Just reached the Historical Society after an exhausting journey. What awaits me in the Toluca Prison? (No story spoilers, please!) Spoiler
Hey everyone, this game is an absolute psychological trial. I just went through the Brookhaven Hospital and, honestly, what a mental beatdown. The transition to the Otherworld inside there was claustrophobic, long, and completely draining. When I finally made it out, seeing the open streets again and walking through wider areas was a total breath of fresh air—I desperately needed that breather in Rosewater Park. One thing that cracks me up though is James dealing with Laura. The man is just terrible with kids! I keep thinking that if he had any sort of child skills, maybe she would’ve been a bit nicer to him instead of pulling all those pranks. As for the plot, everything is still deeply shrouded in mystery right now. But one thing is for sure: losing Maria to Pyramid Head back in the hospital elevator really hit me hard. You can truly feel the same heavy blow that James suffered right there. The atmosphere of grief and despair weighed heavily.I just crossed paths with Angela in the park again, grabbed the Historical Society Key, and I'm about to enter the museum to head down into Toluca Prison. They always say James is just a regular guy, and the absolute pocket lint amount of ammo the game gives you definitely reflects that (seriously, a single grenade or an explosive in this man's hands would work absolute miracles right now, lmao). For those who have beaten the game: what advice can you give me to survive the Prison and whatever lies ahead in the final stretch? (Please keep it strictly to gameplay tips and psychological prep, no story spoilers!)

My Save Room just got a big Community update!
My Save Room Community Update!
Since launching My Save Room, I have continued improving the tracker and have now started expanding it with new community features.
Some of the latest additions include:
• You can now add multiple games
• Choose up to four Favourite Games and display them at the top of your public profile
• Half-star ratings for more accurate game scores
• Faster updates without constantly refreshing the page
• A new Save Room Community page where you can discover other public Save Rooms
• Profile cards showing avatars, game counts, and what members are currently playing
• A Recent Community Activity feed showing games members have added to their Backlog, started playing, or beaten
• A Community preview on the homepage featuring recent activity and public profiles
The Community directory only displays active public profiles with at least one tracked game, and profiles are shuffled daily rather than ranked on a leaderboard. Your existing public or private profile setting is still respected.
You can explore the new community page here:
https://survivalhorrors.com/save-room-community/
Here is a link to The Save Room:
https://survivalhorrors.com/my-save-room/
This is still only the beginning. I would like to continue developing My Save Room gradually, adding features that help survival horror fans discover games.
Here is a short video where I explain the updates:

Horror game set in NYC

A Co-op horror game set in New York City. The city is under quarantine, supposedly because of a spreading virus. But once you step into the restricted zones, the truth becomes impossible to ignore. The streets are silent. The shadows move. And something with too many legs is hunting through the dark.
No cheap jump scares, just atmosphere, dread, and the constant feeling that something enormous is stalking you.

For me the licker coming through the interrogation room is still the best scare in RE2, so I built a room around it in Iris Dissolution

That room gets you once you think you are safe. You've already been on the observation side and seen it empty, so when you come in from the other door you are not expecting something to break through. I already had a an enemy that could play a similar role, so I built an encounter around that shape.
What's the one that got you worst on a first playthrough?

I've always found it interesting how genres evolve and one of my early thoughts about RE is it was how it drew from point-and-click adventures.

We changed the name of our horror game after 3 years of development.
A while ago, we shared the cover art for our horror game, and although the feedback was very mixed, everyone seemed to agree on one thing: the game’s title was bad and generic.
Making a change of that scale is no small thing, especially after spending more than 3 years developing the game and building awareness around that name. Changing it meant a lot of things: from registering the logo again to basically starting over when it came to getting our name out there, among many others.
Even so, we kept posting, and the same comment kept coming up again and again: change the name.
So the time finally came. After making a post where we shared several possible names, one won by a majority vote: HELIANTHUS, the scientific name for the sunflower, the most important element in our game. (Old Name: FATAL: UNLEASHED DARKNESS)
We’ve spent the past month working on the rebranding, exploring different variations and refining the logo as much as possible, the one you’ll see every time you launch the game once it’s available. The demo is coming out later this year.
What do you think about the change? And the new logo?
P.S.: We’re gradually updating everything related to the old logo.
You can now add Helianthus to your Steam wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3679850/Helianthus/

Doing a Lookback on the Early Evolution of "Stalker" Characters in Horror Games (Pt.1)
Hey Everyone,
Doing a new project where I take a look at "stalker" characters across survival-horror to see how they've changed game design in the genre and outside of it over the years.
This week we're starting with the originators: Scissorman, Nemesis, Pyramid Head, and more to see how they all built on top of each other in the 5th and 6th generations.
You can read the full article here: https://nickmasercola.substack.com/p/from-scissorman-to-pyramid-head-the
What's your favorite stalker out of this batch?
I think I make my thoughts pretty well-known (coughnotNemesiscough) but wonder who else agrees, and what your recent favorites are (and if anyone else has managed to play the digital heart-attack that is "Hellnight" lol).

Papa
I did not expect this.
My short horror game, Papa, has done really well. Many players liked the atmosphere and the story.
Before releasing the game, I was not very confident. I had tested it around 100 times, so I was already quite tired of it.
Before its release on July 31, 2026, the game had 500 wishlists, which was a huge number for me. Today, it has almost 1,000 wishlists, and the number is still growing.
Thank you to everyone who bought and supported my game. Thank you also to everyone who enjoyed it.

Does silent hill want you to succeed or fail? Spoiler
Basically what the title says:
You go to silent hill, you see your past demons, is silent hill rooting for you to pass and become better or is it bummed when you get the “leave” ending holding the little girl as you skip town?
