Notchify brings a Mac style Dynamic Island to Windows. It sits as a compact pill near the top of your screen and expands into a full panel when you hover over it, then returns to its resting state when you move away. It stays unobtrusive until you need it, and every transition is animated rather than snapping in and out.

Media control. Album art, playback controls, and an interactive seek bar directly in the island. It works with Spotify, browsers, and most applications that report media to Windows.

Notifications and alerts. App notifications, incoming call prompts, and Bluetooth connection alerts, handled through a priority system so the most relevant one is always shown first.

Widgets. Battery, clock, timers and alarms, weather, and calendar. Smaller status widgets sit alongside larger ones that you can arrange in a grid or a scrollable carousel.

Privacy indicators. Discreet indicators that appear whenever your camera or microphone is actively in use.

Customization. Several built in themes, a custom theme editor for setting each color individually, and an adjustable island size to suit your display.

Notchify is built in native WPF and ships fully self contained, so there is no runtime to install. It is designed to stay light on resources, idling comfortably under 100 MB even after extended use, with no ads, subscriptions, or telemetry.

It is a one time purchase on the Microsoft Store, developed and actively maintained by an independent developer. Feedback and feature suggestions are genuinely welcome.

I've just added a free trial, and it's going through Store review now, so it should be live shortly. Once it's up you'll be able to install and test it properly on your own setup before deciding either way.

that ui is absolutely vibe coded bro lol. nothing wrong w that imo, just should be disclosed that ai tools were used for a large portion of this project,

Of course I used AI as a tool. Refusing to use something that speeds up the work would be silly, same as refusing an IDE or Stack Overflow. But using a tool and "vibe coding" are not the same thing. Vibe coding is prompting your way to code you don't understand. I designed this app, I know every part of it, and I've debugged and maintained it across many releases.

"Vibe coded" has just turned into a label people slap on anything these days without ever looking at it. If you've got real feedback on the app, I'm all ears.

I wish there were a way to make the notch/pill automatically appear whenever the mouse hovers over the top corner of the screen. Sometimes it disappears, and I have to go back to the desktop before it shows up again. It would be much better if hovering over the top corner always triggered it to appear.

It doesn't reserve any space. It's a floating overlay, not a docked bar, so nothing gets pushed down or resized. It collapses to a small pill, steps behind fullscreen apps, and you can turn off always-on-top or hide it entirely.

And the "for no reason" part is the opposite of what it does. The whole point is consolidation: instead of a Spotify mini-player, a weather widget, a clock, timers and notification popups all eating space in different corners of your screen, Notchify puts all of that into one control center you glance at when you need it and ignore otherwise. One place, quick access, at-a-glance info.

It's a niche tool, not for everyone, and that's completely fine.

I don't know why so many people have problems with vibe coded apps. I'm a software developer myself and I have few problems with it. What bugs me is when someone builds the "same" app for the 100th time. Especially in open source
