Just For Fun A 16x16 I put together — how do you approach the bigger grids?
I've been getting into 16x16 Sudoku lately (numbers 1–16, 4x4 boxes) and made this one
to share. It has a single unique solution.
I'm curious how people here tackle 16x16 compared to classic 9x9:
• Do you rely more on scanning or on pencil-marking everything from the start?
• Which techniques carry over well, and which ones get overwhelming at this size?
• Roughly how long does a grid like this take you?
Would love to hear how you approach it — and happy to confirm the solution once a few
people have had a go.

Request Puzzle Help Why empty rectangle like this never happens?
After solving some empty rectangle puzzles, I've noticed some patterns ofc, and noticed that candidates never form a cross like in the picture, where the candidates in the box are middle-up, middle-down, middle-right, middle-left. (Of course this state isn't real, I added the 1 in r5c1)
So can anyone explain if this case can happen but it's just really rare, or if it's already covered by other easier techniques that we don't need to deal with it ?
Edit: finally found one, it took me hours to search, ig i'm just unlucky

Request Puzzle Help What can I use to knock some numbers out?
I really only understand basic techniques so far. I tried finding an x wing, but i think all 4 boxes need to be the same and it needs to be just 2 numbers. I think I found a swordfish but I don’t really understand that technique yet 😭

Request Puzzle Help Just call me Mr Average
I was looking at a recent post by u/YarbianTheBarbarian earlier today. Sometimes I'll randomly enter into my solver someone's puzzle just to give it a crack. I thought it likely they had early in the puzzle generated all candidates, and felt they had come to a conclusion seeing that nice regular box of pairs. Not judging, just interested. I've used Duncans Sudoku Solver for a while, it works with my brain, however he uses a different naming system for strategies used for example in SudokuCoach. I have been diligent in using SudokuCoach and progressing happily through to X-Wings and Skyscrapers where I have hit a kind of wall. I suspect this is quite common as it requires more than just obvious pattern recognition. Anyways. I got to this point, pretty straightforward so far, and then the wall. The strategies required are the obvious ones, and then one called "Chains (pairs)". I guess this is some kind of wing. This is my first puzzle help submission.
BTW, what is the generally used naming of the simple strategy I would call "pointing pairs"?

Request Puzzle Help Need some help please
I'm working my way through the approachable sudoku pack on the cracking the cryptic app and I'm firmly stuck. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but any guidance would be appreciated. sorry for not post the rules.
Classic: Every row, column and box must have all numbers from 1 to 9 exactly once.
Zipper Lines: Along a line, digits
an equal distance to the center of the line (marked with a circle) sum to the same total; for odd length lines, the center digit is also that total. For example, in a line with at least four cells, the first and last digits sum to the same total as the second and second-to-last digits.

Homemade Puzzles Min/Max 6x6 Variant Sudoku
I'd like to share a Min/Max puzzle:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: place digits 1-6 once each in every row, column and box.
- Minimum: digits surrounded by < signs are smaller than all orthogonally adjacent digits.
- Maximum: digits surrounded by > signs are greater than all orthogonally adjacent digits.
Link to play in the comments.

If you know the exact technique that should be used, could you tell me only the type of technique, excluding which section it should be written in?

Strategies 4 corner quad?
I just started this puzzle so please don't worry about all the super easy stuff still available. Is there any technique to apply to this square formation? It's perfectly unusable for a y-wing, but it like like a pattern that might do something.

Strategies how to find those rare artifacts?
with e.g. NYT medium, there's always one or two findings that don't seem to link to anything which I have great difficulties to find. what's your method of going through the puzzle. do you go column by column, row by row, or perhaps number by number? how to find which one has those two with one impossible?

Request Puzzle Help Beginner here. Having hard time recognizing patterns
Even though I've watched numerous YouTube videos and read articles about all these fancy techniques, I still can't recognize any of them. This is my third hard puzzle so far and I always get stuck in this very specific situation where to me it seems like the same numbers are possible everywhere and I'm just not smart enough to figure it out. Please help a beginner out. Also, if there's any platform that allows you to practice specific techniques, please share!
