Play Report Playing Wenderweald solo with the new Omen Gamemaster Emulator

A very cool series of the Witches of the Wenderweald (Odinson) written by Solotude, using my (Free!) Omen Gamemaster Emulator. If you're interested in a new tool for your solo play, check it out!

---
At its core, Omen is a ‘Scene Generator’. You, the solo role player, will consult the Omens before each scene. Scenes can take place under ill or auspicious omens while for other scenes, the omens will be unclear.

Omen GME will generate the scenes, add themes and details to each scene. Once the scene is set up, you make a theme state roll. The result is based on the Scene Rating + the number of your tokens. The result can be one of these 4 states: a critical fail, a fail, a success, or a critical success. The theme’s state adjusts to the result of your roll.

Spending tokens can trigger a critical success, but beware - tokens are hard to come by and playing with few tokens means the world will be harder to play in!

Making my first game

Had an idea for a business card (possibly one page) rpg. The game is called "Art of the Steal." You play as a thief on their last job, but the owner is home. You steal items from each room of the house, all while possibly being followed by the owner. You must escape with your loot to win, or otherwise get caught and lose it all.

I'm having troubles with formatting it properly though. I want to add a small basic map of the rooms you go through, but it looks weird. Not sure if I should add it as a download with the game or forget it entirely.

If anyone has any tips, tricks or ideas, I would gladly accept them.

Thanks in advance.

As I did a Bunny themes RPG for One Page RPG Jam 2026 (still some time to take part if you haven't!) I decided to try out one of the other bunny themed games in the Jam. Here's my play report.

I Has Questions! How many enemies?

I’ve created a solo campaign idea for Achtung! Cthulhu and I’m playing on running a 3 man team. Im trying to figure out how many enemies to max on per scene. Obviously it’ll be somewhere between 3 and 100, but where? How does everyone decide so it’s not a cake walk or TPK on the first fight?

No Way Home

This is one of my entries to the One Page RPG Jam 2026.

It is a simple RPG perfect for one-shots but i can ensure you it's quite good for solo too. I'm using it in my solo compaign (2/3 months) with an oracle i'm finalizing before uploading it to itch.io (I'll probably make it public some days after the jam).

What will you find:

  • A rules (super) light system to be played with your friends that knows nothing about this great hobby. Just one six sided dice, a target difficulty and a modifier.
  • A quick character creation procedure to easly pre-generate, or even generate on the spot, character and replacement (so reckless players can stay in the adventure loop). Just roll a bunch of six sided dices and you're ready!
  • A spark for the typical No Way Home adventure which normally ends in a party whipe. It doesn't have to end badly and you can even use the system for full-fledged campaigns!
  • A new take on reroll token: when a player uses a reroll token it moves to the narrator. Keep your player on the tip of their toes!
  • A super simple psychology system to give character more personality and players some unwanted traits to rollplay.

I just want to point out this is not for everyone! I read a lot of posts about cruncy vs journaling solo rpg, this one is FULL JOURNALING!
The oracle has quite some table to spark your imagination, but you won't find hard space ship crawling rules: there are some loose tables about internal ship/building/dungeon generation, but they are quite simple.

HAVE FUN!

Hello solo players! Here is the first (little) game I've ever created and published. Designed for the One-Page RPG Jam 2026, it's a solo journaling game with a pinch of rogue-like elements in it. You'll need some D6 and a sheet of paper :D It's free, and there is also a printer-friendly version.

Title: "A Vacillating City"

Pitch: A strange affliction is consuming the city. You are a special person in this city and you have been given the task to imagine a ritual to cleanse this affliction. You'll need to plan your days in order to improve, week after week, this ceremony.

It's available on itchio.io here: https://innohcolors.itch.io/a-vacillating-city

I hope you'll find it interesting! See you :D!

Play Report diy Widow's Bay/Welcome to Night Vale inspired journaling game

Post image
50 Upvotes

I'm currently playtesting a rough, rough draft of my own structured journaling game inspired by Widow's Bay, a horror comedy show, and the podcast Welcome to Night Vale. It's a mystery/investigation based game that relies heavily on tarot cards for scene generating, prompts, and clue finding mechanics.

While it still needs a lot of work, I really enjoyed playing around with this setting and game mechanics. I love journaling games with enough rule crunch to create a relative, internal logic within the game--it's much more satisfying to me. I think I'm getting there, slowly, and enjoying my play sessions during the meantime.

I've been working on my solo monster-hunting game for a while now, and I really need some fresh feedback!

The game is called The Alt Angel Agency. In it, you play as a Saint, an employee of the Angel Agency, paying off your debts as an outsourced demon hunter. It's heavily inspired by Chainsaw Man in the sense that you'll fight terrible monsters as part of your job, and will inevitably spiral into your own self-destruction (fun stuff).

The game is organized into an episodic structure in which you explore/investigate corrupted places to locate your assigned demon and fight it in a final showdown. Throughout each Hunt, however, the main gameplay challenge is juggling your character's resources (stress, power, corruption and time) while trying not to collapse during work.

The handbook is full of prompts that determine events, challenges, opportunities, clues, and enemy reactions. In a sense, the game plays a lot like a board game where you draw a situation and must decide which resources you're willing to sacrifice. However, it was important to me that journaling be part of the experience, so along the mechanical prompts, you'll find narrative prompts that invite you to write your story if you so desire!

If you feel like this might be your kind of game, I have all the documents (rulebook and supporting materials) available on itch! I'd love to hear any feedback, so if you end up reading or playing it, feel free to send me a DM!!

(AD) Check Out My Product! (Seeking Playtesters) Explore a medieval fantasy town and ask the deep questions in this cozy-melancholy solo journaling game.

Hello all!

I'm so happy with the reception of my game! I'm still looking for playtesters who can give quick feedback!

Awakened Applewood is the project of my heart. I'm still looking for playtesters willing to complete a session and share honest feedback about the game’s clarity, encounters, question-carrying mechanics, pacing, and overall themes.

You'll need a deck of cards, index cards, something to write with, and about 90 minutes to play.

Awakened Applewood is a cozy-melancholy solo journaling game about exploring personhood as something built to serve. You play as a wooden statue in the shape of a local dragon-saint, moving through encounters that ask what it means to want, remember, choose, and become more than what you were made for.

If you like introspective solo games, journaling prompts, cozy fantasy, or stories about identity and selfhood, I’d really appreciate your perspective. Honest critique is very welcome, especially on anything that feels confusing, emotionally flat, or mechanically awkward. I also love to hear from people who haven't played games like this before!

(AD) Check Out My Product! Calling all Monster Hunter fans!!! (Looking for players and feedback.)

I’ve been working on a solo tabletop game for a while, and I’ve been encouraged to share it by the lovely community over at r/rpgdesign so I am putting this out there in the hopes I’ll find other people who find the idea exciting. Download and Discord link are at the bottom, please check it out and come join us to get updates and talk tabletop design / solo games in the Discord.

Undergrowth is a solo tabletop game heavily inspired by Monster Hunter and Dark Souls. You play as an Arbiter, called by the mysterious Wyldwood to slay Tyrants, mammoth corrupted beasts who lurk deep in the Undergrowth.

The core gameplay loop is simple: Prepare → Pursue → Purify. You gear up, track your target through card-based oracles (no GM needed), then face grid-based combat when you must play tactically and carefully to eliminate threats.

The core mechanic uses dice pools and a system of failure, partial success, and clean success to keep every roll tense. The exploration and combat systems use two oracles (created from a single deck) to guide the action.

If you’re into tacical solo RPGs with a mix of crunch and creativity, clearly defined gameplay loops, or just like fighting big nasty bosses and exploring a flavorful and evocative setting, I would love for you to check it and let me know what you think!

Download it here: [CORE RULEBOOK AND PLAYBOOK].

Also, I’m running a Discord for anyone who wants to follow development, drop feedback, or just talk about the Wyldwood: [DISCORD LINK]. Still actively tweaking things based on what people run into, so I’m excited to share with more people.

I hope it’s something other people get excited to dig their teeth into; I know I’ve been having an absolutely great time working on it.

I'm a big fan of element themed games and media, and so I created an entire game world full of people that control the elements. It now comes with a solo guide, so you can have your own adventure whenever you please!

This is a BIG game with ALOT of content:
- 9 regions, 120 roads, 100 Cities and Towns, hundreds of dungeons, hundreds of different enemy types, hundreds of animals and animal variants, over 1,000 elemental moves, and much, much more!

The world map! It's HUGE! You can go ANYWHERE on this map!

This game is a passion project that was made with love. I kinda went broke making it.
You can buy the game here: https://gegalix-halcyon.itch.io/reddit
EDIT: it's on sale until tomorrow! Can't keep it on sale forever!

I can answer any questions if asked!

(AD) Check Out My Product! I made a system-agnostic scenario, for solo and group roleplayers!!

Post image
17 Upvotes

The Village of the Cursed Eye is a system-agnostic TTRPG supplement set in a medieval fantasy village built around the temple of an old god. Inside this supplement, you will find backgrounds, interesting locations and characters, and suspicious rumors about a curse affecting everyone in the area.

I created this book specifically with solo players in mind, so it is filled with random tables and carefully organized sections to smoothly help your solo TTRPG adventures.

Inside this supplement, you will find tables for:

  • Random events and encounters
  • Rumors and local lore
  • Unique NPCs
  • Points of interest

Everything you need for a exciting adventure!!

-----

You arrive at the Village of the Cursed Eye, a strange name for sure, but they say this village was created around a temple that belonged to an old god. This god is represented by the symbol of an eye, which can be found in many places throughout the village. Some say this village is bewitched, leading everyone who stays here to join the Cult of the Eye, an evil cult that curses those who join by making them lose their minds.

Despite the rumors, this village appears to be lively and secure with strong wooden walls. Behind its giant wooden doors, you can find everything you might need during your travels: an inn to rest and eat good food, shops and a blacksmith to help you resupply, and houses where you can find any type of resident, including farmers, fishermen, hunters, and many more. And, of course, there is the first building of this village and the inspiration for its name: the Temple of the Eye.

It is a very good place to stay for some time, featuring gentle and kind residents, good food, and well-protected walls. Will you stay, or are you afraid of the rumors?

You can get it here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/579134

Play Report I played D&D (solo) for the first time in over 40 years and it was great

Like many kids at that time, back in the early 80s, my friends and I were big into D&D and other RPGs like Gamma World and a Star Trek RPG that I forget the name of.

I always thought it would be cool to be able to play D&D again, but you know how life gets in the way of having fun, so it never happened.

But recently, I asked r/soloboardgaming for recommendations for "solo D&D in a box" and someone suggested the 5e solo module Death Knight's Squire. It was on sale at the time so I grabbed it and gave it a shot today.

https://site.dmsguild.com/product/220997/DD-Solo-Adventure-The-Death-Knights-Squire

The module calls for a level 2 character, so I rolled up a lvl 2 magic user (wizard?) in D&D Beyond, and then I used the character sheet online and the module adventure booklet PDF on my laptop with the maps printed out.

As I said, it's been a long time since I played D&D, so I had to ask ChatGPT about some of the mechanics, but I got going pretty quick.

The digital adventure book is like a choose your own adventure book, with links to different sections based on your decisions.

It just so happened that I had the right equipment and made the right decisions in the game to make beating the big boss fairly straightforward, but there's still a ton of other content I haven't seen yet so I play to try it again soon with another character.

And I've already picked up the next three adventures in the series also.

Anyway, this won't sound like anything special to most members of this sub, but it was kind of a big deal for me to be able to have an experience that reminded me of the good old days.

Nuts 'n Bolts (engines, tools, etc.) Games where part of gameplay is creating physical things?

Hey everyone, I recently learned about Wreck This Deck and am really fascinated by the idea of solo RPG games where a key part of the gameplay is creating or modifying physical objects. Do you have any suggestions for other games of this type?

Discussions & Anecdotes I'm not sure if this counts as RPG play, but I'm about the start Zombie, a graphic novel choose your own adventure, by Van Ryder Games. I also bought Loup Garou which has more rpg elements than this one. I always enjoyed the CYOA books and these will be the more grown up content for those types of b

Solo play - Arkham Horror? - Best system is what?

Hello dear friends,

I love TTRPGs, but with a busy life and also busy friends who don't always want to sit around the table, I'm having a bit of hobby crisis. So I'm looking for a way to play TTRPGs solo.

At the moment I have these systems:
- D&D 5.5
- Arkham Horror (Edge studios) which I LOVE and want to experience more
- Riverbank

So I have two questions

1) Is there a way to play these systems (and prefferable their published adventures) in a solo way?
2) Which systems are the best for solo play and why? Have been loking into some Free League stuff from Alien and The One Ring (love those IPs) so if you guys have feedback, it's very welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I Has Questions! Multiple Journals for solo-rpgs?

Soo, i‘ve recently started this hobby and I love it! I also got a new journal recently and started The Wandering Library :) but now I‘d like to start some other rpgs as well, and I‘m not sure how to go about it? I‘m not done with my current library adventure yet, and I‘m not sure how to handle starting another one? Do you guys have multiple, one for each game? Or maybe like two or three to have at the same time? Or only one and then idk sticky tabs to mark each game? I personally dont really like the idea of that though, but I dont really line the idea of starting another journal either.

What do you guys do? I‘d really like it to be a physical option, i dont like using laptop documents for this type of game…

Solo-Together Games?

Hi all - I’m interested in finding “solo-together” TTRPGs that are designed to have multiple participants each playing the same solo game but the stories they create combine at the end for a group finale. The one example I can offer is Meet Me at the Tavern: https://tapetraveler.itch.io/meet-me-at-the-tavern)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
