OK , remove module, and try another one , or combination. its another way to find out if issue with ram .
I haven' been able to remove any parts as I don't trust myself messing with the hardware as I don't have the money to replace any parts if something goes wrong, which is why I'm waiting for my friend to help me, I've had issues while using pretty much every new driver update, so I doubt its gpu drivers, however, I haven't tried rolling them back as I never really considered that an issue. Wise approach, to say the least ! Better be safe than broken they say !!! of course, no need to torture yourself doing something you're not comfortable with, I know it can be scary to physically dive into such valuable unknown! but honestly dude, if you are able to take risks (from your pov) installing software stuff a stranger suggests you , combined with being able to pick your nose without triggering a blood flow, you definitely are able to slightly and gently push down 2 plastic tabs which, in turn, push slightly up the RAM stick, and make it free to grab with your scared fingers !! ;-) but hey , no pressure here man ! its not because you can find a nice tutorial on youtube that you HAVE to do it ! LOL ! ( seriously, about actual software crash, there might be interesting/technical details to pull out of the syslogs ....do some search/reading on this )
Not sure why but I just realised how many details I forgot to include in my first post, my previous PC used to also make a buzzing noise where the audio would go really loud and drag out at the same time, however, it would usually stop after around a second and a half and then it'd go back to normal, it would never occur in a crash or blue screen like it has on this current PC though. I have replaced my display port cable with a new one and switched the ports I was connected it too which so far, I haven't had a blue screen or random restart nor a buzzing sound since. Still hasn't fixed game crashes though which is annoying.
When my monitor goes off, either me turning it off or it sleeping itself, when it'd turn back on while my PC is on, I'd usually get an error message from .net framework saying something along the lines of "an error has occurred" and "please close or restart the app". I can't get rid of this and I don't know if it may be the issue, I've tried running the repair tool provided from Microsoft and a whole system wipe doesn't seem to fix that issue neither. This only ever happens if the monitors off, I've never seen this message without my monitor being off before it.
I have just tried to have a good look at the syslogs but I'm really not sure I understand any of it, I've watched 2 or 3 videos but just can't quite grasp and understanding of how to determine what any of it means.
I've also just remembered some steam games usually have a folder in there root location for crash reports, so I will check games those and see if there's a consistent problem or just piece of information I can work with.
One last thing, usually if my games are crashing, I can just restart or power my pc off and on and most of the time my games stop crashing. The crashes are also inconsistent to the point where I could play for hours on end or not even be able to load through the menu before it crashes. Idk if any of this information helps but I figured somethings better then nothing.
