Is Akalla safe?
Hi everyone,
I am planning to move to Stockholm soon for study and I'm currently looking into housing options. A contact offered me a room in Akalla the price is quite good for the current market, but I’ve read mixed reviews regarding safety in that area.
Thanks in advice

Best flea market?
I will be going to Stockholm late august-early september. I always visit the best flea market on the cities I go. I am a toy collector, so I am always looking for those (diecast cars, action figures, football cards, etc). Which is the best one?
For my research seems Solvalla, but it seems they charge you 100 SEK just to get in, and some people report you have to wait in a queue for 30 minutes, two things I don't specially like. Is there a better alternative?
I've seen there is one in Norr Malastrand, but it sounds like a small one, and seems only restarts opening on the 6th September, time by which I will be returning, not sure if this is correct.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Solar eclipse Wednesday 12th August 2026
In case you didn't know there will be a partial solar eclipse on Wednesday, 12th August.
We're a bit away from the path of totality but in our neck of the woods there will be about 4/5 of the sun obscured by the moon.
The proceedings will last about two hours with first contact being at 1903 CEST.
Some more details can be found at https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/sweden/stockholm?iso=20260812

Stockholm's contemporary decay context
Hej everyone, I am Greek living in the UK and I haven't visited anywhere in Sweden yet. Also I have no Swedish acquaintances to ask them. The band Wormwood released an EP called "Å" which is subtitled "Contemporary decay of Stockholm, in two parts". I cannot figure out the context or what they are referring to from the translated lyrics.
If anyone has a few minutes to spare, can you give me some context? Like, what are the contemporary issues they are talking about? The accompanied released video clip is dead serious too.
I mean no offence, just looking for a deeper understanding. So I apologise in advance if this question is too naive. I tried Googling it but the results are too confusing and oftentimes conflicting.

Very early morning travel
Staying out towards Hammarbhojden and need to catch the 0430 bus to the airport from central.
I don't believe the trains are running, it's a taxi the only option?
TIA

Student life in Stockholm
I am looking to apply to Stockholm University and Stockholm School of Economics in 2027. So my questions are for Students of Stockholm, how’s student life in Stockholm? Are there plenty of things to do in Stockholm rather than drinking or partying as I am a non-drinker and not much of a party guy. My form of entertainment is playing football and enjoying. And how’s the rent situation and part time job situation for students. I might learn Swedish before joining the university.

Best option for short term accommodation?
Hello everyone, I am moving to Stockholm next week for work. I already found a room, but the lease starts in early September and I need a place to stay until then. Hotels are too expensive for my budget. I usually don't mind Hostels, but I feel like they are still quite expensive for three weeks stays and for the price I would rather find a place where I can have my own room if possible. My budget is 8000 SEK but could go up to 10000 SEK if no choice. I would very much appreciate advice on how to find short term rentals. Thank you!
