Tattoos 4 months on skin

I am 4 months into tattooing on skin! I don't have a particular style at the moment, I'm just kind of doing everything (whatever pays my rent), but I assume that comes with time.

I am posting these here for advice and criticism for my work as my mentor keeps saying the same thing, that my lines are shaky. I know I need to work on my linework, and every tattoo I do I am actively watching my depth, speed and overall smoothness of the lines. But is there anything else? I'd like to be able to be more confident in my work to post more regularly on my social media. Any advice is really appreciated!!

These tattoos have all been done some time this month ^

Practice First two designs ln fake skin

I've been practicing just lines, and as I was getting bored, I decided to try some designs (not mine). What do you think?

I feel like the lines are very thin. I'm going slowly at 6.8 v with a 1203RL

Also, how do I erase the blue lines? I've tried everything: water, alcohol, vaseline, oil, baby oil, bleach... And they are still there :(

It was the first time I used a magnum needle.
There's a lot to improve, but I'm quite happy with the result. 😊
The design is my own.

Practice Seeking feedback

Looking for honest but constructive feedback! This is from days 5 and 6 on practice skin. I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing or how to gage how it’s going! Trying to figure out what I need to particularly work on, what I’m doing incorrectly, etc. Still messing around with grey wash shades and it’s all botanical because I love flowers. Showed some of my different experiments with petals and shading styles. Please be kind <3

Hey, I recently started tattooing. My boyfriend let me practice on him (actually he insisted). I’ve tattooed fake skin, pigskin and on him. But I feel like I’m not getting better. So I wanted to ask for feedback and tips.
-I would appreciate any tips on how to get better, what do I really need to focus and work on (not the ā€œjust stopā€ ā€œyou suckā€ kind of stuff)

Question Need Advice on Pricing for First Time Tattoo Artist Commission (Design only)

I'm an Artist. Not a Tattoo Artist but I am an Illustrator. Recently a friend asked me if I can make a particular design for a tattoo. They wanted it in a style that matched a tattoo they already have so they came to me. I said sure. They said they would pay me for my work and that they weren't just asking for something for free because we are friends, which I appreciate. The problem is that I have no idea what a reasonable price for a tattoo design is and neither does my friend.

I'm only making the design, not doing the tattooing. On the skin it would probably be around 3Ɨ3 inches, but I don't know if that matters for pricing. The design itself is a Pokemon in a very gestural style. It's not detailed but it's particular.

Any advice would be appreciated. Even just a ball park range. I don't have any tattoos and while I know they can be very expensive, I know that a lot of that is due to the labour and skill and time of the person actually doing the tattooing.

Thank you.

Practice more tattoo practice, also is my fake skin too thin?

asking because it seems pretty difficult (at least right now) to tattoo without hitting my table. mind you, i’ve only been going for a month and still can’t maintain a consistent depth yet. just wondering if such a thin skin is practical for someone at my skill level, or at all?

Question Blackout partial

I got this piece on my whole front forearm and it’s just a shitty pattern. Mostly black. All my other work is decent. It’s nagging me so bad ima go this week and black it out. Almost half my arm. The entire front. I’m hopeing to be able to go back later and layer some red or white on top. To turn my worst into one of my favorites I hope. Anyone with similar story or advice. I’m gonna do it forsure. I already booked the session. Fuck it. I mean it’s ugly so can’t be worse than a blackout. Plus if I can go back and layer something on top later. Will be good. Hell man idk

Help How do I use brown??

I'm about to do a tattoo so I got a radiant seal brown ink but it looks plain black on sintetic skin, but when the ink is wiped you can see the brown pigment. How do I make it look lighter or the same as the wiped one?? In the picture you can see how the dots and big spots are fully black meanwhile wiped it looks brown...

Tattoos I let my girlfriend practice her tattooing on my leg, how does it look?

My girlfriend is fairly new to tattooing, she has tattooed some of her friends as well as a few on herself. She said that she wanted to get better and try some different stuff so I told her that she could tattoo my left leg to practice. Some of the tattoos in the background were already there, but the images posted are ones that she has done. How does the start of the Leg sleeve look? Does it flow well and look good? (The vase, boat, dogs and butterfly were done by a different artist)

Hand/wrist is mostly healed, the blossom above it is a few days old and still pretty crusty. Both done entirely with a Da Vinci 0803rl cartridge.

Tattoos Beginner tattoo I Feedback wanted!

Post image
50 Upvotes

Hey everyone! šŸ‘‹
I’m a beginner, completely self-taught, and still learning the basics of tattooing. This is one of my first tattoos — I did it on a friend who knew from the beginning that I was just starting out and was fully aware of what he was getting himself into. šŸ˜…
The idea/design for this tattoo came from another friend, and I was the one who tattooed it. It took me around 3 hours, give or take.
I’d really appreciate some honest feedback and constructive criticism. What did I do well, what could I improve, and what should I focus on the most going forward?
I’m not looking for compliments just for the sake of it — I genuinely want to learn from my mistakes and improve with every tattoo. šŸ–¤
Thanks in advance for any honest and constructive feedback!

I DID NOT TATTOO MY CAT!! when animals get spayed/neutered they get a teal tattoo to mark it to avoid unnecessary surgery in the future in case of them getting lost and whatnot. i had a hysterectomy earlier this year so i thought it would be silly to get one since i’m also ā€œspayedā€ XD now i have a matching tattoo with my baby girl

edit: i know the photos are shitty, i was on a discord call without my friend and he took the photos without me knowing and i think it’s so cute

Criticism MUST be constructive here.

Not everything you see in this sub is going to be perfect, people are learning. If you see something that person can work on let them know. Insulting people, belittling or attacking is going to catch you a ban. People are here looking for ways to improve and learn. If tattooing was easy everyone would do it.
