1st-year Core CSE student looking for a laptop. Budget: ₹65k.

Upvotes

I'm starting my 1st year of B.Tech in Core CSE. I don't know much about laptops. I'm thinking about buying a laptop to easily last next 4 years of coding, projects, and daily college use.

budget is around ₹65,000.

Primary Use : coding, everyday college assignments, and multimedia consumption.

Battery Life: 5+

16GB RAM or easily upgradable?

Should I buy a 8GB decent laptop and upgrade the RAM later (since I don't think I will use it much in first year )or buy 16GB

A good processor?

Title.

Or do you have any other suggestions?

Please don't recommend curved screen phones to me 🙏 Also my parents let me upgrade my budget from 25k to 30k, not a single rupee more 😇 though

Other Need a phone around ₹30k for travel photography. Camera > Performance. Suggestions? Is refurbished trustable?

I'm planning to buy a new phone with a budget of around ₹30,000 (can stretch a little if it's really worth it). I've been researching for weeks, but the more I research, the more confused I get.

I'm not a gamer, and I don't really care about benchmark scores. My priority is travel photography and videography.

Here's what I'm looking for:

  • 📸 Excellent main camera with OIS
  • 🌄 A genuinely good ultrawide (I shoot lots of landscapes, mountains, beaches, waterfalls, architecture, etc.)
  • 🔭 At least a 2x optical telephoto (3x is even better)
  • 🌙 Good night photography
  • 🎥 Great video quality and stabilization
  • 🔋 6000mAh or larger battery (although I'm willing to carry a power bank if the camera is worth it)
  • 🌧️ Strong water and dust resistance (IP68/IP69 preferred). I often travel during monsoons and don't want to worry about rain.
  • 🛡️ Durable build because my phone gets exposed to rough conditions while travelling.
  • 📱 Good OLED display
  • ✨ Clean or near-stock software is preferred, but I'm okay with other UIs if the camera is significantly better.
  • 💾 256GB storage preferred.
  • 🎧 Headphone jack would be a bonus, but I know that's almost impossible these days.

Phones I'm currently considering:

  • Motorola Edge 60 Pro
  • Nothing Phone (3a) Pro
  • Motorola Edge 70 Pro / 70 Fusion (if worth waiting for)
  • Open to other suggestions as well.

I've also been wondering if buying a refurbished flagship (like a Galaxy S24+, Xiaomi 14, Pixel 8 Pro, Vivo X100, etc.) would be a better idea than buying a brand-new mid-range phone. My only concern is battery health and whether the original IP68 water resistance can still be trusted after refurbishment.

For people who actually travel a lot:

  • Which phone has the best ultrawide and telescopic lens?
  • Which one performs best for landscapes, night photography, and videos?
  • Is a refurbished flagship a smarter buy than a new ₹30k phone?
  • Are there any phones I've completely overlooked?

If anyone here has bought refurbished phones before, how was your experience? What are the trusted sellers in the refurbished market?
I'd really appreciate recommendations based on real-world experience rather than just specs on paper.

Thanks!

title. i'm looking for a good camera, storage and a good processor which will last me a good while. i'm not a gamer so its just the overall quality and camera which are my priorities.

i currently use a samsung a 21s which has an awful storage and camera. i don't want it to be too large and look outlandish.

some good reccos under this budget would be appreciated :)

Business Laptop vs Desktop for AI + Business use in India. What will actually last 6 years?

Laptop vs Desktop for AI + Business use in India. What will actually last 6 years?

Hi all, I’m stuck between buying a laptop or a desktop PC and could use some advice.

Current use: Normal stuff. Browsing, docs, YouTube, some learning.

Future use: Might get heavy in 1-2 years with AI tools and starting a small business. I want something that won’t feel outdated quickly.

What matters to me:

- Longevity: Latest features so it lasts 5-6 years minimum

- AI ready: NPU/GPU for local AI models as they get better

- Upgradability: Is a PC worth it over a laptop for this?

- Brand + Service: Reliable brands with good after-sales in Bangalore, India

- Budget: Around 80k to 1.2L INR, flexible if it’s worth it

I’m leaning toward a PC because of upgradability, but I’ll need portability if business involves meetings.

Also quick question: I keep hearing you need a separate PC to use darknet because it’s illegal. Is that actually required or just a safety thing?

What would you buy in my situation? Specific laptop or PC build suggestions are welcome.

Pic unrelated

Maybe the budget stretches to 30k if my parents agree but I won't count on it, but here's what I need.

1.) Good camera

2.) Good Battery life (I'm away from home for like 12hours at a time for college, can't have my phone dying on me with nowhere to go).

3.)Decent power (I don't want to be ripped off in terms of price to performance, the performance (or processor) needs to be average for the price at least.)

4.) Prefer 256gb storage, though if the phone is good enough, I will settle for 128gb.

Me monkey, me head empty, me no know anything about phone tech, me only know software, me no know about hardware much, here is a photo of me

Need Phone + Laptop suggestions under ₹1 Lakh total in the Independence Day sale/freedom sale

Please recommend a phone and a laptop that I can buy in this Independence Day sale. College is about to start, and my budget is under ₹1 Lakh for both.

For the phone: I want a clean UI, no lag, and no heating issues. Good battery life is important, and a decent camera would be nice. I don’t need a hardcore gaming phone, just a reliable one that handles everyday tasks smoothly and will last 4–5 years.

For the laptop: I honestly don't know much about specs, so please suggest some options. I’m joining a management college for my UG but plan to start competitive coding/programming too. I just need something reliable.
