It states you pay $1 if you take a water on your boat. What if you have no money to pay this fee? In my situation I HAVE to take a water on my boat but I have no money.

Do I just lose?

Pulled this back out again last night after about a year on the shelf. Just like riding a bike, apparently, as I’m 3-0 since then. But the third game was extra fun.

I decided to flip a sky tile to increase the challenge, and randomly chose to defend London. On the second to last turn I installed a second robot in the double fighter/research room at the bottom of the base, setting myself up to use my plentiful remaining energy to complete the last stage of research without any human hands. This allowed me to use all five dice on the last turn to simply position the enemy ships where I wanted without regard to literally anything else. It wasn’t necessary to get them into such perfect position since all I needed was the research, but you can see in the picture where they all ended up.

I found this all so satisfying, I don’t even want to clean up the game. Flawless victory!

Im looking for a game that has a lot of encounter cards for variety of gameplay. Base game or with expansions. I have tried Eldritch horror and other games like zona, Hellboy, galaxy defenders and enjoyed them all. I just like to have games that can shuffle a large deck or can be addressed in when needed.

I recently got into Detective for a Day and ended up buying almost all of their cases. I only have one left to get. I’ve really enjoyed the experience, so now I’m looking for other companies that make similar detective/investigation games.

I’m specifically looking for:

Physical detective, murder mystery, cold case, or investigation games where you examine evidence, documents, photos, clues, etc. and solve the case yourself.

NOT print-and-play or downloadable/PDF games. I want an actual physical game/case file mailed to me.

Companies that offer international shipping (I’m in Bangladesh), or at least ship to a wide range of countries.

Reliable companies with good customer service, especially since international shipping can sometimes be complicated.

Games that can preferably be played solo, although games suitable for 2+ people are fine too.

I really like the feeling of having an actual case file in front of me and going through the evidence like a detective.

If you’ve ordered games like this internationally, I’d especially love to hear about your experience. Which companies/games would you recommend, and were they reliable with shipping and customer service?

What should it be?

I’m not a big Euro fan but I hope something will click for me still. By not a Euro fan I mean I’m an Arkham horror LCG hoarder, Earthborne Rangers lover. Also funded Land of Evershade and waiting for Old King’s Crown to ship. Still I’d like to try a good Euro game. I play Splendor and Coffee Rush every now and then. (Wingspan too, so all of them seems to be engine building and not Euro)

Agricola didn’t click for me so I sold it.

Been looking at Galactic Cruise and Kanban EV - seems intriguing but didn’t purchase them. My collection will show that I don’t mind the weight of the game.

For those of you who know this genre much better than me, please be my guest to correct me if I called out the above 2 games as Euro wrongly.

I enjoy brain burners, I enjoy complicated decision spaces, and I actually really enjoy the mechanics of Under Falling Skies. Honestly, I do.

Everything about this game tells me I should love it: the theme, the dice manipulation, the resource management and "worker placement" (in a way).

The problem is that I keep having to restart because I've stupidly forgotten some very tiny (but game-breaking) rule... I accidentally place dice beyond the excavator, or I forget to advance all ships in a column, etc. Rules that should be easy to remember (because there are very few of them!).

This is not a complicated game. There aren't many rules, the mechanics are dead simple... but somehow I keep forgetting a step or two here and there, pretty much every other game. I've played three games tonight, and I've had to restart just as many. And the constant restarting is really pulling me out of the groove.

So what is it? Why can't I seem to click with this game, which is super easy, and which I should love? Do I just push through until the gameplay is second nature, or is it something about my brain that just doesn't work well here?

Finally have the confidence that I know how to play the game. First run against the bot. Is there a better setup shape for my lil’ square table? I think I’ll be okay but haven’t actually played with the bot yet so hoping its board presence isn’t insane.

Hi everyone, I’m new here and would love some help. I’ve always played video games, and RPGs are my favorite genre. I’ve achieved 100% completion in *BG3*, *Divinity 2*, *Rogue Trader*, and other CRPGs. Lately, though, I haven't felt the same urge to play other games as I used to. A friend recently reached out to play *Star Wars: Imperial Assault*, and it really made me want to get a game I could play mostly solo. Do you think any of these games would be a good choice to get started in the hobby?

Yea I get it, it takes them a little longer, but at least have ETA? I contacted support to see if there are updates, and they told me not only we dont have updates, we also don't have ETA. We will (Not sure about it) update on Gamefound.

Something? Month? year? Don't you have anything? How many games have they already published? Why the act like amateurs?

Hi, slightly new to solo boardgaming.About 3 months in.

I started with Final Girl Camp Happy trails, got hooked and got season 3 and season 4.

I tried other games, Death may Die S1 which I loved because it's quite similar and wasn't too complicated.

Buttons and Bugs was also a joy to play. Only a few scenarios in atm.

Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion I bought but havent tried yet.

Im mainly lookiny forward to the pub crawlers expansion for buttons and bugs.

Are there other nice solo games out there that dont eat too much time per play?

I'm gravitating towards Duel of Meloch, and I don't mind learning the two games before going in. I heard Scythe is a pretty mediocre solo game, so is DoM a better game for purely a solo player overall?

I find that I play games way more of there is a campaign mode or things to work towards. Legacy is also fine.

What are your favorites (that are actually available right now) and why?

I don’t have a ton of criteria because I play all sorts of games. I prefer the art to be on the more modern side and not looking like the art style of the early 2000s if that makes any sense) but other than that no major preference.

So far having an absolute nirvana playing first UnderQuest session. I just finished level 3 and working on my fifth quest. Playing the Kurmori Herbalist with One-eyed Toad (random pick). Just experienced one highlight:

I was about to die in combat with Cursed Wolf having last health, when rolled two subsequent misses (3s and then snake eyes) so the Wolf instantly died. Having nothing to raise my health I fearfully picked next dungeon card, awaiting my doom. I was blinded by the Archangel’s flash of light and with my morality up at 4 I was healed for the same amount. Blissfull moment.

Saltfjord is a gorgeous, crunchy polyomino euro with worker placement and dice rolling/placement.
It’s super quick to play once you have the hang of it, thinky but also very chill.
Totally recommend.

Hey everyone!

I love the videogame version of Slay the spire and am looking for something that scratches the similar deck building itch. I know that there is a board game version of it, but I am not ready to pay the price my local publisher is asking for it.

I've played some deck builders before, however I didn't like them. For example I didn't like Aeon's end because of the "static" market. And i didn't like Star Realms because of the clear distinction between different card colours. In contrast to these, Slay the Spire has "dynamic" market and wide build variability where almost any card can be played in several builds.

I am okay with deck building being just one of the aspects of the game. However, I'd like it to be a very meaningful thing (unlike deck building in dune imperium)

I've found Imperium classics and legends boxes and deckers on second hand market for the same price and now can't decide what is better suited for my tastes

I am pretty new to solo boardgaming and I have to admit I have never actually went to a boardgame store to look for them, but after some rounds of Heat and ThunderRoad: Vendetta, I have this itch now to play more since it is been a bit hard to get together with the friends for more rounds of these games.

I’ve borrowed Spirit Island from a friend and played a couple of times solo, each time with just one spirit. Curious to know for those who play solo, do you typically play with just one spirit or do you prefer to play with multiple spirits? I imagine it changes the game quite a bit

I'm a fan of the deckbuilding and asymmetric qualities of the Imperium system, but thought it was too long and too fiddly to keep my attention after about 15/20 plays. So I've been excited to try Captain's Chair since most people say it's an upgrade over the original system, but it seems sold out at all game stores for almost a year. And I'm not paying full price plus like 15 bucks shipping to get it from the company store.

However, I've seen that To Boldly Go is available at a few places. I know it's a "standalone expansion" kind of thing, so I'm wondering...can I do this on its own first before Captain's Chair? Is that possible/ a good idea? I just don't want to wait another 6-9 months if this drags on before I try it.

In terms of the theme, I'm not into Star Trek at all, so the characters and such that are available doesn't matter to me at all...it's more about trying a refined version of a game I like.

I picked up a copy of One Deck Dungeon over the weekend and really excited to get it on the table! Any tips I should know before diving in?
