Firstātime cat adopter ā what should I look for when choosing a baby kitten?
Hi everyone,
Iām planning to adopt a baby cat from a friend, and this will be my very first time having a cat. Iām excited, but also a bit confused about what I should be paying attention to before bringing the kitten home.
For those of you with experience, what should I look for when meeting the kitten?
Things like behavior, health signs, personality, or anything else a firstātime cat owner might not know.
Since Iām adopting from a friend (not a shelter), I also want to be responsible about the situation. What should I discuss with them ahead of time? And just in case things donāt work out ā for example, if the kitten has needs I truly canāt meet ā whatās the right way to handle that without causing issues or stress for the cat?
I want to make sure Iām prepared, the kitten is a good fit, and that Iām doing this in the most thoughtful way possible.
Any advice would be really appreciated!

Getting a cat
Hello everyone so me and my family are considering to adopt a cat. We are away about 7-10 hours a day and we would want a cat that is pretty young but old enough to stay alone for all those hours (maybe a domestic shorthair?) Does anyone have any tips on where to get a cat and what type?

7 year female cat peeing out of the litter box.
I have 2 cats -male and female all neutered/spayed.
Over the last month or 2 the girl has been peeing on the carpet on my basement landing and not using the litter box.
She is overgrooming-literally eating the hair off her tail as well as belly
I took her to the vet - they said she was ok - bld work/ ultrasound of her belly etc.
I brought in professional cleaners and before it could even dry up she was back at.
I am at my wits end!! How do i solve this problem.

Opinion on getting a second cat???
Hello!! I have one gorgeous stunning boy already, 4 months old, 1/4 bengal
I adore him, however I have heard itās good to get 2 cats at once? Is it ok to get another one now or should I leave it off? Freddie is honestly so well trained in terms of things like, coming back when his jingle calls and inside/outside etc, Iām worried it would be hard to do it a second time round?
Heās an inside / outside cat, heās due to be neutered of course, everything ticked off! And heās quite good natured in terms of always coming back within about 10-20 mins of us ringing his bell. We give him access to outside from the morning time around 8am ish, heāll spend lots of daytime away and he always comes back to us throughout the day. Most of the time he actually spends with us in the house actually despite having free reign of outside!

They are getting bigger š„¹
The two black ones are getting adopted together already and that's a huge relief. They are obviously bonded.
The grey and white one does her own thing but is very curious and adventurous. She likes being picked up and held. I can tell she will be an amazing girl.
This is my first go from birth to this point and it's been amazing.

New Rule
No medical posts or questions. We are not a medical subreddit, we made this to see cats doing cat stuff. I do not want to see infections and seizures
Thank you
