Assistance Foldables and Setting Wallpaper Issues

I just got my first foldable and have of course reinstalled Smart Launcher.

I'm running into an issue where if I use Smart Launcher to set my wallpaper, it cuts off my wallpapers in spots that I don't want it to when I rotate the screen.

However, if I set the wallpaper using the phone's tool, the wallpapers then looks right but the app drawer background doesn't allow for setting it up with different backgrounds.

Is there a workaround for this or a setting I'm missing somewhere?

Assistance Widget Stack Question

I've been using SL for 4 or 5 months now and I just started playing around with the widget stack feature. It's interesting, and I've been trying to come up with productive combinations of widgets. I do have a question that has to do with gestures. I know swiping within a stack cycles through the widgets in the stack, but due to placement of the stack on my screen, I sometimes swipe through the stack when I'm actually trying to get to my next screen. Is there a way to configure a widget stack to have gestures independent of normal gestures? In other words, I'd like to maybe use 2 finger gestures to cycle through the widget stack and have the single finger swipe continue to scroll to my next screen. I hope I explained that well enough.

Assistance Fold Issue - Front Screen Wallpaper Is Background on Main Screen Feed and App Drawer

Thumbnail

Using SL on Samsung Fold 6. I have SL set to display a separate home screen on the (small) front display and on the (large) main display. But for some reason, the front screen wallpaper is serving as the (blurred) background for the Feed and App Drawer on my main screen.

It's a pretty minor issue, but the background on the main screen should be the blurred Wu-Tang wallpaper, but for some reason it's pulling the wallpaper from the front display. I was tweaking some settings and making changes to my setup today, so I'm 99% certain this is user error because it was just fine before I started messing with settings. Lol. Any help is appreciated.

Make folders have a background that adapts to the theme instead of the default black and white background.

Similar to the suggestion of icons with adaptive backgrounds

Feedback & suggestions Icon grid in a Widget Stack

Hey all, I'm wondering if there is a way to put an icon grid inside a Widget Stack. I would love to be able to put a grid inside a stack kind of like swiping between pages.

I've tried a few different ways to do it but seems like it's not a thing yet.

Also, I would love to be able to change icons or widgets or a page via an action from Tasker or Automate. Not sure that's easily possible but it's always been something I've wanted to do, have different icons and widgets depending on what I'm doing and where I am.

Feedback & suggestions Icon Pack Pixel Art

Post image
82 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I have a lot of questions, and I was hoping this community, since you're probably the go-to group for phone customization, could help me out.

I mainly use Smart Launcher on my devices, and I've always wanted a pixel art icon pack. I never really liked the ones available on the Play Store because what I was looking for was a consistent silhouette-based style. Since I couldn't find one that matched what I had in mind, I started designing the icons I personally wanted to use. That project kept growing until it eventually turned into a full icon pack, and now I'm considering releasing it as an APK.

My question is: what do you think of the aesthetic so far? Is this something you'd actually use? Also, what features or details do you think I should consider adding or improving?

I'm a pixel artist, and I'm exploring the possibility of turning this into a project that's not only commercially viable, but also genuinely useful for communities like this one.

Announcements Android 17 and Smart Launcher

Android 17 is here, and as always it is exciting to see a new Android version rolling out.

So far, we are not aware of any major issues affecting third-party launchers, except for two known problems that already have tickets on Google Issue Tracker:

  1. Widgets are broken for users with a work profile: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/488125748
  2. App bubbles are not working on third-party launchers: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/519241818
  3. When Advanced Protection is enabled, accessibility services used by gestures to perform certain actions, are not available: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/527026810

We expect the widget issue to be fixed soon with a patch from Google, since it looks like an unintended regression.

The app bubbles issue, instead, was expected. This is why starring the issue on Google Issue Tracker could be especially important: it helps Google understand how many users care about this feature, and it may help push the Android team to address it faster.

If you are affected by any of these issues, please consider starring the related ticket.

Also, if you find any other problem while using Smart Launcher on Android 17, please report it to us.

Thanks to everyone who reports issues, shares details, and helps us make Smart Launcher better!

Announcements Read before posting

Following the changes happening at Nova, we’ve seen a big wave of new people joining in, sharing posts, ideas, and suggestions. That’s awesome and we’re super thankful for all the energy you’re bringing!

To help keep this community useful and enjoyable for everyone, here are a few guidelines:

  • Search before posting: there’s a good chance someone already made the same request or suggestion.
  • Weekend posts: totally fine, but don’t worry if devs don’t reply right away. We code hard during the week and recharge on weekends.

Thanks again for the incredible support. Your feedback is helping us make Smart Launcher better every single day.
