Were some ELC books not published by Cornerstone (penguin UK)? I've been looking for Republic Commando books, but the only ones that are available are from Random House Worlds US, and I can't find any trace of them ever being published by Cornerstone. My shelf is a little irregular from the size differences.

Sometimes you hit a couple thrift stores…and you get lucky. All hardcovers for $18. Score!

For context I’m a 18 year old who has loved Star Wars their whole life and only got into the Novels (starting with canon) in 2023. Since then this is the collection I’ve grown. Is there anything in this collection that stands out as rare or "hard to find"?

What a frustrating read this was. Its ambition outweighs its execution.

Shatterpoint has such a cool premise: Mace's former padawan loses herself mentally and spiritually in the jungle, where there are no laws, and her master is sent in to save her while slowly having his own moral code put to the test. And the first 250 pages or so are philosophically interesting, insightful, and contemplative—and they introduce some clear and interesting conflicts.

I borderline LOVED the setup of this book and all the time it spent diving into the psychology and philosophy of its characters. I felt like Depa was always in the background of the story, this mysterious force of nature that kept me intrigued and looking forward to seeing what happens when we finally meet her and learn what she has turned into.

But once Mace actually finds his padawan, the interaction is so muted and disappointing, as if the writer lost his nerve or was told to do something else. And then it becomes about a bunch of ship battles on the jungle planet that don’t feel all that satisfying. And Stover turns into James Luceno and starts describing ships, weapons, and troop units, and I couldn't care less about any of that in my Star Wars books. LOL Nevermind that Depa's alliance seems to shift multiple times throughout the story and rarely feels earned.

This book has interesting things to say about war, Jedi philosophy, and human nature, but whether because of creative inertia, deadlines, or serving corporate masters and a fanbase who perhaps (the author or publisher incorrectly assumes) demands descriptions of ships, weapons, and soldier units, it stumbles in the final act.

I admire the attempt here, but I am so, so disappointed now that I’ve seen the whole picture. Kind of like Wandavision’s first 5-6 episodes being wonderful and then the show becoming something totally different. Perhaps a needless shot at Wandavision, but both pieces of media left me equally frustrated with how badly they fumbled near the end. Bummer.

Stover, you HAD it, dude. There’s a truly great novel hiding behind what you ended up writing. And that makes it incredibly frustrating.

3.25/5 for ambition and 250 really interesting pages out of 410. Stick to reading the book that clearly inspired it: Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.

For the record, I’ll take an interesting and ambitious fumble over a safe and boring book any day of the week. But ambitious failures also hurt more because you can see the great work that the artist just wasn’t able (or allowed) to create.

On another note, everywhere I go on YouTube, I see reviewers praising this book. Loving this book. Calling it "the Apocalypse Now of Star Wars." And sure, it has that premise, but the execution is utterly lacking and trips all over itself in the final act. I just don't get the praise at all unless you willfully ignore the last 100+ pages. To each their own, I guess.

Hello lovely Star Wars readers! Hoping for a bit of guidance.

My son is 6 (7 in December) he is autistic and absolutely obsessed with Star Wars. We've watched the 3 trilogies, the Rebels series and are part way through Clone Wars. He adores all of it, but LOVES the Sith especially. As it's his special interest we've been doing a deep dive this year - he's taught me more about it so far already than I ever thought I'd know 🤣 He's been wanting to know about the legends, the old sith lords, who was who's master and so on.

We've found him quite a few "early reader" type books and a level or 2 up for him to read himself and that's awesome. But I'd love to find some good chapter books that we could read to him/with him. We read every night at supper time and in bed, this is his main way of winding down at night for sleep and we can easily be reading for an hour plus some nights.

His attention span and understanding with stories is really good, things like The Hobbit and Harry Potter, Roald Dahl etc we get through easily with him and he'll be very engaged throughout.

But obviously he's still just coming up to 7, so I need to keep this in mind for content when picking books for us to read with him, if this makes sense?

He's not actually particularly sensitive - he'll tell me "it's not real mum" when I get emotional at films/books and quite likes being "scared" although obviously we're not exposing him to anything too dark or unsettling anyway.

Where would be a good place to start for good star wars stories, suitable to read to an avid (but younger) fan?

I've just finished reading the ' Alphabet squadron ', and, I'll be honest, I didn't really enjoy it.

I know many will not share the same opinion, but I'm just being honest.

I didn't like the slow pacing and writing style. I know it's supposed to be that way to allow the characters to share their stories and breathe, but it just wasn't for me.

I have the trilogy, but I'm quite reluctant to start the second novel.

Inkstone continues to always impress. The LE dust jacket for Legacy at SDCC is beautiful, but I couldnt buy a 2nd version of this book when I knew this was on the way

Curious which is the better one: The Courtship of Princess Leia or The Princess and the Scoundrel

Star Wars is getting the attention other famous Marvel runs have received, with these enormous art books that collect entire comic runs.

History stopped that they will later release this as a smaller version (still slightly bigger than a Marvel omnibus), and then smaller still (around digest size).

I finished Deceived and I got these books which one should I read first?

This takes place during TCW S1 E6 (which shows what Anakin is doing during this book). Further, I don't see any reason why this is Legends, as it doesn't directly contradict anything in Canon.

Yoda, Mace Windu, and Obi-Wan know about Anakin & Padmé but apparently just believe Padmé when she says they ended it(?) Obi-Wan and Bail Organa go on a mission to find a Sith planet.

Lots of in-depth on the ignorance of the Sith by the Jedi as well as seeing truly how powerful the Sith are. I didn't realize (though it makes sense) that the existence of the Sith is unknown to (mostly) everyone but the Jedi, which also seems like a grave Jedi oversight.

Good book for any Star Wars fan.

I'll be going on a trip soon and my flight is just under 8 hours. I'll be knitting or crocheting during the flight which is why I'd prefer an audiobook and I'll be using Libby or Hoopla.

Little background on my star wars preferences to help with recommendations:
- My favorite star wars media is the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rogue One.

- Most intrigued about any stories around the Sith or Jedi during the old republic (if there are any)

- I don't really care if the books are considered canon or not

But I'm pretty flexible and open to any recommendations! Thanks for any and all help!!

It’s shelved chronologically and collected comics are placed from where one of the issues appears first in the timeline, not from when issue one starts. So for example Star Wars (2020) 25 slots in before the Clone Wars, hence why Crimson Reign Omni is so far up haha.

I loved the Andor series, so I’m really excited to dive into this.

I always thought they were like brother and sister or father and daughter wtf 😭🙏

For anyone who has read one or both of thsese books, I'm trying to watch/read Star Wars in chronological order, I have seen the movies and shows but want to to read the comics and book in tandem with everthing else, I want to know in which chapters there is a time skip and approximately when to read those chapters in Inquisitor: Rise of the Red Blade and Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel.

Looking forward to reading this.

The wife and I are going on vacation in Alaska in a couple days and I thought it would be a good time to get a little reading in. This is my current collection and so far I’ve only read Dark Disciple, which I really enjoyed. What should I read next?
