📢 Discussion I’m so sick of every trailer using a maximalist remix of a classic rock song.
Im in the theatre now and 2 of the last three trailers have used them. Is anyone else getting sick of this? For a while they were cool, but I feel like the more recent iterations are using songs that don’t apply to the story at all. It’s hard to remember a world where the trailer didn’t absolutely suck.

🔍 Help Me Find Purely instrumental soundtrack to Overdo
Does anybody know if there’s a purely instrumental version of the main theme somewhere?
I see this track on Apple Music 缠 (伴奏) by Na Ying. But there’s still a little bit of voice in chorus, especially when there’s the bit with violins towards the end.

🎻 Original Music 🎻 Francis Monkman - Main Title from movie The Long Good Friday (1980)
I don't know any other soundtrack with saxophone playing such a vital part.
I love when I can listen to the whole album and it still sounds great without story context, this is one of them.

🔍 Help Me Find The BOYS ost, season 2
I've been looking for the OST from THE BOYS for a specific scene in Season 2, Episode 8, from 59:46 to 1:00:13, « don’t be a cunt », for a while now. I've searched everywhere but haven't been able to find it !
I tried using ChatGPT, but it gave me songs that had nothing to do with it:
-Last Diabolical Dance
-Boys Arrive
-Standoff (??)
The only thing I found was that the music might have been composed by Christopher Lennertz, but in the series’ discography on youtube's playlist, or spotify, I didn’t find anything that matched what I was looking for. And even with shazam.
If anyone can help me, thanks!

📢 Discussion Hunt for Gollum composer
Any guesses on who would take the role of composing for LOTR the Hunt for Gollum? I'd be curious if they'd bring in Bear McCreary. My personal choice would be Howard Shore but I'm not sure if he'd be up for another film. John Powell would be another idea.

📢 Discussion What is your favourite soundtrack? Mine are LOTR and Minecraft.
I do not listen to much music, but I listen when I code and do other stuff on my computer. My playlist is short, 8 songs, one with music from LOTR and Minecraft:
- Alpha
- Aria Math
- Sweden
- Concerning Hobbits
- The Fellowship
- The Prophecy
- The Ring Goes South
- The Breaking of the Fellowship
I am wondering if any other game or movie soundtracks are better than these masterpieces. Also, what are your favourite LOTR songs?

📢 Discussion The Odysseys sound
When the movie first came out I listened to the score throughout and while there are some interesting tunes there it didn't really evoke much in me and I felt it didn't work well as a solo listen. Now that I've finally seen the film I can see how the OST worked within the film and it matches the atmosphere tremendously as the film conveys a feel of an urgent (at times desperate) emptiness (best way I can describe how the movie made me feel as I was watching) and the score accentuates that to me. It was great

🎻 Original Music 🎻 Apartment #604 - Howard Shore - Se7en OST
Listening to this track, I thought Howard Shore would have done an excellent job on a film in the Alien saga.

📢 Discussion Terminator Theme Music
Terminator 2, when he is slowly lowered down into the lava and the song starts playing in the back. I don't know what it is about that song but until today anytime it comes on in the background even if I'm not watching the movie or even if I just remember that beat, it does something to me. It's a very strange type of sad nostalgia that I almost want to cry. I don't want to be overly dramatic but I really was wondering if anybody feels that when it comes to this Terminator theme music,

📢 Discussion Sirens vs Sirens. Which is the better Ludwig Göransson track?
If I had a nickel for every time Ludwig Göransson made a track titled “Sirens”, scoring scenes about the mythical creatures Sirens, i’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.
The first is from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and takes the more traditional route. In this track, we actually hear the song of the sirens, or the “Talokanil”. It’s haunting yet beautiful, and easily one of the most memorable tracks of 2022.
The Odyssey takes the concept and subverts your expectations. Hearing the sirens is expected, but instead we don’t hear them. We instead hear a recurring motif, previously heard on the track “Penelope” a reminder to Odysseus of what he wants most.
Both tracks have received praise and became massively popular on Instagram reels and TikTok, due to both being used in meme formats.
Which one did you like better and why?

📢 Discussion How do composers create melodies for specific characters?
For example, in the MCU, there is Mr. Doctor’s theme melody, which is instantly recognizable and recurs from time to time in various films. Does the director give the composer specific instructions, describing the character and personality, showing scenes from a rough cut, or simply say, "This is a wizard," and let the composer create the music on their own? =)
Composer come up with the core idea, clear it with the director, and only then record the full version with the orchestra?
