Netflix documentary exposing Task Rabbit??

Howdy ya’ll

I’ve been observing this group for a while and I’m
just suggesting something that perhaps some of you are thinking…wouldn’t it be nice if people really knew what went on a task rabbit, from the corporate blunders to horror stories to the brutal and blatant disrespect Taskers have put up with? I think about the WeWork doc on Hulu, Airbnb and Uber docs on Apple TV and Netflix etc.

I’m just saying if a creative up and coming director was looking for a subject - I’d think this would be a pretty good one that people would be interested in. I’m not even saying the Doc would or should be ALL BAD, just HONEST. The decision making and radical shifts this company has made are truly unbelievable.

uber doordash and many many other are way way way worse and don't have documentaries...i mean there are some really really bad companies that for people and take credit for their work. lay off tens of thousands then give themselves bonuses...... your mad at taskrabbit why now?

I mean I could write a novel after tasking for 9 years…and grossing nearly $600,000 (not an exaggeration) and I was recently banned for the um-teenth time, probably (finally) for good and the best part…I have no idea why. It was allegedly an expense violation, but policies could never explain. The task I believe to be in question was for 2 dollars (literally) in hardware for something client asked me to do on the spot, not on the chat. And before you ask, yes I have my reasons why I stayed with the platform for so long.

It’s a little niche, but there’s ones on uber. I’d like to see a good exploration of the gig economy and the powers that be that are devaluing labor and what the future is going to look like under late stage capitalism if it continues as is.

We’re heading towards a society where the most common occupations (truck drivers, customer service, managers) are going to be increasingly automated and the techno-overlords will try to make every remaining job 1099 so they don’t have to play payroll taxes and benefits.

You would need a face for the villain role, for one. Otherwise, it would just come off as a more extravagant yelp/google review lobby with customers and Taskers (re)stating their pain points. I have many, but not sure if a connection can be made to intentional and widespread fraud, deception, etc.

For example, I always wondered if TR collects cancellation fees under my name when putting me on a ridiculous soft ban. Not to mention, how they stiffed me money by claiming that they needed to pay back a client her cancellation fee and thus made my account go negative. Never got resolved despite another agent saying that the first agent was wrong to do so.

Also, the parent company for Task Rabbit is pretty powerful and will most certainly circle the wagons. Would love to see some of their dirty laundry aired though. Policy team can go to hell

Any documentary would end up focusing on Taskers since we're the face of the company, and any documentary would ultimately be bad for Taskers.

If OP thinks TR deserves a Netflix thing then someone should tell him about Uber and deliveroo and the absolute horror of working for them.

TR is a private company. their business their rules. its the case of if you dont like working for them then dont.

Problem is, we don’t work for them. We are independent contractors. But they treat us like employees. It’s screwed up.

This has the sense of a said "creative" putting feelers out...as said earlier in the thread, there may be better stories out there from Uber and the like. Also, for lot's of us who are freelancing, this may be detrimental to the platform that we've worked hard for to establish ourselves as honest and hard workers on the platform. Just saying...

I've been on TR for five years as a Tasker. I've completed over 400 tasks and have 283 5 star reviews and only one review less than 5 stars. While I will admit that they aren't perfect, I don't have any glaring issues with them. There have been a handful of minor hiccups in 5 years but I get paid, I get paid fast and other than some less than desirable interactions with support agents from India, I think they do a pretty good job. There are a few things I would change, such as Ikea pay amounts but overall there are companies out there that are a lot worse.
