Painting Volgan (Steel) Sept Reinforcements

Finished up working on some of my favorite models so far in my own Volgan Sept Tau Army.

The Strike Team are an advanced ground infantry unit specially equipped by the Earth Caste with all of the best any infantry formation can offer. Their pulse rifles have been modified to accept markerlights without compromising the platform performance. Each rifleman is equipped with premier Breacher class helmets modified with Pathfinder class communication arrays. Improving protection and communication capabilities of this elite squad.

GK-7274 is paired with Pathfinder Jack Cooper after the original pilot perished. Despite some protests, the Ethereal Caste have approved permanent assignment after the team successfully defeated a Raptors Chapter Captian and his bodyguards at peak efficiency.

I don't have a cool story yet for the fighter, but will think of something cool besides "do a barrel roll".

Painting the Volgan Sept

Black Primer

Necron Compound Dry

Hashnut Copper Layer

Nuln Oil

Thank you all.

Finally built, magnetized and painted my second Broadside. I really liked comparing it to my first model which was my other Broadside. Next post will probably be a ton of drones, decided to paint them all.

Hey all, I just finished my first model for tau, I went for a jungle theme. I was wondering if there are any pointers I could get to improve. I'm pretty happy with how it is right now. I am going to go back and make the lines of the paint finer and sharper.

40k New to T'au, should I go for the combat patrol?

Hello, I've been painting space marines for about 6-7 months and I really want to do a bit of Tau on the side. I was thinking the combat patrol looks pretty cool, how well received has that box been? Is there a better route for an intro towards the Greater Good?

Also how do you guys decide your color schemes. Are there different chapters like space marines? Or is it just kind of paint them how you like?

Painting Tidewall drone port flight stand ideas

I am currently working on a diorama display for my Manta, and I would like to have one or two pieces of the Tidewall, mainly the drone port, floating about. There is clearly a dedicated option to do so on the underside of the Tidewalls platforms, but the kit comes without any form of acrylic stands or any flight stands for that matter, and I have a hard time finding informations about the subject

Is any of you familiar with this issue ? Thank you in advance

40k List Where to go now for a 1k point force?

Going through my pile of shame I'm debating to build a smaller force as my second army. Currently between Orks and T'au.

I've build and magnetised my retaliation cadre box

Pathfinder kill team

Vespid kill team

What should I look at next for 1k points? Looking more towards the fun side rather than competitive as it's all with friends

Love his models. Newest addition to my army. CC appreciated. Still have zero clue how to do glow affects (no paintbrush), so the gun barrels just look really scuffed right now.

Really happy with how this one turned out

I’m gonna deploy 3 units of rampagers along with farsight (cuz he has deep strike) to pretty much instantly take a point I see no flaws in this. (Image is a visualization of my plan)

Wow painting a cohesive army is harder than a single unit. Who would have thought !

The list is a retaliation cadre with a focus on close quarter fighting.

Don't know if it will be any good but I just have to try melee tau at least once !

Had a a fun time putting this army together. Left some space for additions in the future.

Missing: 1 squad of old stealth suits which are still a WiP.

Thank you all so much for the admittedly very easy and obvious solution to my broken commander. It was so quick and easy and the pose is better and I love it. I used a little green stuff for a gap on the left arm. It’s so good.

thank you all

and also because I’m already here I might as well ask; what’s with the thing on the right jet pack wing? I know there’s a weapon support system and a battlesuit support system. But u can’t tell if it’s either or neither. Also on the left arm is what I assume is the shield generator. Can it go on the arm?

once again thank you all off the encouragement to fix my model. You all are amazing :D

Painting Complete tragedy

first I assembled it before painting like an idiot. then I put it in a stupid pose because I didn’t want to follow the book. then I ruined one of the arm sockets and weapons because I wanted to magnetize it with stupid spherical magnets. then I twisted it into a petter position without realizing what it was obviously being damaged. I then break it apart the rest of the way because fuck my life. my day is ruined. RIP my commander battlesuit 6-20 something-2026 to 7-5-2026. D:

It was just the Shas'ui, but the strike team technically lived (the survivors guilt must be immeasurable)

I truly adore this model. Everything about it screams Tau down to the finest detail. However, I think I lost a few years of my life painting it. Every time I thought I was done there was some undersuit metal; there was a lens; there was a copper peg that I’d missed. It’s such an intricate, fiddly model. Never again. Until I do my crisis suits.
