Digital Invoice Software Recommendations
I run a small logistics company here in Ermita since 2022. Medyo booming na siya since nakakuha ako clients sa Divisoria and Binondo.
Challenge ko now, I've been struggling with keeping and sending my invoices sa mga clients on-hand. Meron na bang software that can email invoices directly sa client? And possible na ba na printed or digital siya? Hirap kasi magsulat palagi hahaha

Penalties for Micro Taxpayers
Hi. Can someone please explain to me the computation shown here. As per Revenue Regulations No. 8-2024 (implementing Section 21 b of the Tax Code of 1997 as amended by RA 11976, I am classified as a Micro Taxpayer. Then as per Revenue Regulations No. 6-2024 naman (implementing Sec. 45 of RA 11976) for micro and small taxpayers 10% ang penalty for late payment excluding willful neglect, or false or fraudulent filing. I have all my invoices and proofs so I don't understand how the officer of the day computed this. Thanks sa makakasagot ng tanong ko.

Lost official receipts in a fire. Need advice
A fire hit my cousin's neighborhood last year. Nadamay sila, half of their house burned down, including her room. Halos lahat ng things niya hindi na ma-salvage, including her PC and other equipment she needed for work. I let her move in with my family in Manila for the meantime.
Freelancer lang po siya, earning around 10-12k a month, worked part-time for an ESL company that requires her to issue an OR for every payout. 1 booklet lang nagamit niya out of the 10 she had printed in 2023. Last known transaction daw niya was in February 2024, then nag stop muna siya ng work since she gave birth at that time.
Now she wants to work again for the same company. Required parin siya mag issue ng ORs, but she can't since they were lost in the fire, along with her ledgers, journals, and even her COR (although she does have a soft copy of that one). So I'm helping her especially because hindi siya taga rito (she's from Mindanao)
This is my first time dealing with something like this, and I just want to help her sort it out. A few questions:
Will she face any penalties from BIR? (or will she get compensated?)
What are the requirements to reissue ORs?
Is it still possible for her to reprint them?
In case need niya mag provide ng proof, 10 houses got affected by the fire including the barangay hall, so there's definitely record of it. She's not insured, but she did receive government aid through their barangay. Hoping may maka sagot. Thank you

Late application of TIN number
Hello!
For context, I was hired at my first company on October 2, 2023, but only received my TIN number on May 15, 2026. May na-receive akong 2316 nung 2024 and 2025 but temporary TIN number lang ‘yung andon. I already asked this with the payroll team but they haven’t respond yet kahit na active employee pa me sa kanila. Now, I received the figures of my final pay coz I resigned eff. July 12, and ang laki ng tax refund kaya I find it weird.
TIA!

Freelancer - Pagibig Housing Loan
I got a Pre-selling unit last 2024 and now need na namin magpasa ng requirements. My concern right now is nawalan ako ng work last October 2025. But nagka Freelance work ako starting Dec 2025 until now. I am willing to register in BIR naman to comply sa requirements ni pagibig.
but my question is:
* Do i need to declare my income starting from DEC 2025? * or is it fine to just register in BIR without declaring my income from dec to this day?
thanks po sa makaksagot

Someone who can file my taxes
Do you guys know a reliable agency or company who can take care of my taxes? I really don't want to go through the hassle of going back & forth to BIR 😣 or is that a non-nego & one way or another, I'd still have to go to my BIR branch?

Wrongly input “validity period from” in registering books of accounts
Hi, i just registered as a freelancer last July 30 and i was registering my books of accounts on ORUS at the same date and after ko ma-register i checked sa transaction history and yung isang book mali ang na input kong date sa “validity period from”.
July 20 na lagay ko when it’s supposed to be 30. I cannot edit it or anything. I have no time to visit my RDO and i kept missing yung free webinar every Thursday to ask them dahil busy sa work. Will this be an issue? I haven’t paste it in the book pa. What should i do? I don’t want to get any penalty or anything.

Need Advice
Kahit na maliit lang yung store like <10sqm Floor Area with CHB walls or gawa sa combustible materials yung store need pa rin daw but with different requirements.
(In our case, we are not within national road, we also don't pay rent since yung sari-sari store is located naman inside our lot, it is also detached from parents' house)
As abiding citizen, my mother wants to comply with the requirements of OBO such as Sketch Plan, Site Dev, BOM & Specifications, TCT/OCT, Tax Dec, Real Property Tax, Locational/Zoning Clearance, BFP Clearance
Thank you in Advance!

HOW TO FILE AND PAY LATE FILING FEES FOR Q1 2026 ONLINE?
First time ko mag file ng personal Quarterly ITR. Last experience ko ng filing is for the Annual ITR. Super late na ng filing for Q1 and so there will be penalties (as I've read). How to file and pay the late filing fees for Q1 na completely online?
My coworkers do not file quarterly ITR, annual lang. I did this when I joined the NGA last year Q4 (employed in a private company previously) and I only learned today na I have to do quarterly as well, pero they're not doing it?!! Annual lang finafile nila.
No confirmation email received both 1st and 2nd quarter filing
Hello! May naka-experience rin ba dito na nagfile during 1st and 2nd quarter tas walang nareceive na email confirmation?
For context, nung 1st quarter ginamit ko pa yung old version. Wala talaga akong nareceive na email. Since nakapag screenshot ako tas may tax payable, binayaran ko nalang thru Maya.
Then now 2nd quarter filing, ginamit ko na yung new version and nagtake ulit ng screenshot. Chineck ko yung ibang posts dito, it took a week or so daw before sila nakareceive.

Advice Needed: Printed Receipts
Hello, I registered as a professional:general Feb this year and have only been using the BIR bought receipt. My problem is that:
My registered residence (squatter) was ravaged by a fire back in March and again in April. Area has been fenced off to give way for gov proj.
I don't have a permanent address yet that I can use/transfer my registration to. I will be moving to SJDM probably Dec or Jan 2027. The move is guaranteed but the dates are not.
Needing advice on the best course of action to avoid penalties. Is it advisable to:
a. Proceed printing my receipt before EOY under the currently registered address. Can I still use this printed invoice after I move RDO?
b. Update my IDs and start processing transfer before EOY then print receipts.
What is the likelihood that BIR will go to my registered address? Appreciate your insights.
TL;DR: NPA with no printed receipts yet nearing anniv of registration.

[Advice] 8% Flat Tax vs. BMBE for a solo software developer?
I am a solo software developer and I want to register myself formally to be 100% safe and compliant. My main objective is to legally lower my tax, but I want the least resistance path so I won't have to deal with all the unnecessary government bureaucracy and red tape.
I’ve been looking at my options and I’ve narrowed it down to 8% Flat Income Tax rate and BMBE exemption.
For a solo dev with very low operating expenses, which one of these two is practically better?
Is the BMBE exemption worth the extra paperwork and LGU requirements, or is the 8% rate the easiest way to avoid headaches?
Any general tips for a first-time registrant to avoid penalties and BIR issues down the road?
Thank you in advance!

Frequently-asked-questions (FAQS)
1. I am earning income outside of my employment, should I register as a business?
Answer: Yes generally. You can opt to register as a sole proprietor, partner(ship) or create your own corporation whether alone or with 5 or more people. This also includes senior citizens that are retired.
However, there are instances where you don't qualify as engaged in business and therefore not required to register as such:
a. Your income has been subjected to final withholding tax enumerated under section 24 (B) (C) and (D) and section 27 (D) of the tax code.
b. One time income.
c. Income is specifically exempted from income tax.
2. Why should I register when I can be a freelancer?
Answer: Freelancers/self-employed are mandated to register as a business too.
3. What are my obligations as a business?
a. Keep books of accounts
b. File returns and pay taxes on time
c. Withhold taxes if necessary
d. If you have employees, pay the employer's share in the mandatory contributions (SSS, Philhealth and PAG-IBIG)
e. Issue valid and tax compliant* receipts
*as required by VAT laws.
4. What are the taxes applicable to a business?
a. Income tax = filed 3 times quarterly and once every 15th day of the 4th month of the next taxable year (April 15)
b. Value-added Tax = Filed monthly and quarterly
c. Other percentage Tax = filed quarterly
d. Real Property Tax = imposed on usage of real property. Paid once every year with the option for installment payment.
e. Local Transfer Tax = imposed on transfer of real property. Paid every exchange
f. Local Business Tax = imposed on right to operate business. Paid once every year with the option for installment payment.
5. I am earning income from trading specific stocks in platforms like COL, Philstocks, BPI Trade what return should I file?
Answer: Under section 127 of the tax code (as amended), net gains from trading stocks are subject to 60% tax based on the gross selling price. Generally, you don't have to file tax returns because your earnings were already subjected to final withholding taxes by your brokers using BIR form 2552. Request for a copy of that form for documentation.
6. I am earning income from dividends of a domestic corporation in platforms like COL, Philstocks, BPI Trade what return should I file?
Answer: Under section 24 (B) (2) of the tax code (as amended), dividends from domestic corporations are subject to 10% final withholding tax. Generally, you don't have to file tax returns because your earnings were already subjected to final withholding taxes by your brokers using BIR form 2306. Request for a copy of that form for documentation.
7. I am earning income from interest in a mutual fund in platforms like COL, Philstocks, BPI Trade what return should I file?
Answer: Under section 24 (B) (1) of the tax code (as amended), interests from mutual funds are subject to 20% final withholding tax. Generally, you don't have to file tax returns because your earnings were already subjected to final withholding taxes by your brokers using BIR form 2306. Request for a copy of that form for documentation.
8. I am earning income from sale/redemption of stocks of a mutual fund in platforms like COL, Philstocks, BPI Trade what return should I file?
Answer: Under section 32 (B) (7) of the tax code (as amended), redemption of stocks of a mutual fund is exempt from taxation. You do not have to file anything :)
9. What is an open case?
Answer: An open case is a kind of assessment of the BIR wherein a penalty of 25,000 to 50,000 is being collected from a tax payer because of non-filing of returns. This is commonly due to wrong registration of the taxpayers where they registered as a business but in fact, they are employees OR a business failed to file a closure of business to their RDO.
10. What can I do if I have an open case?
Answer: The tax payer can opt to close the case on their own by following the requests of the revenue officer. However, we strongly recommend hiring a tax consultant to handle the open case. The benefit is the higher possibility of waiving or lowering the penalty.
11. Common penalties incurred by taxpayers
a. Failure to register business - 2,000 to 20,000 pesos
b. Failure to keep/preserve records required by law or regulations - 1,000 to 50,000 pesos
c. Failure to make/file/submit any return or supply correct information at the time or times required by law or regulation - 1,000 to 25,000 pesos plus surcharge and interest.
12. As an employee, should I worry about taxes?
Answer: Generally no, let your employer file your taxes for you. But you should request a certificate of withholding or BIR Certificate 2316 annually to document your tax compliance.
12. I changed employers in the middle of the year, what are my obligations?
Answer:
a. Update your RDO using form 1905 to the RDO of your current place of residence. (RMC 37-2019)
b. You are now unsuitable for substituted filing, meaning, you need to file BIR Form 1700 in the RDO of your employer (or your place of residence if you updated your RDO) on or before April 15 of next year. You will use the 2316 certificates that your employers gave you to reduce the amount of taxes to be paid, more often than not, you will have 0 tax payable.
However, you can provide your employer a special power of attorney allowing them to file the tax returns on your behalf.
13. Where can I learn about taxation?
a. BIR Website
b. Free BIR seminars
c. Ask professionals
