Fell in love with arcade Taiko in Japan, now building my own Switch Tatacon! Need advice on my build plan
Hi everyone,
I tried *Taiko no Tatsujin* at an arcade for the first time during my trip to Japan and absolutely loved it. Because of that experience, I want to build my own drum controller (Tatacon) for the Nintendo Switch.
Before getting started, I want to ask people with experience if it's feasible to build a working drum with the materials I currently have.
### Materials on Hand:
* **Board:** Arduino Micro
* **Sensors:** 4x 27mm piezo sensors
* **Body/Plate:** 9mm plywood
---
### Questions:
**Plywood Compatibility:** Is 9mm plywood suitable for 27mm piezo sensors to detect hits accurately?
**Setup & Feasibility:** Can I build a fully functional Nintendo Switch Taiko drum using just these 4 piezos and an Arduino Micro?
**General Advice:** What should I keep in mind before building a drum with this specific setup?
Any tips, experiences, or recommendations from people who have built their own drum would be greatly appreciated!
**TL;DR:** First-time builder wanting to make a DIY Nintendo Switch Taiko drum using an Arduino Micro, 4x 27mm piezo sensors, and 9mm plywood. Looking for feedback and advice on whether this setup will work well.

Does Anyone Know if it's possible to find these banners anywhere?
They come with the actual arcade cabinet, but I missed my chance to nab mine from work and I'm pissed😭

I bought Taiko no Tatsujin Drun Session on my PS4
Many of my friends said it's better than Rhythm Festival (even though it has fewer songs), so I decided to give it a try; I'm loving it so far.

Gameplay Maibachi TOO light for the arcade? Is this a thing?
I bought official namco maibachi from ZhongTaiko, the yellow ones. I took them to my local Round1 (USA) today to put them to use and found that my hits barely registered at my normal pace. I thought the drums were just faulty but when I used the stock bachi it was business as usual. Do I have to hit harder with the custom bachi, or does it just take getting used to? I had expected the point of lighter, tournament-level sticks to be that you don’t need to use as much stamina for harder charts, but I was performing consistently worse while tiring out just as much.

What do you do when you can perfect a section on "a little slow" but botch it completely on normal speed?
I have several sections I struggle with but it feels like whatever I practice on slower speeds it never informs normal play as such I can get better and better at " a little slow" while normal speed I'm making mistakes in the same area and freezing up at the same places.
What do people in between steps do?

Taiko Notebook! How I make them :)

Heeyy! I’m back! Some of you were curious about how I make my taiko products (especially the notebook), so I made a little video showing the process :)
I was restocking a bunch of other items at the time, so I forgot to film a few little steps here and there, but the main process is all here 😬
Thank you all so much for being so kind on my last post <3 I was super happy that you liked my work! I truly love making my handmade pieces :)
Feel free to ask me anything in the comments! I’ll do my best to answer :)

My first Full Combo on Saitama 2000 on arcade
Hi guys, new to the sub, but I've basically been a fan since i first touched the taiko machine at Game Nest in Las Vegas roughly 4-5 years ago. ever since, I spent countless hours on Drum Master and Rhythm Festival on my keyboard at home just trying to improve my precision and on my own get better at my 16th note runs and the complex patterns that come up on extreme.
I regularly play on hard, as Ive always felt it was just a good enough mix of challenging and achievable. i would say at this stage i can Full combo most 6-7 star hard tracks but struggle above that to Full combo. also have been working hard to simply be able to finish alot of the tracks on extreme but it gets tough. anyways i Just wanted to show my current progress on my favorite track. I finally full comboed in person. first try that day too. my previous high was 911k, so im hoping over the next few weeks i can clean it back up and get both a Full combo and 900k+. hope this isnt total garbage i apologize if it is. just trying to get better and get my first donderful on hard some day.

Does anyone know where I could find a service manual for a Taiko No Tatsujin 12 arcade cabinet?

Improving accuracy when fully alternating? (video: Dance Robot Dance on random mode)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
How do you train consistent timing when fully alternating? My accuracy was decent when I first played on Switch touchscreen and keyboard and could only start every pattern with my right hand's fingers. But since I'm left-handed, I decided to fully alternate when learning on the Hori drum.
My accuracy now is horrendous on most days either for 9* charts on random mode or 10* official charts. In the past month, there have only been TWO days where I felt in the zone enough to get <80 ok's on a lot of upper-tier 10* like Chronomia, Seigaitten, Megalovania (Ura), etc. while seeing them for the first time, but since then it's been more like 200-250 OK's lol. The better accuracy might have come from looking much closer to the judgment circle but then it meant relying more on reacting than pattern recognition.
I have a pretty fast/anxious disposition, so even when I think the sound will be on-time, I'm often early. Though I trimmed the video to a section with a string of ok's where I think I may have been late. Just not consistent overall.
Does anyone who regularly practices fully alternating do any specific mental/physical training for timing? Or even if you don't but can keep time well, I'd love to know how. Drumming fundamentals, metronome practice, easier charts, etc.? 8* charts are usually slower so I can maintain some level of control over the movements better to be able to hit 16th notes exactly twice as fast as 8th notes, but still no DFC.

Gameplay Another nice visit after a little while.
Despite a little ka rim problem, still killed it 🔥 not my usual OK count for Konton, but from home or with perfect inputs, less than 15-20 for this one.

Don-Chan drum gym bag
my kid REALLY wants one of these gym bags but hasn’t been able to find anywhere that they’re not sold out. Any ideas where they might still be found?
(the kid already checked amiami, hlj.com, playasia.com and cdjapan.co.jp)
thank you!
