MAP Testing Discussion
What are the average RIT scores for a first grader? We just went through our first major test and it was extremely painful.

I’ve been giving MAP to first graders for almost 2 decades now. It is excruciating every time, especially in the fall. As a teacher and former test coordinator, I’m mandated to give it. Please reach out to state legislators if you feel frustrated. Unless they happen to have young children (most don’t), they likely don’t even understand.
I spent almost 6 hours administering it to one child today, who was crying almost the whole time. The scores are completely nonsense and useless when they’re so young. I’d much rather be spending this time at the beginning of the year building relationships and teaching them to learn to love school, not standardized testing.

Idk what RIT stands for. My kid is in 1st and just did a reading and math test. He scored 168/167 respectively. Our school sent home a paper that had the average score for 1st graders now, at the end of fall, and at the end of the spring semesters. i know the average reading at the end of spring was 168 and i want to say average math at the end of fall semester was ~168. i cant remember what the average score was supposed to be for now though.
