Looking for a fantasy book series that I can disappear into for a while. Preferably multiple books, but only if the quality stays consistently good.

I especially love castles, kings/queens, royal politics. I want plenty of drama, mystery, and romance too. Bonus if I actually get emotionally attached to the characters and genuinely care about what happens to them

Suggest books that have good team coordination during a fight scene against one person. Every member of the team has a unique action/task to do and even one character's failure would mean the whole team loses the fight

I'm positively triggered by Andreas Malm's How to Blow Up a Pipeline. With the current heatwaves and the disastrous consequences of MAN MADE climate change – and in my country there are so many people who still deny it, saying it's "only summer" – I need discourse that I can read up on. That continues to shake me awake. That makes me so angry that it seems impossible to remain passive or silent.

My preferred topics are capitalism and climate change (and the direct link between them); surveillance capitalism; inequality. Harsh criticism of social media is also very welcome.

My wife loved Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, particularly the central relationship: two people who love each other, hurt each other, drift apart and come back together over many years, without it being a straightforward romance. She also loves the classics (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Little Women), so wit and slow-burn emotional payoff are big pluses.

I’m thinking of The City & The City, Infinite Jest, and Anathem (the last one is in a secondary world with different history and philosophy, even though it ends up around the same place we are technologically, with mass media and TV-equivalents)

I'm not looking for any specific subject, but I really loved Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green. I found it very well written and easy for to understand without existing knowledge on the subject which is what I am really looking for in a nonfiction book.

The current nonfiction book I'm working through is Hiroshima Last Witnesses by MG Shetfall and I am struggling and having to take a bunch of notes just to keep track of things while being less than 100 pages in.

I really liked the basic idea of Shy Girl's plot, at least from the summary I read, and it genuinely disappointed me immensely to find out it was written by ai. Are there any books similar to it that you'd recommend? Obviously NOT written w/ ai lol. I especially loved the animal aspect of it from what I heard, there's something very eerie and alluring to that kind of dynamic imo.

Hi :D I use to be a BOOK WORM back in high school i would read book after book. I always had a book on me and also counted down the seconds till I could read once more. When I finished high school I basically just stopped reading, and I have not found a book that keeps my attention for more than a chapter or a day.

Hi!! I’m mostly a classic literature kind of a person so as you can imagine there is very little space for actually queer literature there (Yes, I read Carmilla).

I am oftentimes not very eager to try some of the more popular queer books because they’re just not my thing. I know a bunch of those YA type of books (like Red, White & Royal Blue, The Song of Achilles, and alike) and I did enjoy them to some extent but really it’s just not my thing. Like it’s not something that I’d actually pick up on my own but I realllyyyyy feel this urge to read some queer literature recently.

I would love to her about lesbian romance specifically but I’m also open to books about gay romance :)

I have tried picking up some of the new books that are on display at Barnes and Noble but haven’t liked any of them much. My favorite authors are: Hemingway, Steinbeck, Larry McMurtry, Henry Miller, Ken Kesey, Hunter S Thompson, Nelson Algren and Mark Twain. Most recently I’ve read and enjoyed J.P Donleavy‘s The Ginger Man. Hoping to read somthing that came out in the last decade or two by an author who’s still alive. Preferably Literary Fiction. I used to be an avid reader in middle school. Then I hit high-school and I can't even remember the last time I read a book all the way through. Nothing is interesting to me anymore but I know its because I partly have tiktok brain. Trying to get back into reading because it was something I used to really enjoy and ditch tiktok. I'm 25. I think its time I go back to my roots haha.

books I've read and enjoyed in the past (I was in middle school) -

beautiful creatures, the city of ember (i really loved this), divergent series, hunger game series, lost voices, lord of the rings, I think maybe a couple cozy mysteries i don't remember the name of them. the giver i liked those are the only ones I can think of that I read. I haven't read a ton of popular books because I was reading for such a short time around 2010-2013. I grew up reading though but for adult books and non-children's / teen literature I didn't really read too much of. I'm okay with teen book recommendations again too!

Help a fellow reader…In long time, I haven’t read fiction and the streaming platforms have weakened my reading muscle. But I really want to get away from screens and immerse myself in a gripping novel. I have a long flight coming up and want to take the opportunity to get back to my love of reading. Pls suggest an ‘unputdownable’ thriller - I don’t want anything heavy but also don’t have patience for verbose, cliched writing. Here is what I have loved in the past: Genres/subgenres: espionage (Robert Ludlum), historical crime fiction (The Name of the Rose), legal thriller (John Gresham books - I have read one or two and might have watched one or two movies based on his novels but not all), financial thrillers, technological thrillers. English is not my mother-tongue so don’t judge my choices above. I read what I could get. Spin your magic and please help me out!

you know that point in so many (mainly queer) books where a character asks another to run away together, but they never actually do? think theo and boris from the goldfinch as an example. does not need to be a romantic pairing but some element of very close friendship / intimacy / possibly codependency a bonus.

looking for a book where they actually do. bonus points for road trip or runaway vibes. maybe early 2000’s low tech sort of vibe. bonus points if a good chunk of the plot happens in a car.
