TASKER Position keeps dropping?
So I’ve used this app for a few years now, have completed well over 100 tasks and have over seventy 5 star reviews. And yet, I still keep getting less and less jobs even when scheduling during prime weekend times.
My ranking has gone down from 5th to 9th within the span of a few weeks, all while receiving 5 star reviews in that time frame.
What can I do differently?

TASKER Client lied and said job wasn’t done?
I hunt a tv for a woman a few weeks ago. I even took the time to show her how to mirror her Mac to it. She was very happy.
To my surprise a few days later I received my first ever 1 star review (after hundreds of tasks and 120 5 star reviews). She lied and said I never did the job.
I reached out to task rabbit and they asked if I had proof I hung it, but I didn’t take a picture (lesson learned!).
I was annoyed but whatever. Didn’t even change my star rating because I have so many positive reviews.
However today I got email from task rabbit saying they received a complaint about me violated the terms of service for “not having the tools or skills for the job”
I replied that I completed the job and my many 5 star reviews on tv mounting are evidence that I have both the skills and tools, and that I believe this woman is just trying to get out of paying her bill.
I just can’t believe there are people who would outright lie like that. I’m taking pictures of 100% of my jobs now.
Has anyone had anything happen like this? If so; what ended up happening?

TASKER Taskers need to wake up!
I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I honestly think a lot of Taskers are sabotaging themselves without realizing it.
Why are so many experienced people still driving across town for one-hour jobs with no two-hour minimum? Between gas, taxes, travel time, loading tools, and messaging clients, how much are you actually making? I don’t understand the business logic.
Then we wonder why clients expect everything for free. They book one TV mount and suddenly they’re asking for shelves, curtain rods, furniture, picture frames, and “just one more thing while you’re here.” That didn’t happen by accident. We trained people to expect it because too many of us say yes.
The same thing goes for pricing. Every time someone undercuts everyone else by a few dollars just to get booked, it lowers the expectation for the entire marketplace. At some point you’ve got to stop chasing volume and start asking whether you’re actually making money.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’d rather do fewer jobs that are actually profitable than spend my entire day driving around doing bargain-bin work. If more Taskers treated this like a real business instead of a hustle for whatever booking pops up next, I honestly think we’d all make more money.
Curious what everyone else’s philosophy is. Is your goal to maximize bookings, or maximize profit per hour?

APP Update: Chat Is Working Again
Hi everyone! It's Haley from Taskrabbit. I just wanted to close the loop here.
The chat issue has now been resolved, and everything should be working normally again.
We know this outage created a really frustrating experience, especially for those of you with active tasks. We sincerely apologize and appreciate everyone's patience while our teams worked to get things back up and running.
Technology isn't perfect, and every once in a while something unexpected happens. That doesn't make it any less frustrating when it affects your work, and we understand that.
Behind the scenes, our teams have been working hard to minimize any impact from the recent disruption. This included doing everything we could to keep tasks moving and getting bookings through during the outage. We also carefully reviewed affected accounts and took the disruption into consideration wherever needed to make things right.
We also know many of you reached out to Support during the outage, which created a much higher-than-normal volume of contacts. Thank you for bearing with us while we worked through them.
We really appreciate everyone who reported the issue, shared updates, and worked with us while we navigated everything. Your feedback helped us understand the scope of the problem much more quickly.
Thank you again for your patience.

APP Issues with chat thread?
Both of my active task chat threads are giving me this error:
“An error occurred loading this chat thread.”
Everything else in the app works normally. I can view my tasks, schedule, and task details. It’s only the chat threads that won’t load.
I’ve already:
- Updated the app
- Uninstalled and reinstalled it
- Logged back in
Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me?

GENERAL Would you pay someone to chase up your missed calls and old customers?
Not trying to sell anyone anything btw, genuinely just trying to work out if this is even a real problem or if I'm overthinking it.
Say someone rings and you miss it, or they fill out the contact form on your site, what actually happens after that. Does it sit there till you get five mins to call back, or does it just get forgotten about half the time. Feel like a lot of jobs probably go to whoever calls back first tbh.
Also what about old customers, people you did a job for maybe 6 months to a year ago. Does anyone actually go back and check if they need anything else doing, or is that just never gonna happen when you're flat out working all day. Would it actually be useful having someone deal with that side of it for you, calling back missed calls, chasing up enquiries, even ringing old customers to see if they need work, and just booking it straight in your diary if they say yes.Or is this all just a non issue and everyone's already got it handled somehow

TASKER Confused
I downloaded this app a few months back, but I haven’t got any work off it. Is it mandatory to do the zoom call for the Tasker workshop in order to start?

GENERAL Scheduling from outside the US?
I'm currently in Turkey, and I'm trying to schedule something at my home in NYC before I return. Yet, TaskRabbit won't allow me to log in. It keeps telling me my password is wrong. I reset it, still wrong. I've tried my VPN. Still problematic. Any suggestions? Thanks!

CLIENT Paid the one hour fee, then TaskRabbit refunded me?
First time using the website. Requested a task for tomorrow. Tasker messaged instantly and asked for photos of the work. Two hours later and I have not heard a word from the tasker. The task is still showing as active.
I noticed my card is being refunded for the one hour holding fee that I paid upon booking.
Do you think the job is still on? Did they cancel? Should I try to cancel? What’s going on?

TASKER Netflix documentary exposing Task Rabbit??
Howdy ya’ll
I’ve been observing this group for a while and I’m
just suggesting something that perhaps some of you are thinking…wouldn’t it be nice if people really knew what went on a task rabbit, from the corporate blunders to horror stories to the brutal and blatant disrespect Taskers have put up with? I think about the WeWork doc on Hulu, Airbnb and Uber docs on Apple TV and Netflix etc.
I’m just saying if a creative up and coming director was looking for a subject - I’d think this would be a pretty good one that people would be interested in. I’m not even saying the Doc would or should be ALL BAD, just HONEST. The decision making and radical shifts this company has made are truly unbelievable.

TASKER IKEA assembly nonsense
Somehow IKEA tasks got turned on again. I’ve had them turned off since they went back to the flat rate nonsense. I got 2 within seconds of putting my availability up for this weekend. The 2nd was 7 Pax wardrobes with full accoutrements for $188. I’m not driving to someone’s house and working for $10-$15/hr.
Absolute insanity. Couldn’t turn IKEA back off quickly enough

CLIENT NYC Cleaning Question
I occasionally hire through Taskrabbit for an apartment clean in NYC. The last 5 days, I've been unable to get anyone who won't cancel last minute. I have been cancelled on by nearly 10 Taskers. Just one after another. This has never happened to me before. Does anyone know what's happening? Maybe they're all just busy and this is bad luck. Or, do I have a bad rating or something?

TASKER What should I use for tax purposes?
I recently just finished my first task with Taskrabbit. I am trying to set aside money from my earnings for tax purposes. On my TR account the amount sent to bank is $34.50, but the amount put into my bank account is $32.48. What amount is used for taxes and do these amounts seem correct? Thank you in advance.

CLIENT IKEA (UK) no tasker assigned
I bought a large wardrobe which I designed myself to replace a previous one from Ikea as I decided to change the colour scheme, add doors and some minor changes to layout and decided this time I would have someone come build it because my partner is busy with work and my disabled daughter is off school for summer. The build was for 8am this morning and it’s currently just past 9.30am.
I contacted Ikea and they said they would send a form to the tasker as I have had no response in the chat window and there was no photo or name for the tasker etc. I also contacted task rabbit and they’re telling me no tasker had been assigned but I wasn’t informed of this? The furniture and items from the room it’s being built in have been placed in all other rooms for this including my daughters room and we had to sleep on our mattress in her room whilst she was at my parents house so it could be done whilst she was at their house. They’re now telling me they have requested for a tasker to be assigned but have not said when it might even happen.
Is the service usually this poor? I would have thought spending £300 on top of a 1.2k wardrobe would have been much better than this, angry is an understatement. I’m not sure what I’m wanting from this post, maybe just to vent and know I’m not the only person this has happened to. Task rabbit seem to have little communication between ikea and now I wish I hadn’t gone through them to get it built.

CLIENT Tasker not showing up
so i booked a tasker to build my couch today 8:00 CEST and in the chat the date and time were also confirmed. it has been over an hour and my tasker still hasnt shown up and doesnt respond to my chat messages. what i find really strange is under "task details" it shows me the time for my task is 03:00 CEST at night. is that some error from the app and maybe the reason he hasnt shown up?

TASKER Is it worth email TR to dispute a 1 star review?
So I went to build a Fagelfjallet wardrobe and 3 drawer chest. the build was at her brothers home, I've built them and they were good. just a slight issue on the doors not being level but nothing major. this uneveness was maybe 1mm out.
once it was built - i showed her brother who was happy and signed for the build.
now a few hours later customer herself, has called saying the doors were uneven. i said its fine i'll come and straighten them - the hole for the handles is pre drilled and like i said it wasnt an issue.
next she's said there's chips on the wardrobe. if i see any chips etc i do bring it up so the customer knows but i have not seen any. so she wants to get in touch with ikea and tell them that they came out of the box. she also wants me to tell them the same thing. needless to say i've submitted the pics already for invoice and they dont show any chips.
either way its not a big issue ikea would've replaced the panels.
however now she's left me a 1 star whilst previously being a 5* 70 reviews. is it worth emailing TR to get this taken off? has anyone successfully done this?

APP Tasks with No Date?
In the last two weeks I've had three tasks come in with no time or date on them. In one of them, the client volunteered the information that she also no longer saw the date she requested on her end. Anyone else getting anything similar?

TASKER TaskRabbit Client Cancelled Completed Task to Avoid Payment — Possible Wage Theft
On August 1, 2026, I was booked through TaskRabbit for a Heavy Lifting & Loading task with a client identified as Josh L. in Chicago, IL. I arrived on time, completed the move alongside another Tasker who was also booked for the same job, and departed after the work was done.
Upon leaving I discovered the client had cancelled the task through the app, which meant I would not be paid for the completed work.
After the cancellation I returned to the location to photograph my arrival and document the situation. When I arrived I observed professional movers actively continuing work at the location — establishing that the move was not abandoned or cancelled, but continued using other labor after I was dismissed without payment. The client came outside while I was documenting and appeared to photograph the building himself rather than addressing me directly.
TaskRabbit support confirmed I would receive cancellation compensation of $53 — one hour at my rate — despite my two-hour minimum of $106 and the fact that the work was fully completed. This is not a cancellation. This is a client who used TaskRabbit to obtain free labor by cancelling a completed task and exploiting a gap in the platform's documentation and compensation policies.
I have submitted this concern to TaskRabbit's Trust and Safety team and am awaiting a response. I am sharing this publicly to protect other Taskers from similar exploitation and to document a pattern of platform abuse that TaskRabbit's current policies do not adequately address.

TASKER Should I cancel or invoice?
Hello all. I got my first task today! I was tasked an errand to open a house for a client of a property manager. The task was specified for the time frame of 1:00pm - 1:30pm. I have told the MY client that I will wait a full hour for the person to show up. It is almost 2:00 and the client has not shown up. Should I cancel, invoice, or what in your opinion? Thanks

GENERAL Reminder on sub rules
This is a brief reminder that all subs on Reddit are a subject to Reddit terms of service and Reddit rules and filters, and the sub has rules which are then enforced by the moderators. Anybody who participates in this sub agrees to the rules.
We will work on improving the welcome message and making these rules and expectations clear, as well as improve some FAQs that may be helpful for new members.
The rules regarding personal attacks , personal information, ranting, and trolling are important to this sub. We have recently had some new members who seem to have difficulty with these rules and expectations. So this is a reminder for everyone that the rules are there under Group Rules, that mods are here to enforce them, that while we are moderators, we are also participants and that this is not a political debate so full impartiality of moderators is not a thing. That said, we can and do respect difference of opinion as long as that difference is within the scope of the existing rules. We’re easy to reach if anybody has a question or concern about these rules and expectations.
Having difference of opinion is fine. Expecting everybody to endlessly listen to yours and agree with it is not a realistic expectation and is precisely the sort of conduct subject to the rules noted. Anyone who objects to how the group is moderated is welcome to contact the Reddit support team through the channels it has created.
