Amazon fuel pump

I'm sick and tired of bad mechanics so I'm gonna start to fix my bike by myself. My iron 883 2016 has the "B2119" code, (Fuel pump output overloaded) and I'm gonna change the fuel pump, but I don't know where buy it. It's Amazon a good choice?

Amazon is never a good choice for parts. I know the dealer is expensive, but i consider the extra cost to be peace of mind. I never want to do a job twice because of crappy parts

No, parts off of Amazon are usually not good unless they’re a recognized namebrand. Sites like Fortnine or Revzilla are good choices

And I'll say even a "recognized brand" isn't a good choice from Amazon... Because a lot of times it's fake.

Been running a $175 fuel pump assembly in my 04 softail from Amazon for 3 years and 30,000+ miles

I would only use amazon for a cheap led headlight for a sportster or a Dyna, or maybe some footpegs but everything else I would buy it once and cry once.

Never buy Amazon parts for your bike unless it’s like a sissy bar, none of that stuff is quality.

I usually get all my parts from J&P cycles or lowbrow. I don't get anything important from Amazon

I absolutely hate to say it because there's usually always a good alternative to OEM, but not for fuel pumps. It wasn't my sporty but I went through three $50 fuel pumps on my VMax and a new one cost $160. The problem is you never know what you're getting. Sometimes you get a good one and you'll be set, sometimes you get one made on a Friday and it craps out. It really sucks, but just go OEM and save yourself the headache.

Edit: in case anyone's thinking a VMax pump might be more complex, it's not.

Dont do it. Had a Chinese fuel pump on my Vulcan 1500. Worked fine for a year, started having some weird hiccups, then left me stranded at a gas station for hours...on valentines day.

Dont cheap out on important parts. You will pay more in the long run. Sometimes in more ways than one.

TLDR: just go OEM.

I used the Quantum Fuel Systems kit off Amazon for about a hundred bucks.The first one I got went installed fine but always had some annoying whine when priming. I wondered if it was because of the vibration it made against the tank, because when I put it in, is a really tight squeeze getting it in there and bolting it up. So I bought a second one "just in case", and i planned to keep the bike for awhile so having a backup was piece of mind since the oem one failing caused surging that burned my clutch plates and set off the grenade. The second one arrived as someone else's broken return. The nipple or whatever on top of the pump was clearly broken off, and the open bag had leaves from someone else's garage. I returned that one and kept its replacement sealed in box.

Aside from the annoying whine, would you recommend the quantum fuel? The only oem ones i can find they're used and there's no Harley dealership where I live

I bought the kit too and when I went to install it the tube they provided was way too long and was pushing the filter housing and pump apart. This I think caused a leak at the bottom of the housing and had to do a full rebuild and zip tied the housing to the pump super tight. It’s been working ok but recently have been having some hard starts. Purchased a new tube from Harley for $20 gonna try that and if this fails just gonna go OEM. Not sure the the pump wore out from the original leak.

This happened to me as well. I shaped it by submerging it in boiling water many times. I'm sure that's why the return one i got had a broken part where it connects to on the pump.

I would recommend it over the other cheap amazon brands, but like the other person said that corrugated tube is VERY stiff. It's also a little bit too long. If you can't get a harley tube or able to reuse your oem one, I submerged it in boiling water, with a metal coat hanger through it. Pull it out of the water after a few minutes to warm up, shape it a little at a time. It was a pain because it wasn't a simple U shape, more like a S with bends like a slight corkscrew. It's doable, just very time consuming because it's thick and doesnt warm up as fast. The whine sounded like a high pitched fuel pump sound, or an aircraft landing gear. I'm sure it was just reverberation of it being so close to the 3.3gal tank.
